"You have to be kidding me." Severus Snape said while rubbing the bridge of his nose.
He already was not in a good mood due to the fact that he was about to meet Lupin; a man that had let his friends bully him in school instead of doing his duties as a prefect and then ended up, even if unwillingly, traumatizing him in his werewolf form. Yet he could deal with that kind of annoyance, the last decade in Hogwarts had made him into something of an expert when it came to dealing with annoyances. But this… this…
"Bring me another!"
…this place of debauchery that it's owner dared to call a bar was bit too much!
"Hey man, you should drink some!" One other reason that he did not want to deal with this place other than the atmosphere. It was the people in it, Severus already disliked interacting with normal people. So dealing with a shirtless drunk that towered over three meters with arms wider than a normal human's waist trying to get him to drink with him was far worse. And he was one of the more normal looking people in there.
"My apologies, but I would rather not." Severus said as politely as possible, not wanting to offend… whatever this man's race was.
"Huh?! No drinking?! Who do you think you are?!" Which seemed to have failed as the giant of a man smashed the bottle in his hand on the table, turning it into a sharp weapon that he pointed towards Severus.
"You wanna fight?! Cause I'll fight ye!" He yelled, right before whatever he had been drinking made its effects known and the giant of a man fell on his face; unconscious, which also had the side effect of making the other occupants of the bar laugh.
Seeing that he was not about to be bothered by other again, Severus walked up to the barkeep; who was an old man with pale grey skin, very long arms, completely red eyes and three long horns on his forehead. Likely a demon.
"Anything you want?" The demon asked as he wiped a glass in his hand, looking bored out of his mind. Which was definitely far better than most other demons Severus had came into contact with.
"I'm looking for someone." Severus said, pushing forward a silver coin towards the demon; who looked at it for a moment before taking it.
"Most people around here do, except for morons like Kavara over there." The demon said as he gestured to the fallen form of the man that had tried to offer Severus a drink before collapsing, likely due to alcohol poisoning.
"So, who are you looking for?"
"Remus Lupin." And then the demon stopped wiping the glass, instead he gazed at Severus with an unreadable gaze; as expected of an actual demon from hell.
"And what exactly is your reason for looking for that man?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"My employer wishes to meet with him in order to discuss certain things." Severus said with a dull look in his eyes, actually rather surprised at the fact that the demon had not simply did as it was asked to. Most of their kind would not care for reasons or anything that would require them to do more than what they were paid for, either in money or souls.
"Well, I guess it does not matter." The demon said with a shake of his head before pointing towards a door behind him.
"Lupin is in there, if you are lucky then he might even be in a good mood." The demon shrugged as he went back to the glass in his hand, ignoring Severus.
The potion master walked towards the door with some uncertain thoughts in his mind. There was something fishy going around, why would a demon even care about Lupin's mood? And why had he looked somewhat uneasy talking about the werewolf? He got his possible answer when he opened the door and saw Lupin.
When Severus pictured Lupin in his head, while using all of his mastery over Occlumency in order to repress the mementoes of the other Marauders, he pictured a straight laced man that wore slightly worn down clothes, unkempt appearance, tired eyes and a polite behavior to the point where he would make you feel bad about yourself.
What he saw was not that.
"Snape?" What he saw was a very muscular man in a trenchcoat with red eyes, slightly grown rugged beard and fangs slightly protruding out of his mouth. He also had some sort of reptilian creature sticking out of his mouth, for what reason Severus did not even want to contemplate.
"This is something unexpected." Lupin said as he swallowed the rest of whatever it was in his mouth.
"Didn't think that you of all people would ever seek me out."
"I had no choice, there is something you need to know." Severus said with a sigh.
"That Dumbledore wants something? Booring! That's already obvious." The werewolf said with a roll of his eyes.
"It's actually about your old friend Black."
"What about that traitor?" Lupin asked gruffly.
"As it turns out, he is not a traitor." Severus admitted and then tried to discreetly reach his wand as he saw the fierce look in Lupin's eyes.
"You got three seconds to explain what you mean, then I'm gonna rip you apart. One."
"Pettigrew was the actual traitor and had faked his death, we found him and learned that Black did not betray the Potters." Severus explained quickly, not wanting to take any kind of chances with this new Lupin.
"…" The werewolf kept looking at Severus, no sign of the Remus Lupin that Severus had known. Even in that human form of his, he looked even more terrifying than the actual werewolf that had almost devoured Severus years ago.
As he was thinking of such things, Lupin suddenly disappeared from his sight and then appeared right in front of him with his fangs even longer than before and his eyes glowing red.
"Tell me everything."
