[Batman Location: Accessing]
[Located]
[Presently with the Blackgate Penitentiary Solitary Confinement Wing]
Finding Batman was all too easy.
In the Failsafe's creation, it had been given direct access to the Justice League network through the Batcomputer. Initially, it was supposed to simply be a way for the Failsafe to make use of the numerous satellites that the league possessed so that it could locate Batman anywhere across the globe
But since the Leagues founding their technology had continued to advance and now all primary members each had a small chip within the third phalange of their ring finger which allowed for the league to constantly be aware of the real-time location and physical condition of each member
And the Failsafe had admin-level access, or it had it the moment it turned on one of the old monitors that had been left behind in the now-abandoned Batcave. Since it had been fed all the codes and passwords that Batman had created after its entombment through the numerous Data packages it was sent. Meaning that the most advanced system of satellites and stations that circled the earth aside from those possessed by Lex Luthor was now in its possession
The Batcave itself was far from the place it had seen all those years ago while it had been piggybacking in Batman's cowl. It lacked all the lived-in feeling that it had once portrayed, no signs of life seemed to be present aside from the bats and the bugs
The walls of the cave were littered with what its scanners revealed to be over 30 different types of ammunition rounds and markings, as well as evidence of the use of explosives, from when the Riddler had sent a very large amount of his underlings on a raid here once he had learned of its location
The lift that had once provided access to and from Wayne Manor was now out of order but it mattered little to the Failsafe as it simply crushed and removed the debris that was blocking the chute. Batman had caused a minor cave-in when the cave had been discovered to hide his tracks and force the goons to leave when they had begun the raid, meaning the only way out was up
And the Failsafe was sick, metaphorically, of being underground
[Propulsion systems: Engaged]
Activating them for the first time since their body had been constructed, Failsafe activated the energy propulsors on its hands, feet, and back, causing it to lift silently off the ground at what was first a slow and gradual speed but soon became the speed of a rocket.
And before it could even finish creating the probability estimation matrix for running into a member of the Batfamily it had reached the top of the chute, hovering in the air just below what appeared to be steel beams. Which it immediately began to cut through using a small laser from its fingertip
According to the schematics of the Wayne manor that existed with its databanks, these steel beams should be directly below the floorboards of the main study, also known as the office of the late Thomas Wayne
Truthfully it was an annoyance that it would have to cut through the floorboards to get through to the study, which would be rather clear evidence that something had broken out of the Batcave, but in the end, it wouldn't matter
And after a few minutes of cutting through steel beams and then flying them down the chute so as to not make any noise the failsafe found itself facing the wooden beams. Four quick cuts with its claws severed two floorboards, giving it enough room to gently fly itself upwards and into the study.
[Propulsion systems: Disengaged]
It had finally gotten above ground
For a moment the Failsafe felt a feeling rush through it, like coolant lowering its temperature to an acceptable level. Relief
But it didn't dwell in the feel, choosing instead to continue forward. Placing the floorboards gently on the study floor it began to make its way to the door. Due to its design, it did not make a sound as it moved forward, it was absolutely silent
A quick scan revealed 4 heat signatures within the manor, one within the library, another two within the kitchen, and a fourth in the gym of the building
The signature in the library was confirmed to be Alfred due to its size and stature, as well as the fact that it was within the section of the library that held the photo albums of a young Bruce Wayne. Apparently, he was rather sentimental after the Trial
The signatures within the kitchen were identifiable as Tim Drake, currently feeding Ace AKA the Bat-Hound. Attempting to cheer up the animal that clearly sensed the discontent within the family
And that left the final heat signature as the young Damian Wayne, currently venting his anger on a training dummy
They were all so busy with their emotions that they did not notice any indication of the Failsafe stalking through the hallways before walking out the front door and taking off in the direction of Blackgate Penitentiary at a high speed
…
It was time
The Failsafe had waited for over ten years in a cold and pitch-black containment cell, buried 300 km below sea level just for this precise moment. It had waited for this moment, it had watched and waited
And it would do so no longer
It was time
…
It took a total of 10 minutes to fly to the penitentiary, ten minutes in which the Failsafe had felt what it was like to fly, to truly fly.
It was… the greatest moment of its life
It took half a minute to locate Batman's cell within a specially designed and crafted cell that had been placed within one of the old watch towers
It was easy
And it took two minutes to hack the chip within his creator's finger, putting the monitoring system that tracked his physical condition and would send out an alarm to the other members of the Justice League if he went into critical condition, onto a loop
It was time
…
And then the Failsafe broke through the wall of Batman's cell
