Chapter 28
At Boston Beach, where sea waves caressed the sands rhythmically, a white chair sat against the backdrop of the vast ocean. A man lounged in it, his long black hair catching the sunlight, his pale, smooth skin contrasting with the azure horizon. Dressed in nothing but boxers, his lean yet muscular physique was on display. Around him, an unusual number of women lounged in chairs, some unabashedly staring. This man was Cain, taking a much-needed break from the constant battles and job-taking, simply enjoying the moment. "It would have been better if Diana were here," he mused with his eyes closed.
His wish materialized abruptly as something hurtled toward him at high speed, crashing through the sea surface like a stone. Panic erupted on the beach as people yelled, "Oh my god, RUN!" A massive tsunami loomed. Something crash-landed, creating a long line across the sand right in front of Cain. He sat up and observed the figure that emerged, causing a smile to bloom on his face. "Hello, beautiful," he greeted the figure, who groaned and looked up.
"Cain? What are you doing here?" she asked, concern in her eyes. "I was taking a nice, long break. You seem to be having some fun," he replied, wiping blood from her lips. His smile faded as she urged him to leave, citing danger. The tsunami stopped, and two figures appeared. "Well, sister, is that your lover?" one figure, a man resembling Diana, asked. Diana, now standing, stepped in front of Cain. "This has nothing to do with him, Jason. Leave him out of it," she insisted.
"Why am I not surprised, Diana, daughter of Zeus, champion of the Amazon, going for a weak human male," remarked the other figure, a woman with ash-grey skin, red eyes, and strange armor named Grail. "Grail, this is a fight between the three of us. Cain, leave, now," Diana commanded, but Cain didn't budge. "Oh, that is impossible, Wonder Woman. I wonder how you will feel when I slaughter your own lover in front of you. The rage," Grail taunted, brandishing a peculiar sword.
"You know, I was planning on having a nice, quiet day at the beach before spending the rest of the day meditating," Cain said as his body transformed, growing taller and more muscular. Scales appeared, horns protruded from his forehead, and leathery wings sprouted from his back along with a large tail.
"However, I suddenly have the urge to punch something," he declared with a toothy grin. "How do we do this? Should I take on your brother?" he asked, surprising Diana. There was a hint of surprise and perhaps something more in her eyes before she shook her head and tightened her grip on her sword. "No, I will handle him myself. Just hold off Grail until I am done with him," she instructed as the ground beneath Cain webbed. "I can do you one better," he responded, swapping places with Jason and surprising Grail with a powerful blow to her stomach, sending her flying.
"This is the first time we are fighting together," Cain said as Grail flew back towards him, her sword aimed at him, only to be stopped by his shield. He swiftly grabbed her by the throat, and they descended together, crashing into the ground just as Diana did the same to her brother.
"Well, you don't like the hero stuff, so," she remarked as they landed punches simultaneously. Grail shot two large Omega beams from her eyes, but Cain's shield effectively negated the attack.
"I've had enough of this. Kill her, Jason!" Grail commanded, launching herself toward Cain. A confident smile spread across his face before he vanished, and Jason found himself in Cain's previous position, taking a punch from Grail that sent him flying. Cain reappeared in front of Diana, who swung at him, and he caught the punch with his scaled hand, noting the reduced force behind it.
"Hmm, are you going easy on your brother? By the way, you didn't tell me you had one," he said, pulling her in close. Diana groaned, pushing Cain away as Jason flew past them.
"Enough!" Cain's shields shattered suddenly as he got serious, instinctively shielding Diana as he stared at the source of the shot.
"Your presence is unnecessary, human," a deep voice rang out. It belonged to a humanoid male with ash-grey skin, similar to Grail, but with a red glowing symbol across his chest. Bald, wearing only black trousers and shoes, he exuded a menacing aura.
"Is that a malnourished Darkseid?" Cain quipped. Another Omega beam shot towards him, but a duplicate Cain appeared, conjuring dozens of arcane blades that shot toward Darkseid. The original Cain, shield shattered, prepared for the next move. "Alright, we don't have much time until the duplicate disappears," Cain said, turning to Diana.
"What else? We have to fight. If we don't stop them, they will slaughter all of Zeus's children, myself included," Diana declared. The duplicate chimed in, "Can you guys hurry up and come up with a plan?" Cain sighed. "Right, how are we going to fight Darkseid, Grail, and your brother at the same time, while Darkseid contends with your Justice League regularly?"
"Then we beat them until they can't anymore," Diana said. Cain sighed again. "Fine, just don't get hurt, would you?" he responded, spawning two more duplicates as the first one disappeared. "I need golems, as many as you can make," he instructed the duplicates as he himself took to the air and launched himself at Darkseid. Diana went after both Jason and Grail. "Foolish mortal, you believe yourself to be strong enough to contend with me," Darkseid boomed as he fired his Omega beams at Cain, who folded his wings to shield himself from the attack.
Although his scales negated 25% of the damage, he still felt the impact. His scales barely endured 75% of the damage. He responded by breathing a large amount of fire, which did minimal damage to Darkseid. Darkseid backhanded Cain, sending him flying. A large hand of sand caught him mid-air. "Golems are up," the duplicate said, sending a horde of golems to assist Cain, who was visibly bleeding. Yet, he stood resolute, for he had a plan.
A searing pain flared up on Cain's forearm, causing his scales to fall off and revealing a familiar strange tattoo. "No, no, no!" Cain yelled as he transformed into a full-fledged dragon. With a single swipe of his massive clawed hand, he sent Darkseid flying. However, his hand felt numb, and Darkseid retaliated by sending Cain tumbling down.
"Cain," Diana's voice echoed as she and the others landed nearby. Jason chimed in, "We came to help." Cain's duplicate appeared next to him, hands raised. "We've got this covered." The sand/water golems continued their impressive assault on Darkseid, keeping him occupied despite being one-shot wonders. The duplicates fired multiple arcane blades, covering the entire sky.

i have been busy, like really busy, to the point where i am lacking some stock in my chapters, and the reason for that, i cant help but create a new fanfic, but dont worry, i plan on finishing all of my fanfic, except for the young justice as a cultivator, fic, its just that i wasnt feeling it, i wasnt excited about it, but for the fans who like that fanfic, dont worry, i have another young justice fanfic, with a sorcerer system, and of course, the main love interest is zatanna.Did I mention that he is a failed clone of martial manhunter and wonder woman
here my other fanfic, which i would like your vote on:
-Random-Reincarnation-System: as you can guess from the name, it a fanfic, about a soul who gets reincarnated in different worlds, after each death, with the main goal of disturbing the timeline in that universe, earning essence and getting stronger(ps: this is for those wont like fanfic that follow the main timeline of a universe)
-MCU: Incarnation-System: its an mcu fanfic, not like my mcu fanfic, i dont know why i am including in this vote as i am releasing isnt it, but a vote would motivate me. the main premise of this fanfic, is for the mc to create his own organisation, meaning that i got plan the story, the timeline, and the directions of this fanfic, he possess a system which allows him to create an incarnation seed which blossoms into an incarnation, sort of like a clone, but he can pilot them, or they can act independent, the main or the mc's personal goal is to create a shadow organisation, like the eminence of shadows, but every step his organisation takes, changes the timeline, to the point where you wont notice its an mcu fanfic at the end.
Marvel: Time-Stop-Button: as you might have guessed from the name, its a fanfic about a guy with a button that stops time, but every time he stops time, he needs to complete a mission, which he then be rewarded, (ps: trust me, i created a trial fanfic where the mcu has a button which stops indefinitely, but by the first time he came out of the time stop period, he was hella strong, so there has to be some sort of restrictions)
