Chapter 22
Outside the fortress, suddenly, an eerie, green light burst forth, shrouded in a cloud of emerald smoke. Figures began to materialize within the smoke, like specters emerging from another realm. Among them, an Australian man sporting a wide-brimmed hat wielded a boomerang. By his side stood Harley Quinn herself, her wild and colorful demeanor adding a touch of chaos to the group. A man in a distinctive military uniform took position beside her, exuding a sense of authority. Another figure, clad in a crimson suit and sporting a single red eyeglass over his right eye, held a rifle at the ready. Lastly, a woman, donning a flowing green robe, emanated a mystical energy that glowed from her hands.
"start the teleportation spell, Enchantress, and this time, let's land inside," instructed the man in the military attire. "Weapons at hands, squad. We're heading into the most heavily guarded place on Earth. Brace yourselves; this is your riskiest mission yet," he warned the squad, known as the Suicide Squad.
The man with the red armor, known for his unerring accuracy, quipped, "Not as risky as dealing with Waller," referring to Amanda Waller, their formidable handler. The woman in the green attire conjured another veil of emerald smoke, and in the blink of an eye, they disappeared.

"We've arrived," reported the man in military uniform as he and his squad materialized within the fortress. "Hooray for breaking an entery," Harley Quinn cheered, her excitement palpable. The Enchantress, with her peculiar manner of speaking, said, "Yes, the teleportation spell has bypassed their mundane security measures, just as a beast in the zoo tears through the flesh of sacrificial virgins."
"Boomerang, she's referring to you," Deadshot pointed out, eliciting a groan from Boomerang.
"Suicide Squad, stick to the plan. Waller has people topside. Our mission: locate the vault, retrieve the target, and secure the file. Then, make your way out," the man called Flag commanded. Boomerang's attention was briefly diverted to his missing arm, which hadn't made it through the portal.
Suddenly, they heard the unmistakable sound of approaching footsteps. The guards had arrived. "We have a metahuman breach on the lower vault level," the first guard alerted, and they all leveled their weapons at the Suicide Squad. "Alert Mr. Luthor and activate the alarm," the second guard ordered as they prepared for a confrontation.
As you can well imagine with a squad comprised of some of the most dangerous criminals, the guards stood little chance against their onslaught as they moved towards the lower floor. Yet, their fortune was short-lived as a greater threat emerged: a colossal robot clad in an emerald suit of armor, its colossal egg-shaped head bearing the logo. The robot unleashed a blaster blast from its left arm cannon. "Life detected in the area," the robot reported as Enchantress releasing a burst of green energy from her palms that temporarily immobilized the Suicide Squad before they quickly recovered.
"Threat neutralized. Lexbot security shutting down," the robot announced before departing. "I faked our deaths. It believes it's successfully terminated us," the Enchantress explained.

Inside the vault's innermost chamber, Cain's figure emerged, clutching a peculiar disk in his hand. With calculated precision, he slipped it into a small pouch affixed to his waist. Suddenly, a deafening explosion reverberated through the chamber. Cain sighed, realizing that the Suicide Squad had arrived. He decided to make a hasty retreat.
With a thunderous entrance, the Suicide Squad burst into his location along with An unholy creation, with ashen-gray skin and grotesque tentacles protruding from its body, it wore a suit bearing the letter 'S' across its chest. It hovered menacingly behind them.
"Looks like someone got here before us," observed Harley, the mischievous member of the Suicide Squad, as they came face to face with Cain.
"Amanda, we've got a situation," Flag, their leader, reported. Captain Boomerang promptly launched his deadly boomerang blade at Cain, who evaded it with an agile twist.
"Seems you're not familiar with boomerangs, eh?" Captain Boomerang quipped, grinning as the boomerang came back, only for cain to dodge again, Flag sighed as he issued his command. "All right, squad, retrieve the target." that is when Deadshot took several precise shots, shattering Cain's magical shields."Magical shields," the Enchantress pointed out.
"Of course, why not?" Flag muttered, somewhat exasperated. He then instructed, "Enchantress, he's a magic user. Do your thing." he said to encantress whose hand glowed green, "I'm still trying to bash his head in," Harley chimed in, attempting to juggle battling the eerie Superman and capturing Cain. Their multitasking didn't seem very effective, as Cain swiftly retaliated with a hammer strike followed by a swift kidney kick to Harley, sending her stumbling.
"Where do you think you're running, mortal sorcerer?" the Enchantress taunted. Her voice resonating as she conjured a green mist from her hand. The mist coalesced into a massive ice cup, trapping Cain.
"I've captured the mortal sorcerer," the Enchantress reported, turning away. But the ice prison shattered, releasing a shockwave that knocked everyone, including the twisted Supermen and the Suicide Squad, to the ground.
"Is this the extent of your magic, mortal sorcerer?" the Enchantress mocked.
"Is this the full potential of your task force, Amanda? I'm quite disappointed," Lex Luthor said. The Enchantress teleported away and reappeared, this time with a human woman. She had dark skin, short afro hair, and was dressed for the occasion.
"Them, yes, but I don't know who he is," Amanda pointed at Cain, who was leaning against a wall.
"Who are you, and how did you break into my vault?" Luthor inquired as everyone turned their attention to the enigmatic stranger. Cain glanced at them before struggling to stand.
"It doesn't matter who we are; what matters is our plan," he stated cryptically. He looked at his wrist, as if checking a watch, and added, "Oops, it looks like it's time already."
With that, he disintegrated into nothingness. A look of astonishment spread across the faces of all present. boomerang questioned Enchantress, "Can you do that?"
"Don't insult me, mortal. If you do, you may not have more than your hand left," the Enchantress retorted, almost growling.
"Why couldn't you detect that we were under an illusion?" Amanda asked with a frown. "He didn't seem like an illusion," Luthor mused, looking down at his own knuckles. "Whoever he is, I want him found. I don't like being kept in the dark," Amanda declared into her earpiece as she and her Suicide Squad, or Task Force, exited the building.
