Dashing

Song Jinyi and Song Jun appeared in the kitchen with their unruly bed hair. Qian Meigui followed shortly after.

Song Jinyi rubbed her eyes until she noticed a handsome man sitting on one the seats by the kitchen island. She almost yelped.

"Su Feng?" she called.

Su Feng shot her a dashing grin and Song Ren rolled her eyes at the sight. She handed Su Feng his plate and everyone else took their own plates and served themselves. He looked around for the servants and found none.

He knew Song Ren was courteous but he did not imagine that their were few who worked in their house. But then again, he remembered that CEO Song Rui was a low-profile man who valued the privacy of his family.

Su Feng began eating while Song Ren sat parallel of him. He occasionally glanced at her but she remained calm and casual.

"So, what are you doing here brother Feng?" he heard Jinyi ask.

"My house is undergoing renovations and your mother kindly invited me to stay."

"Doesn't your house have a dozen rooms? You can't sleep on the wing where they are not doing renovations?"

Qian Meigui suppressed a laugh and Song Jun kicked her under the table. "What?" Jinyi questioned her twin irritatingly. "It's clear that he's here for Ren," she said with a broad smile while holding a cup of tea.

Su Feng glanced at Song Ren awkwardly who was watching him. He cleared his throat. "They are using toxins for the reconstruction and the fumes give me a headache. It's dispersed throughout the house," he said with a polite smile.

"All right," Song Jinyi said smiling, and she glanced at him as if they shared a secret. He quickly looked at Ren who continued her meal uninterested.

"What are you planning to do this afternoon?" Qian Meigui asked him changing the topic of conversation. He was grateful for it.

"I'm planning to go to work after breakfast. I was hoping Ren would attend with me."

"No, thank you," Song Ren answered quickly.

"Awh, why not?" Jinyi whined for him. "You're the future lady boss of his company."

Song Ren lowered her fork and said, "And you forget that I am the lady boss of my own company," she said with a grin. "Since it's the weekend, I have to visit the main office since I spent the week studying."

"All right," Su Feng began. "How about I drop you off and pick you up from the office?"

Song Ren gripped her fork hard. "That's all right, I can drive myself."

"But Song Pharmaceuticals is on the way to Sun Group; I'm sure we can help the environment by carpooling."

"My car is electric," she said, ending the conversation.

Su Feng could never win with her in an argument and it had been like that since they met.

"What time will you be home tonight?" he asked.

"Does it matter?"

"6 in the evening. That's usually the time she's home during the weekend." Jinyi said in her stead, refusing to feel the second-hand embarrassment. She scolded Song Ren in her heart. How could her eldest sister be so cold?

Su Feng smiled, "I'll see you then." He rose and headed towards the guest room. Song Ren sighed deeply. "Why do you treat him like that? he's trying to be your friend." Jinyi knew that Su Feng's feeling are beyond friendship, but she knew Song Ren would never accept the possibility.

Song Ren kept quiet. Jinyi was right. She thought that she could settle for any man but she realized that with Su Feng, they shared a lot of history. She was willing to settle things with him but she had to set boundaries and work on their friendship.
