Safiya woke up earlier than usual. How could she sleep properly after what had happened last night? She had been foolish, giving herself to someone who didn't even love her. How could he? How could he do this to her? After she had been so vulnerable, how could she open herself to him, only for him to just discard it like that, and throw it back in her face? Why? Why?
She took a deep breath and reminded herself not to think of him, to focus on staying free from distraction. She would not allow herself to dwell on him; whatever had happened last night was simply a mistake that would never be repeated.
As sunlight streamed in through the window, Safiya sighed and hesitated to leave the room. She didn't want to face him, so she remained huddled in the room until a knock came at the door.
