"DAMMIT!" Shin's bleeding fist continuously punch the broken wall to pieces.
"You're just hurting yourself..." I whispered. She's back with him... she's back there... and Misa's there too. Everyone's there... what do I do? What can I do? Hey... Grail isn't that bad right? He's nowhere near as bad as my tormentor... right?
"And why didn't you do anything?!" Shin grabbed the rubble from the remains of the wall and threw it at me. It was an exhausted throw, slow and predictable, but I couldn't dodge it. Smacking me in the face, I felt nothing. Will they become like me?
Shin's right... I didn't do anything. I stood there and watched. Why didn't I do anything? Maybe if I did something Fay would be here. Maybe I did something I could've saved Misa no-
"What could she have done?" Felix asked, stopping Shin's tantrum, making him think.
"He had the teleport circle on him. Any moment he would've gone and we wouldn't be able to do crap," Damon's usual carefree demeanour disappeared to reveal a face as angry as Shin's, "I couldn't do crap..."
Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
I should've killed him the moment I saw him that night!
Fighting the urge to strike the wall like Shin, I stopped in front of another wall to rest my head on it. I knocked it lightly again and again and again and again.
I knew there was a high chance it would happen...
I knew it... but expecting and experiencing is different...
"I'm sorry," Felix kneeled down to Damon and I.
Sorry?
"What for?" Damon asked
"If only I had been with you all from the start this wouldn't have happened. I could've pushed the idea of me teaching all of you how this world worked. I could've protected you from the cave incident. I could've protected the lost ones from the demons' grasp. Now I see the repercussions of my actions... now I see the aftermath of my neglect. I see a former human possessing such an artificial black aura," Felix looked at me with regret written all over his face.
"Hey..." I tried to put on a little bit of a happy expression, "I'm not exactly the paragon of humanity. Never stuck out for it... Shin deserves the apology more than me," I directed my hands towards him.
"S-Shin?" A voice of a terrified boy followed with the kid tripping onto the floor as he crawled away from Shin as far as possible.
"Listen, I don't have the mental capacity to deal with me being FALSELY accused right now!" Shin smacked the wall one more time for safety measures.
"Right... Shin didn't do it. Thought I should say..." I won't tell you who did though...
"What do you mean? I saw him! I saw his face! If he's so innocent then take your mask off!" The king sat in the corner, his hand trembling. You know... his brothers really should've taken his position no matter how much of the favourite child he was...
Also, of course, the kid saw Shin. That's how illusions work. "You saw Shin's face, I'm positive. It's an illusion of Shin's face."
"Illusion?" Felix asked
"Yep."
"How are you so sure?" Aurelius asked, sceptical.
Shin doesn't have a lot of things backing him up, but the thing is he's not the type of person to lie. That's not hard evidence, but the fact is that Hiro did it. It's a crime with little flaw without accounting for the fact that the assassination was so easy. Pinning the blame on a recent escapee from the prison would also make sense if no one trustworthy can confirm his whereabouts during the crime. I can't just say 'I know he is,'. What can I say?
"Because I know who did it,"
"You knew?!" Both Shin and Aurelius shouted.
"Confidential information I'm afraid," Just because I know doesn't mean I'm gonna snitch.
"You're protecting a murderer?!" Aurelius stood up.
"They did it because of Rex's orders. Why would I fault someone for following instructions?" See what I just did is an ancient tactic passed down through centuries of humanity's existence, it's called lying.
Hiro didn't follow Rex's orders... he fricking suggested it. Mad lad's ruining my plan till this day cause of that.
"So the demon king is to blame..." Aurelius had a vicious gaze on Damon.
"Well..." Rex didn't do crap here... I can't just blame him... "Technically it's also not his fault... he has many advisors and maybe it was the public's interest."
"Then who can I blame?" He showed his intent without deception... like Shin, he wants someone to blame.
"If I'm talking to the kid, I'd say blame the killer," It is the easiest option...
"Alrigh-"
"If I'm talking to the king, I'd say blame no one. A king needs not concern himself with the past actions of others, but the future actions that will benefit one's kingdom." It's vague as hell, but sometimes when I have no idea what I'm saying, it leaves enough room for smarter people to interpret something meaningful out of it... or maybe I'm just spouting nonsense, it could be both.
"So who are you talking to then? The kid or the king?" Aurelius started to look a little irritated.
"Who are you? Who the do you think you are?"
"What's the supposed to mea-"
"SH" Felix hushed Aurelius with a serious concerned expression.
In a matter of milliseconds, the atmosphere switched completely, my eyes widened as my heart starts racing. I look around to find everyone, but Aurelius, paralysed in their spot.
The aura... it's so thick, I find it hard to breathe. "They're here... the old heroes are here,"
