New Gear

"Welcome" the shop owner said as he saw Bell and Glass enter the shop. Standing by the counter, he waited for them without a word as he minded his own business.

Standing by the armory, the two looked around at the various weapons that they had seen the previous time they had visited the shop.

This time, since they had the Valis gained from killing the Monster Rex, they looked at the more expensive gear. Since they were just buying a dagger for Bell, there was no need to look at any other weapons on display.

Looking at the prices of the daggers, the majority of them were under 200,000 Valis. Glass picked up a particular dagger that caught his attention.

The dagger was average being straight on one side and curved on the other side. The part that caught his attention was the thin blue outline on the edge of the blade.

"Hahaha, it seems you have good eyes. That particular one makes me proud" the shop owners said as he looked at Glass holding the dagger in his hand.

"This blue edge, does this dagger have the properties of water?" Glass asked him.

"Indeed, I embedded a gem that someone had given to me in the past. Since I got the gem for free and the dagger itself isn't anything special, it won't cost more than 250,000" the owner nodded.

"What do you think?" Glass asked as he passed the dagger over to Bell.

"Water element gem embedded huh, that would be great against fire element monsters" Bell thought.

"I'll take it" he replied.

"Good, since we still have 150,000 left, let's look at some armor" Glass suggested.

"Yea" Bell agreed.

Looking at the various sets of armor, the two chose the lighter sets to look at since both of them valued speed and agility. A light set of armor would allow them to move more freely. If you think about it, you can't get hurt if you can't get hit!

The sets of armor they explored consisted mostly of leather with some parts made with metals. The average prices of the armor sets were around 50,000 Valis which meant both of them could afford an entire set each!

Looking at the armor, Glass decided to go with a full leather set of armor. Only a small fraction of the armor had metal for protection. Even then, the leather was made from the hide of a strong monster.

From the chest piece, the entire thing was leather while only having metal to protect the heart while the grieves had metal on both knee caps. As for the boots, there was metal on the tip of the shoe cap and finally, the gloves had metal on the opposite side of the palm.

The set came to a total of 75,000 Valis while Bell only bought a new pair of shoes and gloves costing just 15,000 Valis.

After paying the 340,000 Valis to the shop owner who smiled at them, he said "Thank you, please come again" as they walked out the door making the bell chime.

"We still have some Valis left over, do you wanna grab something to eat?" Glass asked.

"Hmm, maybe we can go for some barbequed skewers" Bell replied after pondering for a while. "Oh that sounds good" Glass said as he imagined the steam and juices dripping off the skewers.

Bell and Glass then went for some barbequed meat skewers before heading back to the old church with some food for their Goddess.

By the time they returned, it was already dark. Hestia waited by the church herself and heard them come back.

"Welcome back" she said as Bell handed her the meat skewers they had bought.

"Hehe, meat skewers" Hestia said as drool dripped from the side of her mouth before she took a bite.

Chomp!

Her eyes sparkled like stars as she took another bite out of the skewers while holding her cheeks in delight. Bell and Glass laughed as they watched her eat before returning to their rooms for the night.

The next morning, their wounds had recovered almost completely. The two of them wore their new gear as they headed outside the front of the church where there was lots of space.

Standing across each other in their new gear, Glass said loudly, "You ready?" as he took out the polearm that was dropped by the Monster Rex and pointed it at Bell.

"Yea!" Bell replied as he held the dagger he had just bought in his left hand and the other one in his right in a stance.

"Let's begin" Glass said as both of them turned into blurry figures and dashed at each other in front of the church.

Bang!

Cling!

The polearm and the daggers clashed as the polearm moved to block both daggers within a single motion as if it had predicted exactly where the daggers would land.

The two daggers withdrew as Bell stepped back before slicing the air with his right hand over his shoulder from above Glass, as the latter moved to block that dagger completely before tilting the polearm to block the second attack from the former's left hand.

Ding!

Clash!

Glass blocked the daggers as he lifted the polearm upward throwing Bell into the air as Bell held both daggers in front of his chest in a cross shape and dived downward in the air.

Without looking back, Glass poked the polearm backward and twisted it making it grow in size and knocked Bell out of the air before making it shrink and turn around and swiped the polearm through the air like a whip.
