Chapter 80: The Gift

                                ***The Gift***

You see, a thing about this gift of mine is that I just can't hear anything which I must not hear unless I want to whenever I wished to hear anything, all I needed was a target and a little bit of focus. So now I focussed mine on mom's place.

"My answer remains the same sir, I told you already, you are my boss, I just can't have any relationship with you, except for the employer and employee relationship. Please, sir, I beg your understanding.."

Mom said in her most respectful mood.

"Common Juliet, forget about work for a second, let us talk about us."

The man said to my mom.

"But how is that possible? How can I forget about work? Or are you planning to sack me?"

Mom asked him looking even more inquisitive.

"My God! Why would you think of such? What could possibly give you the impression that I could do such a thing to you? Common Julie, I have been falling for you." 

So the man said in a very serious state. This made me feel quite unrest even when I was dancing with the love of my life. Now I realized the reason mom asked me to join her at this party, was because of this man, he must be the Mr. Onyeka that crazy bitch had in her mind.

"Excuse me, Honey, let me see mom."

So I said to Cynthia before going to mom. When I got there I could see how relieved me, it was written all over her face.

"Mom? Is there any problem?"

So I asked on my arrival at mom's table."

"Oh is this the son of yours? Now I see why you strut whenever you talk about him a lot."

So the man said.

Yeah. He is my son. Damien, meet my boss Mr. Calvin Onyeka, and boss, meet my son Damian."

So mom said, she introduced us to each other in a subtle tone, but I realized that she dont want to sit with him any longer, and I noticed he was her boss, we dont have to anger him or disrespect him, so I checked my wristwatch, it was almost 10:00 so I said.

"Mom, it is late already, I think we have to be going right now."

"Yeah dear, you are definitely right. Got and get your girl let's go."

Mom said and I left the table to Cynthia where I met one man trying to dance with her. So shameless I thought, I just grabbed her by the hand and took her with me, she laughed at the way I took her out of the man's place.

"Hahaha! Dont be too possessive man.?

So she said.

" hahaha. Im not dear, its just time for us to go home. Mom said that I should get you." 

So I said to her as we walked to mom's table hand in hand.

"Im so sorry my Onyeka, we have to go, we also have to drop this beauty up in her house too."
