Betting Everything on Fate
The soldiers charged at me in perfect unison, filled with murderous intent. There was no underestimation or hesitation—nothing held back. One soldier in the center even kicked up dust from the ground, trying to blind me with a well-executed sand attack.
How reliable they were. Truly.
If only we could have fought together as comrades.
Dodging the blinding sand, I rolled to the side.
If I took them head-on, they'd beat me senseless. All it would take is for one or two to grab me and pin me down, and then I'd be finished. They'd disarm me, and that would be the end.
So I had to keep moving. I had to break their formation, disrupt their coordination.
But naturally, the soldiers pursued me as I moved to the side.
They turned cleanly, keeping their line intact, always keeping me in front of them, ready to crush me with their combined force.
