Chapter Ten: Memory Loss

Having breakfast with her family in the morning, Lucinda could feel the killing glare sent to her by her sister. What has she done? She wasn't the one who gave her the punishment. Even if she had a thousand justifications to explain herself to Luciana, the girl would remain obstinate. Her hatred was just crude, and that was skeptical to be obtained by Lucinda. She is a family to them. Part of the family, but she was dealt with worse than a maid.

"Do you like the meal?" King Herald questioned King Blagden. The man hummed as he munched the food in his mouth.

"Why won't he?" Luciana declared with her swollen mouth. Blotches were visible on her body, which made her looked like a slave. A maltreated slave. This was a shame being a princess of the kingdom.

"Stop it, Luciana!" First time in his life, he was able to reprimand his daughter. Luciana, who wasn't used to his yelling, was astonished by his behavior. The chuckle from King Blagden made her more Mad and frenetic.

"You have to put a stop to everything, King Herald. This daughter of yours might put you into your grave early" The man said as he gulped his water.

"I will" Like an obedient puppet, he said as he looked displeased with the way he yelled at his daughter. But, it was already too late, the girl was already upset.

"How are you, Princess Lucinda?" The man questioned as he looked meaningfully into her eyes. Lucinda, who wasn't expecting his sudden greeting, looked at him with an unknown expression before she smiled.

"I'm good" Her voice echoed lowly as she concentrated on her food. She would rather not interfere with their talks. That was the only suitable way to escape from her family's torture.

Making the man close to her, or speaking with him, will always give her father more reasons to make her life a living hell.

" You look bothered. Did something happen?_ His voice sounded as though he was bothered or disturbed, but the look in his eyes were interpreting something different.

Lucinda sighed as she opened her mouth to say something.

"Nothing. I'm not just used to speaking all the time" Well, that wasn't a lie. She was never provided with the opportunity to express herself or mingle with others. She was just a prisoner in the palace and a slave when it comes to maltreatment.

"Really? Well, I wasn't given enough opportunity to speak with you yesterday" He said as he chewed, after swallowing it, he continued speaking. "How did you spend your day yesterday after being rescued from your punishment" He interviewed causing Lucinda to frown a bit. With the way, he said the words, he looked a bit proud of being her savior. Well, why does he want to know how she spent my day?

Well, to show a bit of gratitude, she had to tell him.

"Well, I was…." She suddenly lost her voice. Well, not her voice, but something else. She couldn't remember a thing. Yes, she remembered the part of Lucinda's punishment, but the rest, were blank. She stammered as she tried recalling what happened yesterday.

Gazing up at them, they all stared at her with questioning looks. Of course, they had to, she was behaving weird. Only the devil knows that this wasn't normal. She didn't teleport to the next day, did she? It's Impossible!!

"What's wrong? You can't recollect?" A cunning smile was captured on his lip as she chewed his food. Lucinda was getting more embarrassed as she felt like leaving. But, she couldn't leave. It would create room for stupidity.

"Why won't I? I… I…um. I." Lucinda couldn't say a word. The words were in her mouth, but it wasn't coming out. Presently, confusion was an understatement for what she was going through. This was the strangest thing she has witnessed in her years of existence. Was the Devil manipulating her?

"You can't remember a thing!" He said with conclusion and then suddenly, there was a sly smile that was captured on his lip as he placed the cutleries on the table.

"I…. I can…." She tried not to give up, but she eventually did. This was stupid and terrifying, her demon within was trying to make her believe that she didn't witness yesterday, while her angel was persuading her that this man was behind her curiosity!

"It happens at times but don't worry, you might get to remember," The man said comfortably and feeling relaxed. Lucinda frowned. Perhaps her angel was right. This man has something to do with this.

"Why? It isn't normal to forget how you spent your previous day. Why should I? Do you have something to do with this?" She asked, and the man's eyes widened. Not surprised by her indictment, but to naively prove he had nothing to do with her memory loss.

"Stop it, Lucinda. How dare you accuse him? Do you know who he is?" King Herald, who has been quite suddenly, sprang out like an alarm. Lucinda gnashed her teeth as her frustration and bitterness. reached their limit.
