Last night. . . Kael's POV

Kael had been enjoying his welcome party, looking around for the next minister to torment. It was all going smoothly, even though he knew the humans cursed him in their hearts. He could tell just by looking at their faces, their averted gazes, and forced smiles. They'd rather be anywhere else than in his presence, but that made Kael even happier. They couldn't do what they wanted, but he could do whatever he wished and still get away with it.

Foolish humans, Kael thought to himself, their hate for the one who keeps them safe. In the room filled with a sea of mortals, they despised one person because he was different. Kael enjoyed watching them because the only time humans became united was when they wanted to kill or discard people different from themselves. They wanted to be the only ones on Earth, yet they killed and harmed each other.
