Chapter 1

Book1 - Chapter 1: Transmigration

Hearing the chirp of birds, James opened his eyes and yawned as his tired body complained of his decision of waking up.

A few more minutes...? He shook his head and decided against it, it wasn't good to sleep too much, instead, it would be better for him to stand and practice his morning exercises.

The moment he sat on the bed, however, he felt like he was dreaming. Why did his room look like something from ancient Europe? How in the world did the walls of his apartment change to stone walls?

At that moment a headache assaulted his senses making him flinch for a second as memories flooded his mind.

* * *

"So be it then!" The giant humanoid entity flashed a wicked smile. "I'll give you a system and an elementary cultivation technique so that you can realize your dream of being a cultivator, kekeke! Good luck in your next life!"

* * *

He died and got to ask for a few wishes before reincarnating, but why did it felt like he was tricked?

Apart from that, he also discovered that he had transmigrated to the body of a young boy called Leylin Farlier, son of a minor noble, Viscount John Farlier.

Unfortunately...

"Huh... Six years old? Seriously?"

Leylin shook his head and sighed, to think that he would have to go through this infant phase all over again made his heart pulse with pain.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door.

"Come in."

A girl stepped inside, her hair was a light shade of brown and was braided on both sides, she was wearing a beautiful maid attire with a skirt that went all the way down to her knees, and was holding a plate with a jar of water and a cup in it.

"Good morning, young master Leylin, I brought you water." The girl nodded and after putting the plate on the table next to the bed she stood next to the door waiting for any commands.

Leylin shook his head with a bitter smile on his face, he couldn't help but rub his nose as he drank the water.

"Liz, I'll be practicing some exercise first and I'll take my bath an hour later, please help me prepare a tub of hot water."

Liz flashed a glint of surprise in her eyes, she eyed him for some time, and only a few minutes later did she manage to suppress the weird feeling in her heart, she then nodded and left to complete the tasks.

She was just 15 this year, but she had been taking care of Leylin for three years now, it was to be expected that such a situation would be abnormal for her, thankfully he was still young, and this could be counted simply as a sign of maturity.

Seeing that she left, he reflected on the past with a smile on his face.

After so many years, he finally has the chance to live an interesting life. Having read so many novels before that depicted similar situations, he was excited to live in the limelight.

But first...

The entity said that it was a Proficiency System, but what does that mean?

After thinking for a while, he gave up and decided to train a little bit first. As usual, he completed a few sets of exercises in less than five minutes since he couldn't hold on for long.

The moment he finished it though, a notification appeared before him.

[Common Physical Exercises proficiency raised by +1%]

At the same time, he felt like new information had entered his brain and he felt confident that he could perform the same exercise he just finished better if he did it again...

Is that my system?

Thinking about the possibilities that such a thing could bring to him, he felt like he had hit the jackpot! Wouldn't that make it so that he could master any skill with ease?

Excited by this discovery, he continued to train, and alongside he kept paying attention to the notifications.

[Common Physical Exercises proficiency raised by +1%]

Every time he finished a set, the notification would pop up... and the better his proficiency was, the better he got at exercising!

At first, the feeling wasn't that clear, but the more he tried, the more obvious the effect was. Eventually, he even felt that his body was getting stronger at a visible rate, almost as if the better proficiency also increased the training efficiency!

Lost in the exhilarating feeling of getting stronger, an hour passed without him noticing and Liz came back. This time she opened the door without knocking and was shocked by the sight of her young master sweating like a wanderer on the desert while doing sit-ups.

Seeing the effort he put into his training, she felt that maybe she was hallucinating.

Noticing that she was already back, he stopped the exercise and stood up with some difficulty. He could feel the blood pumping up all over his body as the cooling feeling coming from his lungs forced him to take deep breaths.

The only problem was that after reaching 50% proficiency in Common Physical Exercises there were no more increases in proficiency, he could tell that there was something missing, but he didn't know exactly what was it.

"Is it ready?"

"Yes, young master."

Leylin nodded and followed her to the bathroom, where she later helped him with the shower. He wanted to complain initially but for the sake of keeping his identity a secret, he chose to let fate follow its course.

Having changed his clothes and finished the shower it was time for breakfast.

This world that closely reminded him of medieval Europe wasn't that good for someone to live in, even though he was a noble, the food that he could eat was to say the minimum... edible, it was nothing like the things that you could eat every day back in Earth, there were simply too many issues regarding technology here that has yet to develop.

In comparison, this world seemed to have one thing that his previous one lacks, magic. Not like in Harry Potter or some other popular story, no, it was more complex than that, still, he wasn't that interested in this, if he could learn it eventually, he would make sure to incorporate it in his style, but his real goal was to become a Martial Artist! He wanted to soar the heavens in a flying sword, kill demons with his blinding light of justice, and more! Magic could only play a supportive role in his dream, hehe!

Seeing how he was laughing by himself after sitting at the table, his father that had been waiting for him raised an eyebrow.

"Good morning father, you seem very handsome today, did you become younger or something?" Leylin wanted to make his father happy by using some flattering so that he wouldn't pay attention to any irregularity. He couldn't afford to pretend to be the original Leylin, if anything he had to play the role of the son who wanted to grow stronger or get benefits by saying some pleasant words! This way, his father and his mother - who was currently away visiting her sister - would only take this as a sign that he was starting to have ambitions.

"Pfft!" Because John was drinking water the moment Leylin spoke, a laugh escaped his mouth and with it, a gush of water flowed from his nose making him feel like he almost drowned! "Cough... You must be imagining things my son, your father didn't change anything."

Seeing the red cheeks due to embarrassment, Leylin continued. "That's weird, father does look stronger and manlier than ever today! Like a king that defeated his enemies after a long war!"

"Ahem, that's enough! If I couldn't tell your intentions by now, I could just let someone take away my title, say it, what is it that you want?" His father looked him in the eyes, his gaze filled with tenderness and warmth.

He is indeed the kind of father who would do anything for his son... Leylin thought with a sigh in his heart.

"Father, I remembered that last year you had tried to teach me how to become a knight..." Leylin silently thanked the entity for having made him transmigrate to such a young and well fairing boy, it was easy to go through the important memories because of his age, and thanks to his noble status he had access to some useful things.

He hadn't noticed that earlier but when he had to face his father the pros became evident.

And that of course was without taking into consideration the Elementary cultivation technique that the entity gave him. It's just that he wanted to understand better the things that were related to this world first, after he was done with knight training, it would be time for real cultivation!

"Hm... Have you changed your mind?" John started to have some hope inside his heart, but because he wasn't sure yet he continued skeptical.

"Yes! I want to become stronger, father! Please, teach me." Leylin didn't even have to act at this moment, whether it was weird or not for the original Leylin to do that, he didn't care, because he was saying this from the bottom of his heart and it was the absolute truth. With such a compassionate father, would he even consider for a moment that this isn't his original son but an impostor?

"Hahaha! Heavens are smiling at me, this has to be a blessing!" John cried with happiness, now that his son was finally on the right track, he had to grasp the opportunity before it was lost forever!

"Servant! Pack this food and take it to the training ground, we will continue our breakfast there!" John motioned for a nearby servant to approach.

"Right away sir."

Taking Leylin with him, he rushed to the training ground beside the Farlier mansion.

Nearing the place, Leylin raised his brows and gasped in surprise, for tens of meters ahead, in an area divided only by some haystacks, countless practice tools for knights were laid out on the ground with hundreds of squires training under the guidance of a few dozen of knights.

The Farlier family was what was called Knight Family, in mortal kingdoms that exist in places known as barren lands, the most prominent profession was that of the knight. It was much easier to be trained and raised than a magus and they could be used in a variety of ways. After all, one didn't require talent to become a knight as was the case for magus, hard work alone could turn the frailest of the humans into one.

"Sir!" A man approached seeing Leylin's father and made a military salute.

"Bring me two practice swords and the set of leather armor I had prepared for my son!"

"Aye, aye, sir!" With another salute, the knight nodded and hurried to grab the things his father asked for.

After a minute or so, the man was back carrying everything, he then helped Leylin wear the armor and gave him a sword made of sturdy wood taken from some unknown species of trees.
