"Oh damn..."
"Is something wrong?"
"No. It's just been a while since I came here and even though it's been just a year, I still feel nostalgic."
"Maybe it's because so many things happened back there, and you started feel more attached to the Institute?"
"Probably..."
Amy and Corvin chatted about trivial matters as they got closer to his home.
"Oh, wow. I feel tense for some reason.", he said as he stood in front of his home while holding his hand up to knock.
Knock Knock!
After a second, the door opened. Behind the door was Sally, Corvin's mother.
"Corvin! Welcome back!"
She immediately jumped and hugged her son as soon as she saw him.
"Gh! Mom, I am back."
Sally tightened her hug until Corvin groaned from pain and then seperated from him. She looked at the blonde beauty that came with her son and she was surprised.
"Ah! Did you come back to introduce your girlfriend? Wow, she is so pretty... What's your name? Where are you from?"
Suddenly being bombarded by questions, Amy's tongue accidentally slipped.
"M-My name is Amy, mother. Ah- I-I meant Corvin's mothe-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Sally hugged her tightly as well.
"You can call me mother! Am I really going to have a daughter this beautiful?!"
"Uwaaaa! Uwaaaa!"
From inside the house came the cute and annoying voice of a crying baby. Sally seperated herself from her 'future daughter'.
"Oh, I am sorry, she is crying. You can come inside.", said Sally and went to stop the baby from crying.
"Sh-she is quite energetic, isn't she?"
"Ha-ha..."
*****
In the living room, Sally was seated across Amy and Corvin while holding a baby in her arms. The little creature in her arms with her light brown hair that looks like her mother's and blood red eyes just like her father's was Luna, Corvin's little sister.
"Ahh... So I just misunderstood?"
"Yes, mom. Sorry to disappoint, but we aren't like that."
"I am disappointed... Amy, you can be my daughter if you want, okay? I will help you get this foolish son of mine anytime."
"I-I see. I will keep that in mind..."
"Hey, mom! Don't say unneeded things!"
Having her fill of teasing the younglings, Sally decided to leave it at that. Then she noticed Amy, who has been staring at Luna with greedy eyes while salivating.
"Do you want to play with her?", she asked and held the cute baby towards Amy.
"Can I!?", asked Amy enthusiastically.
"Of course."
"Thank you!"
Amy started to play with Luna's soft cheeks with an expression of overwhelming joy. Corvin stared at the two girls with a slight smile.
'Aren't like that, eh? How long will it take, I wonder?', thought Sally as she stared at the three with a motherly smile.
After more chit chat, Corvin and Amy helped Sally at chores. After the chores were done, Corvin went to meet with Matt, and also introduce Amy. Matt was surprised at first, but soon started to get along well with Amy because of his easygoing personality.
Soon, the sun disappeared and night came. After introducing Amy to his father Charles, and dinner, the two went to sleep. It was time to leave and meet with Noah and Clair in the city.
*****
After meeting at Demice, the four left the city and went to the outskirts of the Werga Mountains. A mountain range that stretched perpendicularly to the coast but curved slightly southwards at the eastern end, which feeds the Brutea River that gets it's name from the nearby kingdom with rain.
After deciding to start searching for a cave from the Werga road, which was a natural pathway located between the twin peaks of Aos, that seperated the Werga mountains into two. Since the steepness near this road was less, they managed to climb half the average height of the mountains and decided to spend the rest of the day just half an hour of walking away from the pathway.
"I am surprised we didn't encounter a single guard before reaching here.", said Noah.
"Why would there be guards in this remote place?"
"Hm? You don't know even though you used to live here? These mountains have been unusually dangerous for a decade. There are always guards stationed near settlements close to the mountains, since a lot of people went missing before."
"Kidnappings?"
"No, the scale is too big, even for the Ale-An's in the south to conduct. It is probably monsters."
"..."
Their chit chat continued with a more lighthearted topic and after setting up their tents and completing their camp, the four went to sleep.
*****
The next day, after packing their things back, the four started on their search by walking towards the eastern twin peak.
As they were walking while talking, Corvin suddenly stopped and everyone else stopped with him.
"Wha-"
"Shh! Something is here."
Rustle Rustle
Soon after, a giant praying mantis appeared from behind the trees.
The giant bug was as tall as a human, and instead of the traditional colour of a praying mantis, green, most of it's body was a bright pink coloured. The spines on it's front legs were coloured black and looked razor sharp.
"It's a monster! There may be more, Noah, get your violin out while I- Noah!?"
When he looked at Noah for a split second to make sure he listened, Corvin saw him standing there, frozen in shock and fear. As Noah sweating from fear, the monster suddenly moved.
Clank!
Corvin blocked the incoming attack with his new white sword.
"Shit! Noah, come back to yourself! Clair, find Noah's violin and give it to him!"
"Okay!"
"Amy, you made the bug poison, right?"
"Yes!"
Clair hurriedly searched through the bags to find the violin.
Swish~ Clank!
"Since it is poison, we might need that thing, there are probably more of these monsters nearby. Get it ready."
"Yes."
The monster tried to attack once again but it's blows were all blocked by Corvin. Corvin moved his sword between the spines on the monster's front legs and using them as a hook, he threw the monster with the help of his magic into the air.
Swing~
The monster tried to fly with it's wings, but Corvin pulled the monster towards himself with his magic and impaled the monster with his sword and split it in half by swinging his sword afterwards.
'That was easy, I guess I don't need his help for these...'
Now that he had time, Corvin turned towards Noah. Clair was trying to talk to Noah, who was standing there in a daze.
"Noah!"
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry..."
"NOAH!"
Slap!
Clair slapped Noah, who wasn't coming back to his senses with just words.
"Huh?"
"Are you back? Are you okay? What happened to you?"
"Th-that monster..."
"What about it?"
"N-Nothing, it just looked like something else... B-But it must not be that, since that one is supposed to be..."
"What are you talking about?"
"N-Nevermind! Let's continue searching for the cave and slay some monsters. I will help with my violin as well.", he said and took the violin from Clair.
