In the middle of a pathway that cut through a forest covered with a thin layer of snow, Amy was looking inside her big backpack.

"Come on.... It should be here... Aha! Right here."

She was searching her bag for tools that would help her make a medicine. She took out her mortar and pestle, a knife, a piece of flint, a couple of bowls, a pouch with plants in it and a pill box. She put everything down and took an empty bottle from her belt. She went to the river nearby and filled it with water.

"Ugh... So cold..."

She came back and started working on her makeshift workshop. She was working hastily, because she didn't know when she would start crying uncontrollably again. Something recently suppressed her emotions, she didn't know what or why, but she wasn't going to not use this chance to her advantage.

She picked up some rocks and put them in the form of a circle and filled the middle of it with leaves and branches. Using her knife and the flint to light up a small campfire, she then puts a large and flat rock on the fire after it grew enough. While the fire was still growing, she searched around to collect some plants and fruits that might be useful to her. Thankfully, the snow wasn't too much to make things hard for her.

After selecting a few ingredients, she placed some leaves on the flat rock to dry them. After warming her hands that got numb from the cold, she boiled some water with a mixture of herbs and fruits inside of it. Once the boiling water turned dark red, she took the ingredients in it out and left the water to boil completely.

She waited for everything to boil off completely and the plants on the fire to dry. Once that was done, she took the dried leaves and crushed them in the mortar. Then she took her knife and started to scrape the residue inside the bowl that once had boiling water in it. She crushed the crystals that formed in the bowl along with the dried leaves.

She then poured a bit of water in the mortar along with some special powder she took out from her bag. As she mixed what was in the mortar, her pestle started to glow purple from time to time. Seeing the light, her eyes widened.

"Aah, even my magic is turning dark. I need to complete this quickly before I break down again."

Feeling her normal emotions coming back, she hastened her hands. The mixture quickly turned into a red paste. She took out a tool from her backpack and poured the paste in the tool. After turning the handle until she couldn't she pushed some mana into the tool and the tool shined purple for a split second and after that, she opened the tool back and took what was inside the tool out.

In her hands were thirty or so pills, coloured red. She put the pills in the pill box, took one out and put the box in her emergency bag on her belt. Her hands were starting to shake from her emotions again. She hastily packed her small camp and started to walk towards her destination again.

After a while, her emotions returned, and her memories of the past flooded her brain once again. Before she lost herself in her depression again, she placed the pill she had in her hand on her tongue and swallowed it with some water.

After a minute or so, her emotions were suppressed so that she wouldn't break down again.

"Much better. Even though it probably has side effects, if I want to end this plague, I need to do this. I need to find that person."

Her beautiful golden eyes, now looking without emotions, she continued on her path.

After a couple days of walking, she found herself in front of the gates of a city. Judging how the compass' needle moved faster than before she knew she was close to her target, meaning the person she is supposed to find is probably in the city at the moment.

Despite that, she felt not much excitement. She started walking towards the gate with a cold expression. When she got in front of the gate, a couple of gurads stopped her, and after confirming her identity, they took her to a hospital. Appearently she might have the plague, so they need to confirm she doesn't before they could take her in the city.

'Whatever, I just need to wait.'

The next day, she saw an increased amount of movement of the compass. She got closer to the outer door of the hospital and started watching anyone who entered the hospital.

After some time, a boy around the same age as her entered the hospital with a couple of paintings and quickly entered another part of the hospital.

After he went out of the hospital without the paintings she felt the air inside the hospital getting slowly fresher. After about ten minutes, the door of the hospital opened again, and this time, another boy the same age as the one before entered.

He was wearing the same white clothes as the other one, and he held a notebook in his hands. Even though his age, he looked like someone who was working on the plague. To confirm this, she checked the compass and sure enough, the compass was pointing at him.

Her heart started to beat slightly faster, even though her emotions were supposed to be suppressed by her pill. She got up and started watching what the boy was doing. The compass in her hands disappeared without her reailzing it, like it served it's purpose and as it did, the compass also left her memories as well.

She saw the boy being stopped by a doctor while trying to enter another room. But the boy didn't stop.

"Corvin Mundy. I came from the Altus Empire to fight the plague."

Hearing his words, her heart started to beat with excitement as if the pill didn't work.

'Finally, I found you...'

Before she could go and talk with him, she was returned to the part she is supposed to be by the doctors. Before she could have a talk with Corvin, drowsiness overcame her and she started to sleep in the hospital.

'I will find you again once I am out of here, Corvin.'

She thought, as she fell asleep.
