"Sit!" Laurel ordered both persons.
"Huh?" They both asked, feigning not hearing her.
"Unless something is wrong with your ears, but I did say, sit." Laurel replied as harshly as she could so she doesn't betray that she was feeling sorry for them.
"Oh, thank you." Doris said and stood up with the help of her daughter Lisa.
"Thank you, sis." Lisa said.
"I'm not your sis, Lisa. Laurel is good enough. Or, better still, Laurel is what Doris gets to call me, only cos I respect her age. You," she called out. "you call me Mrs Edward."
"Mrs Edward?" Lisa asked almost sarcastically and her mother nudged her with her elbow.
"What she means, is that she'll do as you said." Doris interrupted. "Right, Lisa?" She quickly added.
"Yes, yes, I will." Lisa replied uneasily.
