Core Soldier

Ren Lennon was thrown in a bright cold room, which in Burtgundy facility, was known as a cell. His body ached, and hardly had the energy to move. With what energy he had, he sat up and looked around in disbelief at what was to be his new home for a very long time. This cell, he regretably had to admit, was better than most. Besides it being deathly cold, it had a bed with a nice thick mattress in the far left corner. In the far right was a sink with a mirror above and a toilet. In the center of the ceiling was a single bright light that lit the room extremely well. That was all, however. The basic necessitites. In the near right corner of the room was a security surveillence camera. "Better get used to it, soldier. This facility is going to be your hell hole until you die," remarked the guard as a smirk emerged upon his face. SLAM! The guard slammed the door shut, sealing Ren within. The sound echoed throughout the room, his heart sinking as he slowly grasped the situation he was in. Shortly after that, the light went out, engulfing Ren in total darkness. He listened to the guards footsteps as he began to walk down the hallway until they grew distant enough that he could hear them no longer. "DAMNIT!" Ren slamed his fist in the gound as tears began to stream down his face. "Why..... why.... WHY!" On the ground, he curled up into a ball holding his head sobbing. "This... this... If... if only... if only..." Ren continued to sink in despair as he relived the last memory he had of his two friends. He was now all alone, and helpless. Due to the overall exhaustion, he slowly fell asleep on the cold floor of his new cell, his home, alone. Follow the story to find out what happens to Ren; The Core Soldier! I hope you enjoy. The Truth

During the 3 hour run the next morning, Alex was actually able to stay conscious the entire time and was only dragged around for around a half hour. Ren played the role of personal cheerleader, motivating Alex, until he fell. Ren managed to stay ahead of the ATV the entire time and actually pushed the pace faster than normal. At one point, he was running at an upwards of 35 miles per hour! Sergeant Adams and Sergeant Buckley were both very impressed and a little scared of the growth they were observing from Ren.

After the run was finished and Sergeant Buckley left with Alex on his shoulder, Ren went straight to the Sergeant and asked if he could see Dr. Donavin.

"What for?" asked Adams, as he didn't see any wounds or cuts on Ren.

"I have a couple of questions for the Doctor about my core."

"Try me, I have mastered what I can of the core. Maybe I'll have the answer to your questions."

"Good, he fell for it. Now If I'm correct, he is the type of person to just accept what was given him and not dig too much into the details," thought Ren.

"Well, I am curious on the origin of the core. Who invented it? What was the idea behind it? How is the core able to do what it does?" These were actually all questions Ren thought of as soon as he was implanted with the core, but he wasn't concerned with finding those answers. At that point his goal was to just survive.

The Sergeant looked dumstruck, "Well, I never thought about that myself. I suppose I can take you up to his office later this afternoon, maybe he can spare some time to answer those questions. I'm actually curious about that those now too."

Ren smiled, "I knew it, he's a dumbass. The type to shoot first and ask questions later."

The rest of Ren's plan was all a gamble. First was the question if whether said files existed. The second was if he could find a distraction to get the attention of the doctor and Sergeant Adams focused somewhere else before he went looking for the file and find what he is looking for.

After the run, he went and had lunch with Alex. Afterwards, Alex went to his room to sleep, and Ren to his to wait. The sergeant went away to contact Dr. Dovavin and see if he had any time to spare for Ren.

"I have to find out where my parents are," thought Ren as he waited for Sergeant Adams to arrive at his door and escort him to the Doctor's office, if he was free.

A couple of hours later, Ren heard footsteps and the rattling of keys as Adams appoached and unlocked the door.

"Let's go soldier, the doctor gave the green light," Sergeant Adams ordered excitedly. Adams was very curious for the answers that the doctor may have for Ren's questions.

Adams led Ren out of the North building through a bridge that connected all the buildings around the middle area, specifically the one that lead to the East building. There is also a connecting passage along the groud that connects the buildings together.

Once in the East building, the Sergeant lead Ren into the elevator. In the elevator, the sergeant took off his badge and inserted it into a slot on the button panel. The higher floor buttons that were once dark were now lit, indicating that access was granted to these floors.

"Looks like my guess that the medical and research floors were higher up in this building was correct," thought Ren.

Adams pushed the button to the 22nd floor, causing the elevator doors to close and begin climbing. Ren's heart rate began to accelerate as they neared their destination.

They reached the 22nd floor and the elevator doors opened to reveal what looked to be a laboratory devoted to research and other experiments.

"Score!" thought Ren as he celebrated silently so that Adams wouldn't notice.

They exited the elevator towards the entrance of the lab. Here Adams scanned his badge in order to unlock the door and grant them entry. As they entered, they were forced to put on face masks and goggles in order to walk through the lab, which looked absolutely ridiculous. Within this lab were a variety of flasks containing different liquids and containers containing misterious ingrediants. They were also many, what looked to be scientists, who looked very absorbed in their work.

"Exactly who is Dr. Donavin," asked Ren.

"He is the head doctor as well as head researcher at this facility. Most of his work is research, and only takes care of patients that he is particularly interested in, like you," answered Adams.

They headed towards the back of the lab, Adams leading. Ren frantically searched for something to mess with, anything that would case a distraction.

As they were passing through, a women scientist with a white lab coat, face mask, and goggles, set a very large flask that contained a light yellowish liquid onto a table.

"This looks important," thought Ren as he started to grab as many different liquids as possible and dumping them in the very large flask when no one was paying attention. "Oh please let this react in some way."

They reached the doctor's office in the back and entered. As they entered, Ren looked back to see that his mixture started to release some gas. Ren grinned.

"Hello there Mr. Adams, Ren, how are you both today?" welcomed Dr. Donavin. Ren scanned the room with his eyes and found a very large file cabinet in the left corner of the office behind the doctor's desk.

Adams replied first, "I am doing fine doctor. As I was saying when I contacted you, Ren here has some questions..."

They heard some gasps and screams that interrupted the Sergeant. The same women scientist that set the large flask down earlier entered the room soon after.

"Um, Dr. Donavin we have a problem that needs your immediate attention. The new solution that we have been working on for the Commander's project is releasing a fowl gas," said the woman worriedly.

The Doctor sprang up and rushed towards the lab.

"Sergeant Adams, come with me. You can help me try to contain the gas!" ordered Dr. Donavin. Both Sergeant Adams and the Doctor left the office, the entire lab in a panic.

"There really is a God!" rejoiced Ren. He rushed over to the file cabinet and opened the drawer labled: "New Recruits". "This should be labeled recently captured," thought Ren as he sifted through the files for his last name.

"Lennon...Lennon..., come on! Where is my file?" Ren quickly looked over his shoulder to make sure that everyone was still busy dealing with the gas.

He finally found a file labeled "Lennon, Ren". He pulled out the file, opened it, and scanned the contents for anything on his parents. Under parents it read: "Mr. Richard Lennon and Mrs. Anabeth Lennon, see page A3 for details."

Ren quickly flipped to A3. This page provided a detailed description of his parents, as well as different information such as blood type and occupation. What caught Ren's attention was current status....

Richard Lennon current status: Dead
