Max reached out his hand while saying, "Hi I am Max. I am glad to make it in time. I apologize for not introducing myself earlier and mistaking you for a guy, (remembering now what the receptionist explained to him.) but why dress like a guy?" Nancy explained that she is comfortable in these clothes. Max starting teasing her saying that if she knew how to fight then, she would be the perfect little brother, both cute and able to fight. All the girls would fawn over them. Not really knowing how to take his last comment, she just started walking away, with him following right beside her.
They continued talking on their way towards Nancy's' home. Max found out about her changing schools, keeping her mind focused on her studies, while she still enjoys reading and dancing on the side. Nancy found out that they will be going to the same High School and that he is just a year older than her. Happy to hear that he was in his senior year, that way even if she stayed they would end up as complete strangers once again. (He will leave the school, while she will still have one more year of High School to go.)
****************
Nancy's Mom was at home since she only worked during the week and had no plans that weekend. It was just a regular day for her alone at home, hoping that they could stay in this neighborhood at least until her daughter graduated (just at least for two years this time.) She really didn't like that they were constantly moving, not just because of the packing and unpacking, new neighborhoods or surroundings, but mainly because she noticed her daughter's change. She noticed that as her daughter grew, she would bring fewer and fewer friends to their home. After a couple of years, she stopped bringing anyone home. She felt bad for her daughter although she did well as a student as well as a daughter, she didn't have any friends. She noticed her daughter, if not going out with her, would just hang out at a library or practice dancing in their home, no matter how...she ended up seeing her daughter walking home with someone.... all train of thought stopped and she quickly ran to greet them outside.
**************
Nancy and Max were both startled when Nancy's Mom came out to greet them. Nancy's Mom quickly invited him in, getting more "moe" excited since her daughter not only brought a friend home but a tall, handsome, sweet young man at that. Everything happened so quickly that before they knew it, Nancy's Mom had Max sitting on the couch and her daughter sent to her room to get changed since she was home, there was no need to dress like a tomboy.
While Nancy went to change, her Mom went to get some refreshment and snacks for them, while Max was excited, surprised, but excited to be in "his little buddies" home. With her small tomboyish look and being able to talk with her with ease, he forgot about how "he" was she.....well at least until she came back to the living room. Nancy was now looking totally girlish. He looked her up from head to toe in awe. She was wearing a long black blouse, beige leggings, light make-up, and her hair in a loose bun, she even put on dangling earrings that went perfect with her outfit. Without realizing how shocked Max was to the complete 360 turn around she did, Nancy sat down next to him and apologized for being ushered into her home so quickly and explained if he needed to leave he could. He snapped back to his regular self and said that he didn't mind it at all and that hanging out with her (yes, now it is kind of hard for him to think of her as his "little guy". She didn't need to wear revealing clothing to show off her femininity.) was nice.
Her Mom walked in full of energy, giving everyone their drinks, placing the snacks on the table. Then without further ado, the embarrassment started. Her Mom quickly explained how its been soo long since her daughter invited any friends over (forgetting how she was the one who basically dragged him inside before he could say a word.) and was even more surprised that her daughter was able to catch the attention of such a handsome young man when she was dressed as such a tomboy. They both let Nancy's Mom let it all out as anyone could tell her Mother was just too overly excited. Then her Mom started asking him questions, "What's your name? Are from around here? How old are you? Do you work or go to school, or both?" Nancy was about to say something when Max started to answer the questions. Her Mom was ecstatic that Max was a Senior in the same school her daughter will be going to as a Junior. Before they knew it it was already a quarter to six. Nancy's Mom offered him to stay for dinner but when he declined she let him know that he could come over whenever he would like. He said thank you then was about to leave when Nancy's Mom quickly pushed her daughter telling her to walk him out.
Once they were outside, Nancy quickly turned to Max saying thanks for enduring and he explained that he would never have thought to have such an exciting Saturday. They both laughed at that. Max then said he doesn't live too far from her house and that he could pick her up for school when it starts back up. She said ok without a second thought. They said their byes, waving at each other before Nancy went back inside the house and Max turned to walk home. He walked home with a huge smile on his face, happy that he declined to go to play basketball. That day was a day he surely would never forget.
Once inside, Nancy was bombarded with a hug from her Mom. Her Mom explained she was soo happy for her daughter, saying that she could, no that she should bring her friends over especially that Max guy. Nancy sighed giving into her Mom hugging her back. Content to see her Mom soo happy. (No way could she tell her Mom the real reason she befriended Max, not realizing it herself how he will become a big part of her life.) After dinner, Nancy showered, put on her pj's, and was lying on her bed going through everything that had happened all in one afternoon.
She started laughing when she thought about how crazy this afternoon was. She attracted two guys in her disguise, to keep people away, which never has happened before. She was glad though that Max aka "Mr. Fix it" was watching out for her. He not only helped her get that book she wanted and check it out for her, but also protected her from the other man. She enjoyed being able to get along with someone and happy how convenient it was that he was Senior. She started to get a little sad thinking that days like this are limited (so she thinks) before falling asleep.
