Part 6

Jay's POV

After the omega left only did I realized that I never catch his name, not even thinking about asking since the male gave me no chance to question his identity at all.

But he sure did had a strong personality for an omega, that was very much rare to be found these days in omegas.

However, it didn’t mean that I was interested in someone else’s omega, when I clearly saw the mark on his neck as he walked passed by me before leaving the house earlier.

Deciding to focus on the sleeping omega in the bedroom, I took this chance to observe Kayden’s features that I never tried to do even after knowing him for so long.

He had such delicate features.

Long eyelashes.

Small nose.

Pretty plump pink lips.

Clean soft baby skin.

What’s his eye color?

Staring at the closed eyes of the omega, I was attacked when the eyelids fluttered open in slow motion, presenting me with the light brown eye color that seemed to be so enchanting despite not being any special color.

He had such pretty eyes.

"M-Mr. Kleinhaus?” He stuttered out as soon as he recognized me, and I cleared my throat before responding, getting my head straight on the situation I was in right now.

"Yes,” acting calm, I just observed tentatively the omega’s every reaction in front of me.

He winced as he tried to sit up, and I guessed the omega earlier was saying the truth about how bad Kayden's condition was. I stopped him from getting up, but the omega insisted on sitting, thus I assisted him a little when he had difficulty in placing the pillow behind his back.

"Where’s my friend?” his first question upon wakening up was to ask for his friend, and I felt a bit more irritated than I was supposed to because he was not as curious as I thought he'd be when he saw me in his house.

"Are you talking about Taylor Hunt or his omega?” My question seemed to shock him, and it occurred to me that he might not be aware of the situation that happened at the office a few hours ago.

"Taylor?” he look puzzled, and his questioned confirmed my assumption to be correct right away.

"He paid me a visit at the office earlier,” telling him short, the omega frowned upon the news reaching his ears, and I took notice of the change in his scent immediately.

Worry.

Anxious.

Afraid.

"I never heard about him going to meet you, sir. I’m sorry that he had disturbed you during your working hours," apologizing easily like he always did even when he had no involvement in the issue at all, I just breathed out before shaking my head.

"It’s okay, it’s nothing bad” trying to calm the omega, it seemed that my short comfort worked instantly when he looked calmer now.

"So that's not the reason you're here?” he mumbled slow, fiddling with his fingers, afraid to meet my eyes.

"No, I'm here to look for you” I answered short, and managed to catch his eyes a second before he looked away again.

"If you want me back in the office, I can try to come in earlier?” he asked, hesitation evident in his voice at which I wouldn’t be able to figure out why if Taylor didn’t already tell me about it during his outburst.

If I didn't know that he was going to have his heat the day after tomorrow, I would've agreed in a second.

We were swamped with works and meetings, always chasing deadlines due to me sometimes deciding to take over more work than I could possibly handle, but not even once this secretary of mine complained about it.

"No need for that. You have applied for the leave, and I have approved them. I'm not someone who went back on their word,”

"Are you sure, Mr. Kleinhaus? Or maybe I can do some work from home?” he offered still, never telling me his upcoming situation, and I gritted my teeth at his unnecessary stubbornness.

"No, and that's final. Now that you’re awake, I'll have you know that I'll be here until you recovered,” telling the omega, his forehead creased when he frowned upon hearing my words.

"What do you mean?” he questioned, again, with a frown decorating his forehead, puzzled at my words.

"I was told to look after you by your omega friend. What do you want to eat for dinner?” Looking around his simple bedroom before standing up wanting to make my way to the kitchen, I halted my movement when a small tug was felt at the end of my shirt sleeve.

"N-no it's okay, sir. I can take care of myself," the omega declined without hesitation in his voice, trying to look okay in front of me, but I could see through that poor act easily.

How can I not realized how bad my rut had affected the omega before?

"In that condition, Mr. Miller? I don't think so," looking down to his shaky frail hand that was still holding onto me, I watched as Kayden bit the inside of his cheek at my comment.

"Mr. Kleinhaus, you're busy. I don't want to be a burden, you don't have to be here," he tried to convince me to go by mentioning work, knowing how easily I was persuaded when work was involved.

And I admitted that I might have been swayed if I didn’t see the bruises on his arms as he loosened his grip on my sleeve and put down his hand on his lap.

"Then try to stand up on your own. If you managed to do that, I'll leave you be and go back to the office,"

"I -"

"You can't?" pushing him just because I wanted him to quickly give up and accept my offer as it is, I immediately knew I thought wrong about this omega when his eyes glinted at my challenge.

Looking at the omega's flushed face, he bit his lip at my challenge, before slowly pulling away the comforter from his body.

I observed as he tried to control his expression from showing the pain he was experiencing with every move he made, and I clenched my jaw quietly as he brought his legs down by the bedside.

He's full of bruises.

How bad did I do him last night?

I knew that I went rough, but this is worse than I thought.
