Todd looked it up and down before stepping closer. “What the hell is kept in here?”
“Themost powerful tool. Information.” Nick stood in the entrance, waiting for his mate to stop inspecting the door. As soon as they crossed into the archive, they were hit with a gust of frigid air. Nick pulled the door closed and made adjustments to the locking mechanism. “I used to practice watching without looking like I was doing anything but staring at the ground while waiting for one of the tutors or elders to set this lock.”
“This is creepy. Are you sure we won’t get locked in here?”
Nick snorted. “This from the guy who hunts down ghosts. The door doesn’t actually lock, but this knob here, turn it to the right and the catch mechanism only opens from inside. You can’t set it from the outside.”
“Good to know.” Todd walked along the end of the rows of shelves, glancing up and down but not examining anything very closely.
“So, the cold air?”
