The Right Path 2

Heng had thought of what to say to the two cultivators before he spoke to them, but in order to make his train of thought more convincing he decided to mix it with a legend from his old world,  the one and one ' Minotaur and the Labyrinth '

"Noble cultivators,  this is a story that one reached my ears, and it's situation is close to ours, but I wont bore you with the cumbersome details,  and I'll get straight to the point.

There once existed a powerful monster that roamed a certain country. This beast was very powerful and dangerous,  killed numerous people to feast on them and even destroyed anything in its path. It was a natural disaster to everyone,  but unfortunately no one was strong enough to beast it in combat,  so the ruler of the country ordered the construction of a formation to trap the beast. And trap it they did,  trap it inside a huge and bizarre formation the beast couldn't ever escape from."

Hearing this the Lai Sen's eyes narrowed as he was being compared to beast by the soldier before him, but sensing no I'll will, he didn't do anything. Heng on the other hand continued to recount his story,  not knowing he had almost earned the ire of a true cultivator who could immediately end his life.

....and so many years passed I peace,  but even though the formation was inescapable, I wasn't indestructible. The beast was powerful and relentless and it rampaged inside the formation constantly,  so the rules steeled his heart and did what he could.  Even year several people of his domain were sent to be sacrifices into the formation,  their flesh smeared with a kind of sedative which put the beast to sleep,  but it never lasted to long. The people were beginning to rebel as they were made into nothingore than livestock to be fed to the beast...but fortunately for the ruler,  a powerful cultivator wanting to prove himself accepted to kill the beast." said Hend as he reached the culminating part of his story so he raised his head to see the focused faces of the two cultivators. The sister seemed to be immersed into the story, and the brother seemed to be thinking of something.

"But  even with the powerful cultivator willing to kill the beast,  the formation was to complex, and if he entered he also wouldn't come back,  so a very long ball of thread was given to him so when he entered he would unwind it along the path he choose. So with the ball of thread the cultivator entered the formation, killed the beast  and he followed the thread all the way he came from....." ended Heng his story,  but the two cultivators were still confused about what he was trying to say.  Seeing this Heng didn't waste any time,  and pointed at the fallen bamboo.

"Like with the thread,  we will instead follow the fallen bamboo, reach it's end,  and then fell another bamboo in the same direction. We then repeat that until we get out. Uhhh.....that's it....

The two cultivators were left speechless as they looked at Heng and then at the bamboo on the ground. They wanted to say that it was impossible,  that something like this was stupid,  but they couldn't really find anything wrong with anything. Lai Sen gave a forced smile and spoke at the silent Heng.

"You.....what is your name?"

"My name is Qin Heng, sir."

"Good, a good name for a soldier. The army of the Blue Tiger Kingdom has some hidden talents for sure. Qin Heng,  if your idea works,  I , Lai Sen will be in your debt. "

"Debt, how can I....

"Stop! These words I spoke can't be taken back anymore, so let it be. "

Seeing that Lai Sen was serious , he just lowered his head and thanked him. He was also happy that they accepted his idea so quickly,  but he didn't have time to think about it as he was immediately put to work as he and the other soldiers begun to chop the bamboos.

.......

After an hour of chopping bamboos and closely following their fallen form , they finally arrived at the end of the formation.

*chirp...chirp~

"We're out...." said Lai Sen as he heard the sound of birds again,  but to he sure he took a rock and threw it forward. The rock didn't dissappear from his sight,  and the sound corresponded to where it landed.

"Brother Sen, were really out!"

"It seems so....

The two cultivators still couldn't believe it as they had almost resigned to their fate, but a normal soldier, someone who knew nothing about formations managed to bring them here. Lai Sen saw not far from him a stream of pure water,  and his eyes shone with knowledge. He knew that nothing inside this place was random,  and even less a stream such as this.

' This is great, the heavens are finally shining upon us.'

He ordered a five minutes rest as he gathered his thoughts,  and also for the soldiers to rest, but one of them was feeling fidgety. His vision narrowed once , but after that it stopped and didn't anymore. Heng wanted to think of it as a trick of his mind, but he failed to convince himself.
