Trap

"I've been in the world of 'Destiny' for almost 5 hours now. As an orphan with few insignificant friends, I don't feel much concern for those I left behind on Earth.

In truth, I'm much happier here, as I've always dreamed of being isekai-ed, and that dream has finally come true.

However, the constant fear of making even a small mistake and facing dire consequences looms over me like a sword hanging above my neck."

He was 22 years old on Earth.

Lost in contemplation, Montu scoured the shop for something to purchase. "Ah, here it is. Let's buy this and get ready to annihilate those green scums," he muttered to himself.

The cost for the items he wanted was as follows:

Shovel = 48 gold

Iron spike = 20 gold (each)

"F**k, I don't even have enough gold to buy a shovel and few spikes. I'll just have to settle for the shovel and come up with another plan to take them down," Montu grumbled in frustration.

With that, Montu purchased the shovel and received a notification, "The shovel has been successfully added to your inventory."

Montu inspected the shovel closely, noting, "This item is surprisingly robust, considering it only cost me 48 gold."

Satisfied with his purchase, Montu returned the shovel to his inventory and continued on his way, putting some distance between himself and the goblin camp. After walking for about half a mile, Montu halted and surveyed his surroundings. The area was uninhabited, with only trees in sight and no immediate danger from monsters.

Montu reassured himself, "This seems to be a safe enough distance from the goblins. Now, all I need to do is carry out my plan without any unforeseen obstacles."

Montu retrieved the shovel from his inventory and began digging a hole at the location he had chosen. For seven hours straight, he worked tirelessly, without feeling even a hint of exhaustion, owing to his undead nature.

Finally, he finished digging a trap that was nine feet deep and three feet wide.

As he surveyed his handiwork, he realized that merely falling into the pit wouldn't be enough to eliminate the goblins.

"I don't have enough gold to buy spikes to finish them off," Montu muttered in frustration, looking around for a solution.

Just then, the system whispered to him, "You can make them yourself."

"And how am I supposed to do that."

[^_^]

"Why don't you answer now?"

Montu was left confused when the system didn't reply to his question about how to make spikes himself. Undeterred, he decided to think about a solution himself.

He walked over to a nearby tree and broke off a thick branch. As he searched for other usable branches, he realized that they weren't sharp enough to penetrate the skin of the goblins.

Montu thought for a moment before resolving to find a way to sharpen the branches.

Looking around, Montu scoured the ground for any rocks or stones that could be used to sharpen the branches. After a few minutes of searching, he found a few suitable stones and began to sharpen the branches.

With persistence and patience, Montu was able to create makeshift spikes using the branches and stones.

"Ha! I did it," Montu exclaimed, admiring his work. "Let's head back to the pit and finish off those pesky goblins once and for all!"

As Montu emerged from the hole where he had placed sharp branches at the bottom, the morning light fell upon him. He felt content with his achievement and proceeded to conceal the opening with leaves and dirt.

Upon completing the task, he received a congratulatory message from the System, informing him that he had earned two stat points for successfully creating a rudimentary trap.

This news filled Montu with even greater joy. Eager to capitalize on his newfound success, he promptly accessed his profile and allocated one point to each of his strength and speed attributes.

Montu experienced a faint tingling sensation in his body and promptly closed the system before retrieving his shovel from his inventory. He began to strike his own arm with the tool, eventually severing it from his body. Carefully, he laid the dismembered limb atop the trap. His current health was reduced to twenty-six out of thirty-five points.

HP = 26/35

Several hours later, Montu's arm had regenerated, and he set off towards the goblin camp. As he journeyed, a message appeared indicating that his proficiency in regeneration had increased.

Regeneration proficiency increased

(60/100)

"What is a stupid arm doing in the middle of the forest,I should remove it before the young lady sees this disgusting thing."

As Montu approached the Goblin camp, he was startled to receive a notification informing him that he had killed a Level 5 Human and earned a reward of 530 Experience points and 300 gold.

The sudden news of his supposed murder and subsequent leveling up confused Montu, causing him to wonder when and how he had killed someone.

[You have Lvl upped, and received 3 stat points]

Then, a realization dawned on him that the individual must have fallen into the trap he had set and perished as a result.

Montu had no qualms about accepting the free experience points, nor did he consider the value of the human life he had taken.

After accessing his profile, he allocated two points to his strength and one point to his speed attributes. He then proceeded towards his trap, which he reached after a few minutes of walking.

Upon arrival, he observed several humans gathered near the trap, consisting of four men and a young girl, who appeared to be around fifteen years old.

They were standing in close proximity to the trap, which was now clearly visible and contained the corpse of the unfortunate victim who had fallen prey to Montu's device.

Montu observed the humans conversing in an unfamiliar language that he was unable to comprehend.

He attributed this inability to his monstrous nature and queried the system, asking if there was a way for him to understand their speech.

The system responded that he could purchase "Native Language Understanding" from the shop, which was not a skill but rather a form of knowledge that could be implanted directly into his brain.

After navigating to the shop, Montu located the item for 250 gold and, despite feeling hesitant to spend his recently acquired wealth, ultimately decided that the ability to communicate with others was worth the expense.

He promptly purchased the product, and the language was instantaneously assimilated into his mind.
