Glossary / Words to Know

A

•Agartha: An alternate world filled with the magical energy of Prana.

•Ab Imperii Condita (AIC): "From the Founding of the Empire", sometimes also styled as the "Imperial Year". A term denoting the years that have passed since the founding of the ancient Holy Latium Empire.

•Arcane Weapon: A magical weapon created by the latest Prana technologies. Superior to the average firearm in terms of versatility, range, and rate of fire.

•Confederation: An organised union of smaller countries where, unlike a federation, each pretty much has their own autonomy on most matters.

D

•Diet: A legislative assembly, usually made up of appointed or elected representatives to advise a monarch in matters of governance. Usually has limited real political power compared to a parliament.

•Divine Weapon: A weapon of mass destruction, capable of exerting significant damage to an entire army.

E

•Eintracht: A Serrenlander term, meaning, "harmony" or a friendly agreement of understanding between states or factions.

•Edelweiss: A magefolk association, headquartered on the flying tower of Hexenhaus. Technically an important branch of the Weiss military.

•Greater Serrenlander Solution: A proposal to unify all of Serrenlander-speaking countries into a united state of "Serrenland". The lesser version makes Osterland an exception.

•Holy Latium Empire (Sacrum Latium Imperum): A deteriorating union of semi-independent territories headed by an Osterlander emperor. It was shattered and ensuingly succeeded by the Serrenlander Confederation after a continent-wide war occurred between the great powers.

•Imperial Calendar: A calendar consisting of a total of twelve months. From the first to the last: Unusber, Dober, Treber, Katterber, Gineber, Sechster, September, Oktober, November, Dezember, Undezember, Dodezember.

•Intellectual: Philosophers and thinkers of the age. They were committed to reason, understand, and analyse the world around them for the sake of truth and education.

•Mark (Serrenlander Mark): A unit among the many currencies in circulation within the Serrenlander Confederation. A mark is equal to 100 pfennigs.

•Magefolk: Rare few individuals, usually females, capable of converting Prana into tangible form and effects. Despite their remarkable abilities, they have long been persecuted and discriminated against throughout the continent.

•Metre: A unit of length measurement. One metre is equal to one ten-millionth of the distance between the North Pole to the Equator. Negligibly longer than the current metre (or meter) on Earth.

•Noblesse Oblige: The idea that people of high position are responsible to act honourably and generous towards the less-privileged.

•Parliament: A legislative assembly, usually made up of elected representatives to discuss and vote on laws and governing decisions.

•Prana: the foundation of magic in Agartha. It allowed the existence of supernatural phenomena that bend the common sense of contemporary Earth.

•Pranaite: A crystallised form of Prana that can only be made by Prana reactors. It can be used with a variety of purposes, from activating arcane weapons to powering up factory machineries.

•Prana Engine: An engine that converts energy from a Pranaite into real work with the guide of a Prana Matrix.

•Prana Matrix: A matrix of specially-designed materials to conduct and regulate Prana through layers of modules. The modules calculate how specific tasks are casted.

•Prana Reactor: A machinery that gathers and processes Prana from the ley lines. It allows materialisation of Prana through artificial means that do not require the mediation of a mage.

•Reform: Changes made to the existing law or policy with the aim to improve it.

Ruppel-Brocken (Ruppel-Brocken Industries): One of the largest companies of the continent at the time. Mainly involved in engines and weapons manufacturing.

•Serrenlander: A term referring to people of the same Serrenlander-speaking culture who lived within the confederation.

•Vell: A unit of Prana measurement.

•Wars of Liberation: A series of wars spanning the entire Western Peninsula between the great powers and many other countries that had resulted in catastrophic losses suffered by its participants.

•Western Peninsula: The name of the continent in the far north-western side of the old known world.

Z

•Zauberbrunnen: A state-sponsored Ruppel-Brocken subsidiary. Dealt with Prana-tech devices, including the development of Prana military armaments.

•Zollverein: A customs union established among the states of the Serrenlander Confederation. It promotes free trade and economic unity for its members.
