Chapter 69

Reaching the room John proceeded to go through the various bits of papers and documents stuck to the wall, taking some down and ripping up some others much to both Alice and Ash's confusion before making his way to the desk to inspect the books upon it.

"Uhm why did you rip those up? Weren't they important stuff, I mean Im pretty sure one of those had a long list of cheat codes for the merchants or something on them that would give us a lot of discounts or free stuff." Alice couldn't help but ask getting a surprised look from Ash as John stopped for a moment to look at her with a amused grin.

"Nope, I'm pretty sure the ones I tore up are trolling, I mean '80085' and ;1337' are things from back when I was in school as jokes, so I'm pretty sure those papers where fake, I will give them a try but I am far from hopeful, It would probably be better just say something like 'Salami on Sesami seed bun' and hope for a reaction. As for the other, papers, well there long string of numbers that would be used on sites to bring up hentai of all sorts, I know because I kept some on my pc, but I am more than willing to share it if we ever get my drives working on a system." John tells her with a cheeky smile getting a blush at her realizing he had good reason for it but didn't need to know that last part only made worse by Ash's laughing and wanting to know about what his preferences where.

What followed soon after that was more joking and laughter as Ash took full advantage of Alices innocents in regards to hentai and proceeded to mention various kinds causing her to blush more and more till she almost passed out much to johns amusement who added his own little bits from time to time all well declaring himself a man of culture. It all honestly felt rather pleasant and he enjoyed this moment of fun at Alices expense as he went over the books and bits of paper on the desk but finding most of their pages blank and upon touching the small booklet, it seemed to dissolve like dust in the wind and sink into his palm, his mind filling with unknown words ruining the moment as he bit back a moan of pain, but as quickly as it happened it seemed to be over.

"Before you ask, no I have no idea what the hell that was or what happened, but I felt a very sharp pain in my brain that lasted a few moments that from my vast media experience tells me it imparted something into my mind that won't have any relevants currently like some kind of skill needing a trigger or a passive or it could even be a sleeping possession that will either create a spirit later who will try to take my body or help me as a guide before being taken away and needing rescue, either way it's not worth worrying about right now so let's go take a breather. I'm starting to feel really hungry at the moment after all, do we still have any noodles or ramen?" He asks to try and lighten the mood after seeing there concerned looks but the pair choosing to trust him, if need be they would take action but without knowing what was happening they could only trust him.

"Lucky for you Lesh managed to gather some, its in the storeroom, I can have May make you a pack if you want." Alice offers trying to be helpful but received a headshake from John.

Thanks but no thanks, this is something I will do, no offense to her but my ramen is my own, I make it a certain way and that's that, also I eat 2 packs at a time not one." He says rubbing his head in embarrassment at the last part getting a laugh from the girls.

And just like that the trio left the planning area and proceeded to the kitchens where May seemed quite busy milling around, a smile on her face as Lacy seemed to be helping as best she could by bringing various vegetables and some meat, whatever May asked for she seemed to fetch and bring like a handy helper.

Looking at the kitchen itself John was rather impressed, the tables had solid stone tops, a large sink area seemed to be at one side with a wooden pipe capped with a piece of wood and string sticking out of it. A few gas stoves in a neat line and their bottles in stone blocks behind them and all the utensils from spatulas to whisks and sieves hanging form thin hook like roots coming out the roof. Open cupboards and shelves seemingly shaped into the walls had various pots and pans and even wooden plates and bowls, along the counter where various bowl like indents each having wooden knives, forks or spoons of various sizes all divided neatly even cutting boards of various shapes and sizes could be seen neatly ordered against the wall and various handles sticking out the counter holding large knives of various types.

"Sorry to bug you, I was hoping I could use one of the gas stoves, oh and a bowl, pot and sieve please, I'm craving some ramen like you wouldn't believe." John's words seemed to draw the pairs focus who smiled at him and gladly got him what he asked for.

Well making the ramen he sent the pair of Alice and Ash to go and inform everyone about what they had learnt from the imp, they seemed to be against it feeling it should be a secret for his inner circle once he forms it but John was firm and adamant, if the people where trusting him to look after them, albeit through Lesh and Braedon's actions he would play open cards with them in return, only if it where something extreme would he keep it from them, leaving the pair to wonder what he would feel is extreme if this wasn't.

After they had left John proceeded to make his snack meal well talking with Lacy and May, at first they seemed extremely nervous as Lesh was the only real experience that had with John and this was very different, but as he tried talking about there passions they slowly relaxed and opened up to him and finding that he was a rather pleasant person.

John was glad about this, he wanted this exact reaction from them knowing it would spread to the others and allow him to have a good image in the minds of his followers. It also served a secondary purpose as once they seemed comfortable with him and he explained with embarrassment that he didn't get Lesh's memories so he only knows form notes they happily told him of the others in his camp, there thoughts on the various people and there actions and so forth, many people underestimate the wallflowers after all and that was what John had hoped for, as these 2 innocent girls without knowing would become his eyes and ears to keep tabs on the others.

Having long since finished his ramen and having cleaned his utensils and all the items he used he bid them a good day with a smile and a promise to see them around and try to help in the kitchen when he gets free time to do so along with making it one of his top priorities to find some machinery and tech for Lacy much to her joy and further cementing his image in there minds after this small meeting, feeling first impressions really where the most important and following through with Saya's recommendation of faking it around others even if this is probably not what she had meant.
