Things to Come

Lynn was bringing up her last box to her room as she sighed looking at the space. It was huge, looked like she loved it was her Ice Queen theme. Dark Blue walls with white snowflakes her bed frame looked like Ice, and her sheets were like snow. The floor was black and white she had boxes everywhere. She sighed as she looked at them and sunk onto her bed. She pulled a box open, and started to open it. She was going through it when she heard a knock. Looking up she saw Michael, a smile came to her lips. "Hey come on in." She said. Lynn was happy to see him and talk to him. "How you been? How things been around here?" Lynn asked as she, went through the box. Her blue eyes trained on him.

Lynn missed him and being around him. Hell maybe he was the mate she was supposed to be with. However she knew tonight was not just a welcome back of them. It was the naming of the next Alpha or Luna. Her being the oldest, she had the best chance at getting the spot. She wasn't sure she was up to becoming Luna. Though Michael was always on her mind. All the men she been with in the human world, she only slept with a few, but never really had a connection. He was always on her mind and brain, some where in the back of her mind she knew she loved him. Maybe this was it, maybe she was his mate and this was her internal clock telling her she found the one she was to be with. She smiled when she found something in the box he given it to her before she left for college. With a soft sigh her eyes went to him.

Lynn smiled looking at it. It was a box with her necklace that she wore all the time. It was beautiful with sapphires to off set her eyes. She slowly fingered the box as she remembered when He gave it to her. Lynn had kissed him goodbye. She wanted to kiss him now and see if she had any feelings still or if it was just a goodbye feeling left over for 4 years. Her eyes looked up when he lifted her chin to look at her. "Thank you again I still wear it and love it." She told him as she showed him it around her neck. She leaned in closer to him. She smiled when he reciprocate and their lips met. Her hands moved to his chin and lightly lifted it so he was pressed to her lips. She placed her hand on his chest and sighed softly as her lips parted from his, her fierce blue eyes opened and looked at him. She had her mothers Ice colored blue eyes. What she felt before she left was still there it was actually amplified.

Angel looked at her mother when she was called. Her parents were a odd couple not as all over one another as the others. However she knew to keep her mouth shut, she had a clue but the twins and Lynn didn't. She figured it was something they be told later on. They were all under strict orders to not say a word to either of the three. She looked at Shane and the other adults. "I will help Fenris don't worry I got this." She told them. She walked with Fenris helping him with his boxes. "So how was it being away from all this you miss pack life?" She asked as she looked up at him. She was helping him carry a box up to his room.

Ryland smirked and shrugged "I got you Lysander." He said and walked up with his best friend to go help him with his room They talked as they started to set up and the such. Before the three went to grab some rest and the others went to go about their daily pack routine.

Shea rolled her eyes at her sister. She could only handle so much of her and her crazy antics. She wanted to follow her dad's plans and make sure he was the one leading them into a new age where Lycans would rule. She smiled and got up to kiss her dad's cheek. "I am going for a run and then coming back to get ready and work on some stuff." She said and went to go change into her running clothes.

She went down and grabbed a bottle, before putting her ear buds in and going for a run. She made her way into town. However did her best to keep a distance. She knew what her Aunt looked like and her mate. Watching she saw them meet up with another pack. She watched and listened from a far. Her hands twitched wanting to do magic. She held back knowing her Aunt was sensitive to any changes in the air.

Jade got in the truck and drove with Erin Shane and Alyssa to town where they pulled up to the scene and got out. Shane looked at his Luna and Alpha. Jade looked at her mate and love as they walked up. Her eyes shifted to the alley. Walking up, the man who messaged her started to speak. Holding up her hand Jade sniffed as she took in scents if the alley. Her eyes closed as she stood silently. Her body was like stone, as she took what she could. She was trying to peace together what happened when a scent caught her attention. One she could not put her finger on, but she had smelled it before. Her eyes went to across the street. Moving to the scent, she stopped at a brick wall. Her hands lay on the brick as she breathed in where the scent went, yet it stopped here. No trail any where it disappeared. How? She looked around confused. However her nostrils flared when another very familiar scent hit her nose. It wasn't him, but a close relative to her uncle. Her sharp eyes snapped to a spot, where she knew they had been. That was it she lost the scent she been following.

Frustrated Jade slammed her hand into the brick wall making a hole and bits of the bricks to crack off. Her furry had gotten the best of her. Her eyes had gone bright as she growled low. How could it just disappear. The others had examined the body Shane looked at Erin. "This isn't anything we seen before. It's not human, but this is not vampire, lucan or werewolf. It's more a mix, with a hint of magic."He said. "Erin." He said when he heard the crack and nods to Jade. Who was crouched leaning on wall across from the Alley with her head down and nose pinched. Jade looked up when she smelled her mate who was crouched in front of her. She spoke softly. "I know this scent I smelled it before years ago when I was living among the humans there were random attacks, that smell and the one that was here and lingered. I lost it when I caught scent of another presence down that way. Someone related to Ulric and myself was here, I know his scent. It lingers on our Son even if he hasn't been around Fenris." She said making sure Darius couldn't hear any of it. "I don't know what it is. It's not human and it's not of this world." She said and leaned into her mate. She almost growled when she heard a voice. It was Darius. "Let's talk somewhere else." She said nodding to on lookers.

It was as if he had been struck by lightning and set ablaze at the same time. The kiss they shared after 4 years apart was everything he wanted it to be and more, forcing him to control his inner desire that much more. He had truly missed Lynn, since she left, but understood that they all needed to go forth and experience the world for themselves. There was a time, in the beginning, when he feared that this time apart would make them drift apart, but after a talk with his father and then some personal dwelling on his own, he grounded himself. After hearing Jade and Erin's story from his father, he realized that this sort of separation was nothing, and that things would play out the way they were meant to.

As their lips separated, he stared into those beautiful blue eyes. "I'm just glad that you guys are back," he paused for a moment, "Or at the very least, that you're back." He joked. He was still very much intimidated by her brothers. I mean, nobody in his position couldn't be. He was very much infatuated with the daughter of the Alpha and Luna of their Pack, and every member was a walking powerhouse, in their own right. Sibling-wise, Fenris was definitely the one he feared most. Regardless of his true heritage, the guy just gave off an aura of someone who was ready to break you in half if you looked at him wrong. That was certainly going to be a hard bridge of friendship to cross, but he wasn't entirely hopeless at the thought.

"Let's get you unpacked and settled in, huh?" He said, a smile plastered on his face and butterflies in his stomach. He was sure that Lynn was the one for him, and he was ready to do anything, if it was for her sake.

Now that they were all back, he was sure that the naming of their next Alpha would be soon approaching, He was curious as to how things would turn out, though if he had to guess, he'd bet on Lynn. As the oldest, she was practically a shoe-in for the position, and he felt that she was likely the one out of the three that people would respect and follow. No offense to Lysander, but Micheal pictured him as a better soldier than leader. As for Fenris, he didn't think there was anyone that would likely get behind that idea. Plus, aside from Jade's mom, Lynn was the only person that Fenris seemed to listen to or show the upmost respect to.

Fenris smirked at Angel's comment, as they carried boxes to his new room. It wasn't like he didn't miss this place or bring back with the Pack, but there was definitely a difference. On the outside, nobody knew his pedigree, so he never had to worry about those discerning looks or comments that were meant to remind him that he was the black sheep of the Pack. He did his best not to let it get to him, but he'd be lying to himself if he said that he didn't have an enormous chip on his shoulder.

"Not sure I'd say I miss pack-life," he turned to look at Angel, smiling and raising a suggestive brow, "However, there are things here that are worth coming back to."

Out among the humans, he was like a magnet of charisma and charm. He ended up finding out that humans created their own sort of packs on the college campus, in the form of Fraternity and Sorority. The campus Sorority had been more of a playground than a hunting ground for him, but Lynn had reprimanded him for his antics, so he didn't quite devour as many as he could, but it's fair to say that he certainly enjoyed himself. Although, the experience definitely showed him that the human world was no place for him, and that this was certainly a better option. More precisely, the experience showed him how inferior the humans were to them, and got him contemplating about how arrogant a species they were for thinking that they were the apex predators of this world.

"How have things been without me? Your mom throw a party?" He joked, recalling Lexi's tone earlier.

Honestly, he was glad that Angel decided to come with him, he really needed the distraction. His mind was still occupied with that dream he had, that they may have all had, and he didn't want to think about it. It had been so real, to the point that he could feel their blood on his hands and taste the scent of their blood in his nose. The idea of such a thing coming true both frightened him and sickened him at the same time, and was just another thing, in the long list of things, that made him feel not fit for this Pack.

He didn't really bother even thinking about who the next Alpha would be, not caring which of his siblings would take that mantel. Knowing that it most definitely wasn't going to be him felt freeing, he didn't need to worry about the stresses that came with such a burden. He was perfectly fine being a simple soldier among his people or even just maintaining his black sheep status, as his mind began to wander to other things. While he definitely believed in the strength of their Pack and liked the structure of their Pack life, he felt that they were restricting themselves too much. They were clearly the more evolved species, especially their particular bloodline, and he felt like they were placating to the humans by living the way they were. Those were thoughts that he'd keep to himself, for the time being, seeing as though there was a time and place for everything. However, he felt that they were meant for bigger and better things.

Sierra was truly looking forward to going to their Pack's get-together. She was already anticipating the animosity that would pointed toward her, and she was nearly drooling at the thought. While her father was constantly scheming and making plans behind the scenes, she was more of the straight forward type. She was looking forward to seeing their faces, taking in their scents, measuring them, crushing them. She was certainly looking forward to Shea's performance. The girl was cute and she had already decided that she wasn't going to hurt her when things came to a head, but she didn't think the girl was cut out for what their father wanted. Then again, it all hinged on how receptive her target was, which meant that she actually stood more chance than she was given Shea credit for.

She was going to make sure that she had a killer dress for the festivities and that she brought proper gifts. No sense in showing up if you weren't going to do it right. That said, she'd likely need to check and see what Shea planned to wear and bring, too. While she might not really consider the girl her real sister, step-sister, or even in the same league as her, it didn't mean that she could allow others to look down on her....at least not anymore than they were both certainly going to get.

Shea was a curious one, to Sierra. She had yet to see the girl's full powers on display, as Ulric didn't like her to use her magic. His prejudice aside, she wasn't stupid enough to believe that the girl hadn't been practicing on her own, which made her curious. She wondered just how strong Shea's Shadow Magic was, what were its limits, and had she managed to good use of such power. Sierra wondered if there would ever be a chance for her to find out one of these days, or if she'd just have to create an opportunity herself. Thoughts for another time though, as today she'd need to get some shopping done for herself and the festivities. There was also those other two mixed breeds, from a Pack that she had been spying on, that would be there. She was truly looking forward to giving a proper introduction.

Darius now stood with Erin, Jade, and the others, away from the scene and the onlookers. He couldn't read Jade's face, but from their body language he gathered that they likely had more of an inkling of what this was than he did. He could only discern that there hints of magic, but he could decipher no deeper. Now, while he wasn't the reigning Pack in this area, and didn't want to tread on toes by being too forceful, he still wanted answers, because a threat was still a threat.

He twitched his nose before clearing his throat. "Did you get anything significant from the scene?" He inquired, "I can only sense remnants of Magic. The scent is unfamiliar to me, but I know its nothing good." He spoke in a hushed tone, so not to be accidentally overheard, eyes on Jade. He had been watching her the whole time and her reactions told him that she knew something....at least more than he did.

It was clear to Erin that this ordeal was both unique and touched a sore spot for Jade, so he was keen to make sure things didn't get out of pocket during this exchange. Darius was a good man, an Alpha of his own Pack that had moved into the area and was soon to pledge their loyalty under their own Pack. However, since that pledge had yet to be made, his inquiry was bordering on confrontational. He could feel the accusation in the man's eyes, as he stared at Jade, and slowly took a half-step in front of her.

"This isn't something that we know well enough to give answers to," he replied, eyes locking with Darius.

There was a moment when the two men stared each other down and the tension rose. It was a violent one, though. It was a sort of non verbal conversation that the two men had among each other. Darius's gaze told Erin that he knew that they knew more than that and that he wanted to know, while Erin's gaze relayed that he would let him know when he was able to but that this was not the time or place for that discussion. The stare down lasted all of 3 seconds before Darius relaxed his shoulders and sighed, nodding his head in understanding.

For a moment, Alyssa thought that Darius and Erin were about to fight, and was still unsure of what just happened, though she comprehended that some sort of communication had definitely taken place. She had to admit, to herself, that she was a little thrown by the scene. Shane had hit the nail on the head when he said that this wasn't something that they had ever seen before, and the thought of something out there that was freely moving about doing this didn't sit well with her. She was at least grateful that their Luna seemed to have some knowledge, if not all remembered, about such a thing, as she already had enough to think about....namely, her daughter.

She didn't mind that Angelina had a thing for Fenris, but she just worried for her daughter, like any mother would. It was all motherly concerns, not coming from a place of prejudice or malice. She had her reservations in regards to Fenris, but that was simply due to his bloodline, not his conception. It was clear that Ulric's blood ran through the boys veins and she just feared a day when the boy lost control or snapped, and didn't want her daughter in the cross-hairs of such a moment. She hoped her concerns were unwarranted, but a mother never stops worrying about their child.

She chuckled inside her head. 'There was once a time when I thought Jade was insane for the way she acted with Lynn, but I totally get it now,' she thought to herself, as they stood off to the side.

"At the ceremony," Erin said aloud, nodding back to Darius.

Darius gave a small huff, not necessarily happy to have to wait, but having no choice to concede. "The girls are looking forward to coming over, I'm sure they'll be running around all day getting ready," he replied, a small smile cresting his face.

He didn't bring it up, not sure how to say it, but there was a scent that he did recognize that had appeared. It was a scent that had lingered around his territory, but he could never find the source. It was certainly one of their kind, but he had never been able to nail it down to an individual. It was as if they stalked the outer borders of his Pack, never getting too close. This scent, though close to that particular one, was different but also similar.
