The incident that took place 5 years before was an eye opener for her. Maya learnt the true and harsh reality.

She whispered, "If it wasn't for that person. I won't have been alive till now."

"I'll forever be indebted to that person." Maya confessed.

"Jealous peeps and their jealousy is harmful for you and your beauty, Sam. Don't let their idiotic words affect you."

Sam tried to focus more on dolling up. She didn't want to overthink and get wrinkles on her smooth skin.

Others grumbled under their breath but they didn't let their resentment for Samantha be out on their faces.

In the end, Sam pouted to see whether her lips looked fuller.

She turned, "How am I looking?" She asked the girls that were silently waiting for her to be done.

"Gorgeous"

"Beautiful"

"Looking freakin' hot"

"Sexy and very attractive"

They girls showered her with fake praises.

Sam sneered at their compliments.

'Like I am blind and dumb to understand the mockery behind your praises.'

Sam knew and was aware that she wasn't the most beautiful or attractive person out there.

She had seen many beauties in her life and with time it became her insecurity.

She got so insecure about her own appearance that she blackmailed her parents with her own life if they didn't let her have a facial surgery.

During that time Sam was only 15 yet her self doubt and lack of confidence led her to believe that she would always be treated on the basis of her outer appearance by the society.

The behaviour, the manners, the personality never had any importance in the technological advanced world.

Samantha had her own fair share of pain and suffering. Her childhood had given her many scars.

While Sam got lost in her memories of her past. The words spread out that the Devilishly Charming Boss had announced a special meeting regarding the latest project.

He wants the heads of each department to reach there on time. Along with the reports from the last two months up till now.

This uncalled for and surprise meeting made the whole office turn chaotic and upside down.

The employees began to run here and there. The interns hurriedly started to print the reports. While the heads had to do the most of the work. They had to be sure that the data provided to the Devil wasn't fabricated. They need to be extra conscious of the reports.

Since if the end results didn't satisfy him and displeased him, it would be their last day in the office.

The heads had to take the responsibility for any possible mistake done by their department.

For any money fraud or swindling, there were grave punishments.

Cheating and under hand tricks were off the table. Their Devil CEO had always appreciated the real talent. He has never been so greedy that he forgot his own morals.

The silver haired guy ordered his assistant, "I want all the department heads to be in the boardroom in the next thirty mins. They shouldn't be late, then they could kiss goodbye to their positions."

"I'll go and inform them." The assistant replied in the same detached voice.

His assistant exited the Devil's chamber only when he had prepared his black coffee without sugar and milk.

"Good Morning, Mr. Alex."

"Good morning, Leo."

Alex was the assistant of the Devil. Since his position wasn't limited from being the Devil's assistant, he was his right hand.

The Devil had allowed Alex to have his own assistant as he knew that Alex would have to juggle too much in the work.

At first Alex didn't heed to the Devil but later he understood. So he started to interview people for the vacant job of his assistant.

He had interviewed and talked with the girl applicants too. However none seem to qualify.

Alex had given up when the Devil had called him to meet in his office. Where he got to meet his current assistant, Leo.

Leo was a drop out. He belonged to a small village. He was poor with no money to spend on his education so it was hard for him to find any good and stable job. It was sheer luck that his loyalty, honesty and analytical skills had impressed the Devil.

Who gave Leo an exciting offer to work under him. It won't only help with the money but he would also get to learn new things and gain knowledge.

Leo had a big appetite for knowledge yet his poor situation never allowed him to fulfill it.

When the Devil had given the offer, it took time for Leo to process his words. After that he had bowed him down on his knees and took an oath to never betray or cheat the Devil.

Leo had a cheerful and warm persona which helped him to get familiar with both Devil and Alex.

"Leo, I want you to spread it out to the whole company building that the CEO had asked all the Heads of the department to be ready with the last two months report and also for the IT team to give the final results regarding the ongoing project. Meeting starts at 10 am sharp. Tell them to be precisely on time "

Leo nodded and went to complete the task allotted to him without muttering a word.

"Grandma, why did you scare her?"

"Star, what are you talking about?"

"Grandma, you know what I am talking about, don't play these riddles with me."

"I seriously can't understand anything, Star."

"Oh is that so? Then why was the special couple's private room of your restaurant booked under your name?"

"...How?"

"Grandma, you forgot that the one you are trying to trap in your game is your favourite grandchild, your Star?"

The other side let out a sigh, "How could I forget? My Star is the most intelligent and smartest of all."

"Still you are wasting your time in planning to trick her."

"Star, I didn't want to trick you. I just wanted you to go and meet him. If you didn't like him, it was also fine with me. But you can at the very least go and meet him and maybe you can make him your friend."

Silence took over the call on both sides.

Grandma and granddaughter didn't have the heart to argue and make the other party upset.

They didn't like the silence but the granddaughter couldn't say yes to her grandma's request when her heart was shaking with fear and anxiety.

She felt like an animal being trapped in its own habitat.
