Chapter 23

'But all is not lost, what I could do is-.'

* BOOM *

Before Adrian could complete his thought the sound of something exploding echoed in his mind.

"W-What!?" Adrian said in surprise. A next explosion-like sound occured in Adrian's mind, confusing Adrian even more.

'A Psychic attack!? Did something somehow manage to get into my dimension from the true void!?'

'Did I get contaminated or something from going to the marvel universe!??'

'What is happening!?' Adrian thought anxiously.

Adrian's worry wasn't for nothing as while he was in his dimension he is separated from any and all universes. Meaning no matter how powerful someone or something is inside their own universe, once he leaves and enters his dimension then they won't be able to see or sense him.

While not common, there are beings in certain universes that can interact and even leave their own universe to enter the true void or go to another universe.

Quickly looking at his soul, Adrian sensed nothing wrong with himself nor did he sense other beings entering the range of his soul sense other than the ones who already lived in his dimension.

'What could be happening to m-.'

* BOOM *

The sound once again emerged in Adrian's mind as this time, the sound brought with it a feeling that tried to guide Adrian to go somewhere.

* BOOM *

* BOOM *

* BOOM *

* BOOM *

Adrian's eyes were now dazed as while his soul wasn't harmed in the slightest, each time that sound occurred in his mind caused him to want to listen to the feeling and just follow it.

It was to the point where Adrian suspected that if he didn't absorb the Eternal Flame that significantly boosted his power, he would have long been guided by this overbearing sound.

Without realising, his soul moved trying to go to where the sound kept trying to guide him to. He couldn't even separate a piece of his soul to at least have a backup if he happened to die as the sound prevented him from doing anything else other than following it.

Exerting as much willpower as he possibly could, Adrian tried to break from the sound's hold. His soul fractured and regenerated itself many times as Adrian tried to hold his soul in place.

Finally, Adrian's soul was eventually temporarily overpowered as he followed the sound's guidance.

His soul eventually reached the boundary of his dimension, ready to leave it and enter the true void. Which would kill him as Adrian cannot survive in the true void.

Suddenly something shocking happened.

* CRACK *

Space suddenly bent and cracked as a portal was formed in front of the dazed Adrian. Suddenly it expanded and swallowed Adrian whole, completely taking his true soul away from his dimension, though his connection with it still remained as strong as ever. He was nonetheless 'freed' from his dimension without him realising.

* ??? POV *

'I-Ive finally managed to do it! Ive finally managed to gain the [Outer Calling] skill from reading that Ancient spellbook! Countless nights I spent trying to decipher that ancient text, almost going mad! '

'It calls to me, the whispers are still there. I couldn't see or understand the name of the outer entity I was going to summon, and every time I tried to understand it, I would delve further into madness.'

'Ive already sacrificed an entire country's worth of mana and lifeforce, I even killed those damned elves too, knowing they live longer than most entities.'

'But it is expected, summoning an outer entity wasn't going to be easy. The skill's description even warns me.'

[Outer Calling] level 1: A skill gained from reading and understanding the spellbook of the Corrupted King, Uberto Monroe. This skill calls entities from the void to the location of the caster's magic circle. Depending on the amount of mana and lifeforce used, a more powerful outer entity can be summoned, though be warned, entities that are summoned are not loyal to the caster and if ample preparations aren't set up, can potentially escape from the caster's hold and wreak havoc on the world. It is recommended that whoever gains this skill seek a sanctuary to remove it from their soul.]

[Max amount of Summonable Outer entities: 0/1]

[Outer Entity being summoned: ^$^!$&^!&*!$&*!$?? ]

'Luckily, I've built my entire ritual chambers inside a different dimension, and if even that fails I still have my marker that I placed near the border of that human kingdom.'

Quickly running towards me, one of my subjects shouted in a restrained manner, "Lord Agmas! T-The ritual is commencing, the outer god is being summoned!"

'About time.' I thought

"Go back to the ritual area and maintain the magic circle. Do NOT under any circumstances allow the magic circle to be damaged."

"As you wish, Lord Agmas" The servant replied, quickly running back where he came from.

"All that's left is for me to bind this entity to my body and steal its power, that way I can finally kill those self-righteous bastards."

Getting up from my seat, my robe swayed, revealing my skeleton body. No eyes, no flesh, no organs, and most importantly, no weaknesses.

'Becoming a lich really was the right way to go, I would have died of old age studying that spellbook if I remained mortal, heck I would have gone insane trying to understand it if I was still mortal.'

Leaving my throne room, I walked through the royal halls, appreciating the paintings of some of my moments of glory. The time I enslaved and turned a god into an undead for example, the first time I murdered an angel and the time I became a lich.

'All good times.' I thought with a smirk on my face

Finally arriving at the ritual area, I was met with a ten kilometer wide black magic circle with thousands of my servants surrounding it, chanting to keep the magic circle stabilized.

Around the magic circle were four pillars that pumped the country's worth of lifeforce I had inside the magic circle.

'For this spell to require more than a country's worth of lifeforce with the lifeforce of elves added on to that....I really lucked out finding that book.' I thought

"L-Lord Agmas, the magic circle is destabilizing!" One of my servants shouted

"Calm down." I ordered

Raising my hand and pointing it above I used one of the skills I gained when I became an ArchLich.

"[Graveyard]" I uttered, my voice distorting in an eerie manner.

In an instant, a giant skull manifested in the sky. From that skull a dome started to slowly form around the entire ritual area. Instantly the magic circle stabilized, graves started popping up out of nowhere and the sky turned black, changing the time to night.

'Now to just wait and see what happens.' I thought

About five seconds later, skeletal hands started popping out of the ground and pulling themselves out of their graves. Each of them had a bright green flame in their eye sockets, signaling the existence of a soul in each skeleton.

Suddenly, out of one of the more larger graves a giant of a skeleton managed to pull itself out. Standing at a whopping 9 feet tall was one of the few death knights that served me. The flames in its eye sockets were not green like the rest of the regular skeletons but red and unlike the rest of the skeletons, the death knight had armour and a weapon.

Moving in front of all the skeletons, the death knight took its place as the commander of all the other lesser undead.

'It wouldn't hurt to summon some more, I'm dealing with an outer entity after all, something those self-righteous bastards fear.'

"[Summon Greater Wraith]"

The ground trembled lightly as shadows started swirling beside me, One by one, ethereal forms began to coalesce from the swirling darkness ,translucent figures of Wraiths, their hollow faces shrouded in tattered, flowing cloaks. Wisps of ectoplasm wafted off their forms, giving them a terrifying appearance. Their eerie green light of their eyes fixed on me, awaiting my command

The wraiths, while very powerful, were still weaker than the death knight and as such was of a lower rank than it. And so they too joined the ranks of the undead, waiting for the outer entity to be summoned

Removing my robe, my battle armour instantly appeared on my body via space magic. My staff followed as I prepared myself to fight.

* CRACK *

Space cracked as a terrifying aura creeped out through the cracks in space along with an unknown form of energy that.

The atmosphere crackled with this ominous unknown energy as the magic circle glowed brighter, illuminating the surrounding darkness with an eerie light. I stood at the center of this chaos, surrounded by my undead minions,the skeletal soldiers, the ethereal wraiths and the single death knight , each of them ready to act at a moment's notice.

'T-This aura...….. is strong, TOO strong.' I thought

'Dammit why is it so strong my skill is only at level one! Judging from its aura, this outer entity is going to be the strongest thing that I ever fought, seen or sensed in my entire 500 years in this realm!'

* CRACK *

The crack in space started expanding as.....a hand slightly poked out, attempting to pull space apart

As soon as I saw the outer entity's hand the aura that I felt magnified by 100 times, almost causing me to teleport to my safe mark out of fear.

'What have I done!? WHAT HAVE I SUMMONED!?' I shouted in my mind

"Destroy the magic circle!" I shouted at my servants

"Lord Agmas?"

"DESTROY THE FUCKING MAGIC CIRCLE I SAID!"

"Y-Yes sir!" they all shouted

'What was that damned sorcerer doing with a spellbook that could call something like this!!??'

' This thing has more aura than my entire pocket dimension!! How is that possible!?'

' I- '

'I can't anymore, if its aura increases anymore I could die from just that….'
