In the funeral building, Angelica sat in a white chair that was neatly lined up facing the coffin where her mother was. The casket was on a table, decorated with garlands of white flowers around it, and often mourners would come closer to see it one last time.
The mourners were dominated by Charlie's employees and close friends, even his relatives, but several neighbors from Hawaii also came with Robert.
Charlie continued to stay by Angelica's side, always hugging her, and comforting her when she cried again emotionally.
"Don't you want to tell her father?" asked Kate, who was sitting next to Charlie, wearing a black dress, as were Charlie and Angelica and the other mourners who were also wearing black.
"Telling her father will only make things worse," Charlie whispered.
"Um, okay..." Kate distanced herself from Charlie again, occasionally glancing at Roger who was sitting beside her, looking focused on looking ahead.
