This was my first ever big time concert where I was able to give all my fans a decent amount of time to prepare for and I was the main attraction. I was nervous as hell as I waited backstage. I had been able to hire both security guards I was hoping to hire and they were already on duty doing their job as the venues regular security dealt with parking, admission, seating, and the merchandise area.
Although I had originally decided to be the only person playing today, I had changed my mind a week or so ago because I didn't really want to fill in so much time on my own and I figured I would pay it forward by hiring a couple of people that are having a hard time getting started like I was before The backstreet boys let me open for them.
Searching for a good opening act was extremely easy for me because many famous people from my old world existed here and many of them still hadn't made a name for themselves unlike in my old world. I was able to get in contact with Anthony Henderson aka Krayzie Bone from Bone thugs n harmony and have his group open for me first, but I didn't stop there and I also found a struggling Ja Rule, Dmx, and Aaliyah and asked them if they wanted to perform one song each as well.
I was a huge fan of 90's music and honestly I felt it was such a waste to see such talented singers never get their shot in this world. A while back I had checked in on all of them and found out they were all just as good as I remembered them, but for whatever reason just never got their shot. If everything goes as planned Id be making history tonight by introducing this world to these big names. Not only that, id be forming a connection with them before they made it big. I would be collecting all of the money while they get to use this as a chance to get their names out a bit more. I let them set up their merch booths like the backstreet boys had done for me, but that's it.
Once the seats outside were filled, Dmx went up on stage to sing 'Ruff ryders anthem' and got the crowd pumped for Ja rule who came out and sang 'Put it on me' and then was followed up by Bone thugs n harmony which sang 'Thuggish ruggish bone'. Although it was a good song, I think their song 'Crossroads' would have done better, but that's just me. Lastly, Aaliyah went up on stage and sang 'Are you that somebody'.
Having listened to both Ja and Dmx, It hurt a bit to know I wouldn't ever be able to cover their music. I had a great voice to cover these two artist if I had been able to, but why should I take the spotlight for someone who actually exists in this world? It seemed unfair. Since arriving in this world I had gone out of my way to make sure each artist didn't exist or at least no longer exist before singing their unreleased music.
Artist like Tupac Shakur who had existed in this world but died earlier than on my world never got got to sing some of their future songs and I would probably still sing some of them, but that's about as far as I would go. It felt disrespectful otherwise.
As Aaliyah wrapped up her song, it was finally time for me to go on stage. The crowd was huge and lively and I could feel the difference of weight on my shoulders that this concert gave me compared to my previous concerts. This could be a turning point in my singing career. It could very well make or break me. I had to do a good show here no matter what.
Stepping on the elevator platform from below the stage, I began to rise into view of the crowd above as the keyboard introduction started.
-=Jenni Ognats POV=-
Jenni had traveled from the future with a couple of other Legionnaires to this point in time in history to watch the show. The trip was purely for sight seeing and the group was not allowed to interact with anyone, only observe. They were not here on official business, but instead to enjoy a good show by the greatest Hero in all of history.
Prince Aeric aka King Moonlight existed in the future and looked as young as he did in this time period, but there was something special about seeing him before everyone else knew who he really was. In the future this man was everywhere you looked. He was on the tv, billboards, t-shirts, etc, but right now, in this time period, at this exact moment was when many believed he started to truly shine.
This is the man who created hit after hit songs, movies that have become classics over the years, and had brought peace to earth, making it the most peaceful planet in all the cosmos aside from Planet ######### (REDACTED). When people thought of earth, they thought of the blinding star that was King Moonlight. But nobody in this time period but her and the people she had come with knew of this mans other identity or the incredible future in which he still existed.
In the future King Moonlight was a lonely man who mourned his wives, focused on work, and guided the new generation of Heroes. The man had a kid with most of his wives, but had stopped having kids when his youngest was born. Vowing to never have another child even if he were to marry again which was unlikely.
Thinking about this, Jenni looked over at one of the people who had come along with her. One of King Moonlights sons and the person she loved most in the world. King Moonlight was a lot of things, but a good father wasn't one of them. After losing his wives due to mostly old age, some lasting longer than others, but ultimately none as long as him, he started to distance himself from all of his children.
Seeing her lover Prince Vegeta Zor-El who stood with his arms crossed and with a scowl on his face, she wondered if bringing him here was a good idea or not. Without much thought, she grabbed his hand and held it before speaking. "Let's just enjoy the show, don't be a grumpy pants!"
"Hmph" Vegeta Zor-El scoffed, but his body was more honest as he continued to hold onto Jenni's hand and began to loosen up a bit, a sliver of a smile forming on his face before speaking again. "Believe it or not, I've never been to one of my old man's concerts, this will be the first and unfortunately it's his oldies."
Jenni laughed. "Yes, but many believe your fathers old music was his best."
Vegeta Zor-El rolled his eyes. "Because those people are all old, of course they would think his old music was his best. My music is way more schway than any of my fathers anyway."
Jenni looked at the spikey haired young man beside her who looked very similar to his father only a bit shorter, with a somewhat bad hairline. and bright blue eyes. All she could see was a boy desperate to impress his dad at all costs as he tried to follow in his footsteps. She realized he hadn't realized this himself yet and so she chose to stay quiet on the matter.
As she was thinking Vegeta Zor-El spoke again. "Hey, do you mind if I see my mom once before leaving?"
Jenni frowned. "We are only here to observe."
Vegeta Zor-El sighed. "I know, I just want to see her once. Although she was around longer than my siblings mothers, I still feel like I never really got enough time with her."
Jenni could only agree to the request after hearing her lovers words. "Fine, but just observe from a distance."
It was at this time that the lights all around them went out and a single keyboard note could be heard and each time the single note repeated itself, the bracelets the thousands of people were wearing flashed white and a man began to rise up from beneath the stage on a platform sending shivers throughout the crowd.
