Prologue

In life, there are times where we did everything that we could. But in the end, we still failed. The feeling that we gave it all. We sacrificed everything, we sacrificed everyone. But we still lost in the battle.

Because of my decision, they were gone. She was gone.

I thought the sacrifice was the best option to save the world. But I was wrong. It was our fought anyways. We were forced to be heroes and we accepted that. We acted as heroes, we tried to be heroes. But we failed.

That proves that this world is unfair.

Two years ago, I was blinded by my anger towards the government. Why? We were stripped off from our rights as human beings. They killed whoever disobeyed them. What are they? A God?

I spent my whole life training and killing myself to get stronger. I spent my blood and tears just to get recognized and to rise on top of the Pegasus sector.

As that day came, I felt like I was the best. But I was wrong.

There is someone who's better than me. And that person is the person I hate the most. What's worst, is that she's a woman. I tried to accomplish my mission and forget her completely.

But in circumstances, destiny forced us to meet. Destiny forced us to be together.

She became my partner in crime. All jokes aside, why? She's the capital's biggest fugitive. Also known as the biggest criminal. I despised her so much. When I say 'so much I meant it. In our missions, I just let her get hurt without even caring if she died or not. She can take care of herself, right? I didn't care less if she died or something.

She assassinated one of the biggest politicians on her own. And she bombed the coliseum afterwards. Without getting caught!

See? She's a jerk, a burden to society. Well, that's what I thought.

But as time goes by, I realized that no one is perfect. I knew why she did all those things. All those crimes. I understood her reason. Because out of all of us, she was the one who suffered a lot. She was the one who handled all the pain alone. She can't talk to anyone because no one likes her. No one wants to listen to her. She was hated by the whole capital after all.

From that day on, I realized that not all villains are evil. They are just judged by the people around them based on their outer appearance. They don't know her. They don't know anything. They don't know all the pain and hardship that she's been through. In fact, Celestine made me realize a lot of things.

As time goes by, I realized I was falling for her. But this world prevents me from doing so.

I wanted to save the population from slavery. But in exchange, Celestine will suffer all the burden. They can accept that fact. But for me? No. Definitely no. She was the first and last person I liked and I found out that I will lose her?

I was in no position to choose for her. She is smarter and wiser than me. Shou found a way out of my cage.

We worked so hard to make the government fall into ashes. But in the end, we were fooled. Was I not good enough? What did we do wrong? Many warriors died fighting for freedom and that is...

That is the sole reason why I DON'T accept this.

I will not approve that all of our efforts and sacrifice were going to waste. We've come so far ahead and I am in no mindset of giving up. In these two years, we didn't just sit around and mourned for our failure. I planned for this day to happen. This is only the beginning of the end. You will taste my wrath.

I will avenge all of them.

"I will avenge her."

And I know that she's here. Celestine is here watching all of us right now. After all the time that we've been together I know, she will never leave us ever in my life.

If she's here, then I won't do as cliche novels do. I will not find her.

Because she will come back on her own.

The curtains opened as I sat down comfortably on my chair and I clasped my hands together. I greeted Lucas and Emerald with a bright smile on my face. We prepared for this day and this time, we will win for sure.

"Archer, we're ready," Lucas said. I eyed him from top to toe and I stood up from my seat. We are in fact looking cool right now. Just like men in black. Black is my favorite color after all.

"An hour before 12, I'm getting all hyped up!" Emerald cheered while holding her binoculars. One hour before our plan is executed. I smirked and took the gun out of my seat. I held it up and waved it around. I pointed it to the right and it shot to the corkboard. Bingo! Just right in front of that bastard. That President.

Whoever he is, I will kill him. No matter what.

"Woah, chill bro you're too excited," he teased. I glared at him and tossed the gun to his face. He quickly caught it in his hands and grinned widely at me. While emerald was squealing in shock. Isn't she used to this?

"Don't worry, I don't shoot," I said. We laughed as we prepared for our leave. We will get the last laugh this time, I'm sure.

We stood above the building with weapons in our hands. "Ready?" I asked on my mouthpiece. My heart was leaping in excitement. I prepared for this. I was born for this. And I will succeed!

"Roger!"
