Canaan noticed that she was looking at the grevious burns on his person. "Do not worry, it will fade in a few days at most." He assured.
Xara lightly touched the burns with a slender finger and began to trace them thoughtfully. "You are clearly so powerful, how were you harmed to such an extent?" Xara remarked softly with a hazy expression.
Canaan winced slightly as soon as her finger press against the wound, but he soon regained himself, replying. "Nothing in this dark world can harm me, this was....necessary to save your sister." He finished.
"I don't...understand?" Xara manged softly.
For the first time in a long time, he normally cold and emotionless countenance was marked with uncertainty and confusion.
"Then let me help you." Canaan implored as he placed a thumb on her forehead.
A spark of Canaan's divine energy poured through his thumb into her, and she felt a strange warmth suffuse her body. Slowly it grew strong in her until it had became a gentle pressure, becoming overpowering, and then suddenly she was elsewhere.
The world around her shifted, Canaan and her immediate surroundings both vanished from her field of vision. The dimly lit room was replaced by a vast depthless abyss.
Xara saw a darkness so pure that it nearly broke her mind.
Never had she thought it possible for such a deep, pure, unadulterated darkness to exist. Xara stood in the center of this void as she reigned in her shock, but she wasnt alone....
A young Canaan stood beside her, his eyes wide with wonder as he searched through the endless darkness. He was clearly from an older time, for there was no hatred behind is eyes and no darkness behind his gaze.
Xara felt his awe, his insatiable curiosity....and his naivette..
The current him was simply curious about the mysteries of the universe.
She saw the excitement his smile as he discovered the first inklings of hisbpowerful abilities.
When he smiled with his transcendent appearance, a multitude of stars smiled with him.
But the beauty of this scene was stifled by the terrifying darkness around them, it was akin to a horrific devilish beast that desired to bring ruin to the world.
Xara's heart raced and her breaths became frantic as she faced this dark existence, and it was entirely understandable. After all she faced the origin of everything demonic: The abyssl will.
When the world had been created, it had been there to witness it, and when the last remnants of the current world faded into oblivion it would be there to witness that as well.
It was a force of death destruction, darkness and Chaos, yet it was alive with Sentience, and perhaps that was it's most frightening quality.
Canaan's voice then resounded softly through the spce around her, "This is where all devil emperors are born. Not a nuturing womb or a warm cradle.
We originate with the primal entity of darkness."
"Xara, what you see is my first cobscious moment. The day my body and soul were completely forged and allowed to enter the world." Canaan explained.
And indeed Xara saw, she saw and felt his rampant emotions. The sensation was overwhelming, she felt the massive torrent of dark ebergies coursing through him, as well as the mission that was engraved in his mind the moment he was born.
He was the a devil that went against the natural order and manipulated reality. His duty was to spread Chaos through the universe, it was for that reason he had been created; His eternal mission.
At the same time, his memories warned him of his eternal enemy
Xara felt a grave fear and pressure, as the thought of this frightening enemy appeared in her minds.
She understood immediately, that this terror and revulsion was Canaan's natural reaction to this being.
But before she could delve any deeper into this torrent of emotion a strange change occured around them.
Space fractured and rippled, halving the vast expanse around them.
Cracks spread acorss the darkness which unceasingly trembled. With each passing moment they spread across the darkness, growingwider and deeper.
Out of these cracks, a bright radiant and nuclear silver light erupted and then suddenly... what Xara had thought to be primordial darkness shattered into peices.
The resulting exploding shards of crystal reflecting the swirling galaxies of the universe.
Xara peered into the radiant light that had torn through the darkness.
She froze immediately as she recognized what she was looking it. It was her little sister Rhea, but it was not just her; it was a version of her that was more than mere flesh and bone.
She had the same snow white hair and imposible beauty as her sister, however her translucent skin glowed warmly with energy and her form rippled with power. She was a celestial goddess after all, born from the voice of creation.
As Xara observed this particular scene. A young Canaan, standing opposite to the previous incarnation of her sister she suddenly understood.
The words Canaan had spoken when he healed Rhea appeared in her mind.
"On the contrary, when cognition and understanding reach a high enough level, one can understand that there is not that much difference between the two. The divine and demonic, lke night and day, are simply two opposing masses on the same scale. Identtical, but opposite."
"I see." Xara echoed in enlightenment.
At the same time, the realm before her disappeared and her eyes opened in the material world.
"Do you?" Immediately Canaan's arms surrounded her in support, helping her regain her bearings as his magical voice teased.
"She is your polar opposite. She is the order to your Chaos, the light to your darkness. Her divine nature opposes her demonic one. She is your-"
"Reverse." Canaan finished in her stead.
"Rhea reincarnated, but her divine Origin that not return to life with her. She was missing a crucial component of her being, so she could not complete her divine body.
An incomplete body can never house a complete divine soul. This imbalance resulted in a slumber that would gave been eternal.
The only way to save her would be to give her the same divine Origin from long ago of to grant her another drop with exactly the same properties.
I chose to do the latter; My powers allowed me to.
With them I can perform any feat that does not cross the universes law only they require a price. This price is often my divine energy, but to do something as miraculous as creating a divine Origin out of nothing would have cost me my life.
So I chose a different option.
I forsook my dark origin and unknit it down to its very atoms before rebuilding it inversely.
And as I expected, her divine Origin formed from my dark origin.
To affect divine blood on such a scale, my the laws of my power demanded not my divine energy but my life force.
As it left me I fell into a weakend state, susceptible to the divine light realesed by her origin blood.
And as my opposite, her blood and power are the most toxic posion to me. If I were ever to be slain by her, it would be the end for me. There would be no reincarnation. I would return to oblivion. I would be nothing, I would see nothing and I would feel nothing.
And with even the slightest carress of the light they released, I retained the horrendous burns you see before you."
Canaan grasped her hand and brought it close to his burn wounds as he spoke.
Xara tool his invitation and allowed her fingers to gently trail the inflamed patches of blackened skin.
"Why would you go so far." She asked, her eyes wet with tears.
"It is what I owe you." Canaan replied simply, causing Xara to fall into a silent trance.
Seeing her moistening eyes, Canaan was seemingly about to let out a good natured laugh but then....
A strange light flashed across his eyes and he suddenly froze.
Canaan's pupils instantly constricted, and his entire body suddenly released a malicious aura and killing intent that could only come from a true demon. His figure flashed with a crimson light and he was gone, Xara's two hands that sought to embrace him passed through empty space.
He appeared in the skies above the deep ocean as he searched its depths hatefully. "who dares?!" A furious growl escaped the gaps of his teeth.
The spiritual mark he had left on Corissa had suddenly activated, and the emotions he felt from it were actually pain and despair.
His body shook unceasingly as he trembled with rage.
His vision penetrated the deep waters and landed upon the Neried Palace. Once he saw what was happening within...
Canaans mind went "bzzzt", and he felt an intense wave of bloodlust assault his mind.
A wave of bloodcurdling malice, one so frightening as though it came from hell, caused a discernible layer of eyes to soread across the oceans surface.
Without a word, Canaan dived into the ocean and tore through the currents at frightening speeds, his expression no different than that of a vengeful demon.
I initially wanted to set my first locked chapter at chapter 70. Unfortunately a sudden health crisis has severely limited my ability to write.
So I would really appreciate your support if you are enjoying my work.
