"Yi Ke!" Yu Heng looked at the additional cushion and person in his arms and couldn't help but growl.
"Shh, I'm going to sleep. Don't talk. If you really want to talk, tell me a story." Yi Ke didn't feel that there was anything wrong with her actions. She found a position and nestled comfortably in Yu Heng's arms. She even stuffed the broken fan into his hand. "It's so hot. Fan me."
Yu Heng looked at the self-righteous Yi Ke and wanted to throw her out. She still found it hot? Where did her shame go?! He was carrying a cushion and a person in his arms, but he still didn't find it hot!
Yi Ke lay peacefully with her eyes closed. A few strands of her loose hair hung on her face. Her usually round eyes were closed now, and her slightly curled eyelashes trembled occasionally, like two little butterflies resting.
Her head happened to be in Yu Heng's hand. Her hair was soft and smooth, like a sleek cat. Yu Heng couldn't help but rub it a few more times. The next second, Yu Heng came back to his senses and stopped what he was doing. He realized that Yi Ke seemed to have really fallen asleep.
The moonlight was bright but not blinding. Cicadas and birds chirped all around them. Occasionally, a few human voices could be heard. Yi Ke relaxed in such an environment and quickly fell asleep.
However, other than these, there were also mosquitoes buzzing over from time to time to disturb one's sleep. Yi Ke frowned in dissatisfaction in her sleep and turned over with a few grunts.
Yu Heng was shocked by her and subconsciously patted her back to comfort her. When he realized what he had done, he put the fan aside angrily.
Yu Heng felt that he had 'thrown' the fan. In reality, he was afraid of waking up this troublesome Young Miss, so he gently lowered his fan.
Yu Heng stared blankly at the bright moon in the sky and sighed silently. Yi Ke was annoying most of the time, but once she quieted down, she was as obedient as a cat. Yu Heng desperately hoped that she could go home early so that he could return to his peaceful life.
Over the past few days, when he was working, he could always hear the villagers discussing that the young lady from the city had taken a fancy to him and wanted to recruit him as a live-in son-in-law. Yu Heng rarely felt uneasy. He did not like to be the center of attention in the crowd, nor did he want others to gossip about his life behind his back.
Yi Ke's arrival was like a time bomb. He didn't know when his life would be completely disrupted. If possible, he still hoped that Yi Ke would leave early.
The sleeping girl seemed to feel that it was too hot and muttered a few words in dissatisfaction. Yu Heng picked up the fan by the side again and gently fanned her.
Forget it, I'll just treat it as hugging Yu Xiang and comforting my sister. It's nothing, Yu Heng thought to himself.
Yi Ke also felt the coolness. In the end, she stopped moving and fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, when Yi Ke woke up, she realized that she was still in Yu Heng's arms. The person who usually woke up very early was currently dozing off with his eyes closed.
God knew how difficult it was to serve Yi Ke. As long as the fan stopped, she would start to moan. She stopped moving in the latter half of the night when the temperature dropped. Yu Heng also took advantage of that time to sleep for a while.
His fan-waving hand was sore from the entire night. There were several times when he wanted to throw Yi Ke out, but in the end, he didn't. If he woke her up, it would be even harder for her to sleep again.
As if sensing Yi Ke's gaze, Yu Heng's eyelashes trembled and he woke up.
"Good morning!" Yi Ke managed to sleep, and sat up to stretch.
Yu Heng didn't say anything. Half of his body was numb from the pressure. Last night, he had been covered in Yi Ke and the cushion for too long. His body was covered in sweat, and it was sticky and uncomfortable.
He would have to dry the corn for another day. At night, he would clean up all the grains.
Yu Heng greeted the village chief and said that he wouldn't guard the grains while Yi Ke was around. He would make up for it after she left. Otherwise, if this Miss came to keep watch with him every day, Yu Heng suspected that he wouldn't be able to help but kill her sooner or later.
"You look so pale. Didn't you rest well yesterday?" After stretching her muscles, Yi Ke turned around and found Yu Heng still sitting there.
