JESS POV
I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive myself after Iago's snooty behavior, or has he always been like that to me? Why do I feel like my life has taken a turn for the worse? The last thing I wanted was to get expelled because I wouldn't be able to face Aunt Lauren and Caitlyn.
All eyes were on me till I reached the guidance and counseling office; Iago had long gone ahead of me, so he must have reached. I sighed and banged on the door shut.
"Come in," said an adenoidal female voice, and I walked in to find a dark lady in her early 30s flashing a smile at me, and I could feel my heart racing because I was terrified. I moved up to the nearest seat adjacent to her desk and sat, which is when I noticed Iago and the blonde grocery guy sitting next to me. The grocery guy had swollen eyes, and that's when I realized I deserved to be expelled. How did a 19-year-old timid girl get into a fight with two built teenage guys and wind up injuring them without getting hurt herself?
"Is that how getting drunk makes people Wackos?" I thought, trying to avoid the three of them's stares.
"Now that all three of you are here, I'd really appreciate it if Iago or Alan could explain exactly what happened on Saturday," she said, her smile still pasted on her dark complexion.
"Is that why you summoned you here? I thought we were here for punishment, so why are you asking us trash?" Alan said.
"Alan, I don't know what you did, so you have to tell it to me so I can decide what punishment you deserve," she replied with a slight snicker.
Alan didn't respond to her at all, instead starring at the education is the greatest policy poster on her office wall.
Iago cleared his throat and spoke quietly, "I was hanging out with my friends like we usually do on every first week Saturday party, you know the trivia drinking games and whatnot, and this blonde next to me is friends with some of my friends and she suddenly left us because she claimed she doesn't drink...", he paused for a while and turned his eyes to me, but I wrenched my face away, and he continued, "I don't know what went into me that day, "I don't know what went into me that day, I was anxious and worried about her, she is extremely naive and since she doesn't drink, I didn't want her to slip into the wrong hands because someone she is very close to my bestie..." he added.
I'm not sure who he was talking about, and does he know Jake is my brother. That's not feasible, and I'm sure Jake wouldn't tell everyone I'm his sister because of his ego, so I'm hoping Iago was referring to Howie, Toby, or Elina.
I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't realize I'd already been asked a question.
"Is that true, Jessica?" she questioned, her smile remaining on her face. Her smile was beginning to frighten me.
"Umm....I don't recall most of what happened on Saturday," I admitted, my worry expression still on my face.
"I know Jessica, Iago told me he saw you dancing with Alan on Saturday," she explained.
"Dancing with Alan Wolfe?" How is this even possible? "I've never met him; I've only heard of him," I said, perplexed.
"You haven't met Alan Wolfe?" she replied with a short chuckle.
"Jess, come on, Alan is sitting right next to you."
“seated next to me? I questioned, "Is Iago Alan Wolfe?" as I moved my gaze to Iago.
"You've been here for almost a week and you've been hanging out with Howie, and you don't realize this rich ass next to me is Alan Wolfe," Iago raged.
This time, I believe it was my own mouth that opened. All this time, the blonde grocery guy has been Alan Wolfe, despite the fact that he bears no resemblance to Alan or his dad.
I looked at him, and he gave me the "whatever face," which I had never seen from him before. Every time I see him, he acts like a frightening psycho, but seeing him as Alan Wolfe and how angry he looks, he really seems different, and I finally got why he had always looked so hot and annoying at the same time.
"Iago, is that all that had happened?" she asked again, breaking the tension.
"Was that why you punched Alan in the eyes?" Iago nodded, and she flashed him a sneer.
Iago became enraged and exclaimed, "He deserved it, he was dancing with her at the party, who does he think he is? He's always been like this; he just knows how to exploit girls to his advantage and then dump them, and I was afraid he'd do the same to her."
What does the grocery guy or Alan, or whoever he is, think of himself, he danced with me?, "hope nothing else happened?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
Alan, who pretended not to notice why we were there, rose up and asked, "Why do you keep flattering yourself, Miss Blond hair?" I got you incredibly drunk so you could dance with me and expose your naive "I don't drink" attitude as a kind of payback."
Wow. He's awful; he saved my reputation when I was drunk and damaged it, all for revenge?
"I have listened to all flanks of the incident, as we all know that in California, the punishment for fighting is expulsion or suspension, but I'm not that cruel, because before I met with the three of you, I met with your instructors, and they made me understand that the three of you are very intelligent students, and Kim Hugh needs smart and talented students like you, so I won't expel or suspend you. But you will undoubtedly be penalized; the college library needs caretakers, so the three of you will ensure that the library is in good working condition every day after your lectures until the end of the semester."
"Miss Counselor, we are not high school students to be given detention," Alan, who was still standing, growled. " This is unacceptable."
"At least it's better than expulsion," I snarled as we exited her office.
"I helped you there because I still want my payback," Alan hissed as he walked away without waiting for a response from me.
Now I'm stuck with them till the end of the semester, the last two humans I want to see.
