Isabella Martini - POV
I felt a cold shiver run down my spine as my eyes widened in shock. I couldn't believe what he just uttered. "You have had your fun with her, Gael. So can I fuck her this time before she dies?" that voice sounded awfully familiar. I took a shaky step closer to the door and placed my ear on it to hear better. "I have always wanted to fuck her up, but I never got the chance."
I felt my heart stop beating when my mind registered who it was. Tears started flowing down my cheeks as I felt my heart tighten in my chest.
How could my brother have such a thought about me?
"I don't think we are safe here anymore, Bella," Rose warned me, and I knew she was right. There are a lot of questions running through my head right now, but I know that if I stay here, I will never get the answers to any of them. I quickly wiped my cheeks as I soundlessly stepped back and ran to my room. After locking the door, I walked towards my closet and pulled out the backpack that I had packed a few days back.
I placed the bag on the bed, quickly grabbed a black T-shirt and black leggings, and changed my outfit. After tying my running shoes, I looked up at the clock to see that it was six pm. Well, I have about an hour before Gael finds out I am missing.
Taking a deep breath, I grabbed my bag, slowly walked out of the room, and made my way downstairs. My heart was beating against my chest as I walked out of the house and ran into the forest. "It would be faster if we shift, Bella," Rose suggested, but I didn't want to take the risk.
If I shift, there is a higher possibility that I will be caught by the patrol warriors. "That's all right, Rose. It would take about forty-five minutes to reach the border, and once we cross it, I will give you control."
"Okay," she said before she retreated to the back of my mind. The forest floor was dry, making it easier for me to hide my footsteps as I ran through the dense forest. It was pitch dark, and my only source of light was the full moon. I struggled my way through the branches and twinges, but I never slowed down.
Snap!
I came to a screeching halt when I heard a branch snap a few meters to my right.
Did he find out already?
I frantically looked around my surroundings, but I knew that if I hid, I would only increase my chances of getting caught. "Let's keep moving," Rose said, and I nodded my head and continued running.
My feet were aching while my lungs were burning from the lack of oxygen that was going into them, but I knew I could not stop right now. "We are close, push yourself," Rose said, and that was the only motivation I needed. The trees were clearing up, and I knew that I was close to the border. I willed my legs to go faster, and soon, I crossed the invisible border.
I slowed down and came to a stop before I turned around. I can feel the strain in my pack bond as I cross the border. "We can't leave like this, Bella." I heard Rose whisper in my head, and I knew what she wanted me to do.
I felt my throat tighten as the tears flowed down my cheeks. I have spent twenty-one years of my life in this pack, and to think that I would have to sever the connection once and for all, made my heart squeeze in agony.
"I, Isabella Martini, sever all ties with the Blood Moon Pack." just as I finished that sentence, I felt something being painfully snatched away from me as I fell to my knees. My hand immediately held my heart as I tried to regulate my breathing. I looked up again, and with tears glistening in my eyes, I continued. "I, Isabella Martini, reject Alpha Gael Romano as my mate and Al…alpha."
Even though he was not my true mate, I still felt the most agonizing pain in my chest as the mate bond broke. "Isabella!" I heard his distant voice scream in my mind, and I knew that he felt the bond breaking as well.
"We should leave before they catch up to us, Bella," Rose said, and I nodded my head. I quickly removed all my clothes and stuffed them into my bag, and closed my eyes. I felt my bones break and rearrange, and the hair sprouted from my skin. As I opened my eyes again, I was looking at the world with an entirely different perspective. I could see the dust particles in the air and a hare that was probably two miles in front of me looking in my direction.
"Let's go," I commanded, and Rose happily obliged as she grabbed our bag in her mouth, and we ran into the unknown. I was finally free, but deep down, I knew that I would have to one day come back here because there were a lot of questions that I needed the answer to.
Alpha Gael Romano - POV
"I never knew you had that kind of…" Before I could finish my sentence, my office door burst open, and a warrior rushed inside.
"Alpha Gael, there is a problem," he said out of breath, which made both Zachary and I get up from our seats.
"What is it?" I asked him with a frown on my face.
"Luna Isabella isn't in the pack. She has escaped." this news made my blood boil in anger as I saw Zachary storm out of my office in search of her.
"How the fuck did she escape? Didn't you stand guard outside my house?" I growled, and this made him bow his head in front of me.
"I had to go to the bathroom, Alpha. But it was only for five minutes, and when I came back, I saw the back door open," he mumbled. I couldn't believe it. I walked towards him and stood right in front of him.
"You failed," I said in a monotone when I saw that his eyes widened in fear, but before he could utter another word, I snapped his neck as I let his lifeless body fall to the floor. Right then, Zachary rushed inside my office again.
"Some of her clothes are missing. Looks like she has run away for good."
