Chapter 7

Early in the morning, Cali woke up like the previous day, she brushed her teeth, took her bath and prepared breakfast and then left for dream star company.

Entering the company, she was mesmerized by what she saw. Going to the receptionist she said;

"Please am here to see your boss "

Receptionist :" for what purpose do want to see my boss"

Cali: "well,....... "She didn't know what to say.

Receptionist: "please leave if you don't have any reason to see my boss"she said looking at her irritatedly.

Cali: "no,... No... Its not like that I just want to see him"

Receptionist: opening her drawer she picked up a pile of money and threw it at Cali and said.

"Here isn't this what you want, all these beggars that come here everyday to take money. There that's the money take it and get out "

Cali: "no I came to...."

Receptionist: "security, security... Hey take this lady out"like she said the started pulling her out.

Meanwhile in Ethan's office, he couldn't stop looking outside because he was waiting for Cali to come to the company. Soon it was time for board meeting so he went for the meeting.

Ethan: so this meeting is for you to bring out you suggestion for the company"

FN manager Edward: "boss I suggested that we have our own cafeteria in the company "

Donald: "yes boss I agree with him so that we won't be going to a fast food outside to eat"

Ethan was there but his mind was some where else.

Edward: "boss, boss are you there sir?"

Ethan:coming back that his senses asked:

"Is everyone in agreement with that?"

Everybody echoed:"yes"

Ethan: "OK the meeting is over"

Coming back to his office, he went to his previous position and saw the person he had been waiting for been dragged out by the security. He quickly rushed down to where they we're and said.

"Leave her alone "they left her alone.

Ethan: "follow me please"Ethan said shocking his workers as he held her hand. When they reached the office Ethan said.

"Please seat Cali"he said but he was shocked at what she said.

Cali: "so that's why you brought me here, to insult me right?"

Ethan: "no Cali I..."

Cali: "you what.... Your receptionist treated me like a beggar, how do you explain that huh how?, I don't need this job OK, maybe you're going to rub mud on my face the next time I come. Goodbye have a nice day." She said as she went out of his office and rushed into the elevator. seeing Ethan ran after her, she started pressing the button of the elevator, just as he was about to enter the elevator, it closed but he didn't give up he ran through the stairs as he called the security to block all the exit. When he reached the exit he saw that Cali was already out of the company and was about to enter a cab so he ran toward Cali.

Ethan: "Cali.....Cali..... Wait I can explain"but Cali just entered the cab and left. Entering back into the company he shouted at the guards.

"You are all useless"then looking at the receptionist he said.

"The PRO department will give you your sack letter"then looking at the security he said.

"I don't want to see her here when I come out of my office"he said as he walked away to his office and started his work. Minutes later there was a knock on the door.

Ethan: "who is it come in"then his secretary came in.

Ron: "boss this is the cafeteria plan you asked of" looking at the plan he said.

"Who made this?"

Ron: "sir its the building department"

Ethan: tell them I want a meeting now"

Ron: "yes sir"

After the meeting the building department came out of the meeting room with crumbled faces some of the women were crying while others consoled them.

While in the office Ethan heard the door creak open. He looked up as he heard here call.

Rizie: "mom.... Mom.... Dad where is mom?"

Ethan: "she is not here"

Rizie: "she lied to me, why did she lie to me"she said as tears fell from her eyes.

Ethan: "she didn't lie to you, she came but she left"

Rizie: "but why?"

Ethan: "she left because she was treated badly by my receptionist, she said she will not take the job."

Rizie: "but I want to see her, I missed my mom"

Ethan: " i have a plan"

Rizie: "what plan"

Ethan: "now here's the plan we will go to her house then you will tell her that you missed her that you want her to work at my company......"

They got into the car and drove to Cali's house. Then Rizie knocked on her door.

Cali: "Rita are you expecting anybody? "

Rita: "no I was about asking you that question "

Cali:" well see who is at the door"

Opening the door Rita saw a little girl and the same handsome guy she saw with Cali the other day.

Rita:"hi come in"

Rizie: "are you mom's sister? "

Rita: "yeah you are Rizie right your mom told me a lot about you. Your mom is so sad today, she said you dad angered her"

Rizie: "let me go and see her"

Cali who saw Rizie running towards her was so happy to see her.

Rizie: "mom I missed you so much, why didn't you keep your promise"

Cali: "I missed you too I came to your dad's company but your dad's receptionist insulted me so I left"

Ethan: "Cali am so sorry I was in a meeting then, I didn't know what happened am sorry"

Rizie: "mom please forgive dad he was not aware of what happened and he sacked the receptionist. Please mom just take the job please, for me"

Rita: "Cali just take it for the sake of your daughter"

Cali: "fine I'll take job because of you and Riz "

Rizie: "thanks mom"she said hugging Cali.

Rita: "so what can I offer you guys"

Cali: "I prefer we all go and eat out side because I haven't cooked dinner yet"

Soon they went into Ethan's with Cali and Ethan in the front and Rizie and Rita at the back.

Ethan: Cali am so sorry I was in a meeting then, I know its my fault you got insulted, I could have told her you were coming"

Cali: "Rizie when is your birthday?"

Rizie: my birthday is on Sunday the third of April"

Cali:so its 8 days from now"

Rizie: "I want to have a birthday party since I never had one. Mom will you be there? "

Cali: "I will be there baby why won't I "

Ethan: "we're here"

They entered moonlight and booked the VIP set and ordered grilled salmon and vegetables salads. While eating Ethan was sneaking glances at Cali while she was eating, he noticed there was a smug on her lips he unconsciously wiped it off with his napkin which angered her.

Cali: " what was that"

Ethan: "sorry there was a smug on your face"

Cali: "never try that again do you hear me"

Ethan: "Cali I said am sorry "

Cali: "save it for someone else "

Ethan: "Cali what has gotten into you, I thought we were friends why are you angry with me? "

Cali: "well you sabotaged our friendship when you let your receptionist insult me"

Rizie: "mom what's wrong its not dad's fault, he was in a meeting "

Cali: "Rizie I don't want to shout at you, please be quiet you are supposed to be on my side, you're supposed to support me "

Ethan: "Cali don't drag Rizie into this please she can't take it"

Rita: "Cali, Ethan is right she is just a little girl"

Cali: "Rita you too you're siding Ethan right, fine am leaving you can enjoy your dinner"

Ethan : "Cali just hear me out"he said running after her but Rita stopped him.

Rita : "let me talk to her OK, you're the least person she wants to see now"

Ethan : "fine just give me her number "

After giving him her number Rita followed Cali home. As soon as they entered the house Rita started.

Rita: "what is wrong with you Cali, Ethan apologized countless times but you are still angry"

Cali: "am sorry I was just looking for who to vent my anger on am sorry"

Rita: "don't apologize to me you didn't wrong me, apologize to Rizie and more especially Ethan. He is hurting right now, I know you haven't but Ethan really cares about you, Cali please just forgive him OK" she said hugging Cali who was tearing up then they retired to bed holding each other.
