Arrested

My mind was filled with thoughts of what happened earlier. It confused me unlike anything else has ever done.

Could it be that the witch knows me?

But that's not possible!

I'd never seen her before.

It's not as if I've been here before. This wasn't my world.

I came from another world.

Or could it be that she came from my world?

But that's not—

"Mr Dynma."

At the sound of my name, I turned, only to come face to face with three legal men of authority.

The few villagers who weren't at the scene of the death stopped walking when they saw the men of authority.

They were probably hungry for some gossip and whatnot.

"I'm the one," I said as I took a step back.

How do they know me?

What—

"You are under arrest for running an Ile—"

They didn't get to complete their words before I took to my heels.

"Hey! Catch him!"

They shouted as they ran after me.

The villagers didn't try to stop me. They stood by the side and watched the scene as if they are watching their favourite TV show.

I weaved my way through the streets of the market and headed down the village. I didn't try to run through the paved way, I went through the run-down side of the village.

I've only been there twice, but I hope it will be enough to guide me. I just can't get caught.

"Hey, stop there!" The men shouted as they ran after me. But I didn't stop. I kept on running as they shouted, without slowing down a bit.

My breath was coming out in gasps as I ran, but I paid no heed to that. I kept on weaving through the houses until I was certain I'd left them behind.

"Gods."

I breathed out before I decided to run a bit more, to lose them.

It only took three streets crossing for me to get to the completely hidden place beside Yuli's house.

I didn't go to Yuli's House because I know they will probably be there, waiting for me.

That's why I decided to hide out here until they leave.

And when they do, I will only need to collect the major things I needed from the house and leave.

The next village isn't too far from here. If I walk a bit, I will be there in no distant time.

I ran into the hidden place.

And only then, did I rest.

I flopped down on the dirty floor as I tried to catch my breath.

"Oh, my God. That was one hell of a run."

Aside from the time in high school when I ran the marathon and relay races, I've never run this much in my entire life.

Perfectly hidden, my mind thought of something I should have considered earlier when Yuli left.

There was no doubt he went to report me to the authorities because of the problem we had last night.

I should have known that he shouldn't be trusted.

He's a sly fox.

"Gods."

"Escaping from the authorities?"

I gasped at the voice behind me. However, before I can react, he already got my hands behind my back.

Yet, that didn't stop me from seeking an escape.

I twisted my hands and kicked him with my legs.

The man in the dark, hidden place grunted in pain as he doubled over.

"This will teach you not to touch just anyone you see!" I hurried towards the exit, only to run into the hands of Four men of authority.

*******

"Let me go! I've done nothing to you!" I shouted at them as they tugged me ahead.

The villagers, who were around, stood by the side as they watched the men drag me.

"Shut up!" One of the men that I kicked in the face while I attempted to run, grumbled.

"If you guys weren't four, I would have escaped!"

At least, I beat the three men of authority that stood in my way and would have beaten the fourth man if not for the strange thing he used on me.

If not for that, I doubt they would have caught me.

Presently, I would have been halfway across the kingdom.

"Shut up!" They growled at me, but none made to hit me.

"Where are you taking me to? Let me go! I did nothing to you!"

And that was how I found myself in a damp cell.

"You will stay in there until it's time to ship you to the mountains." The man of authority that I hit at the hiding place, glowered at me.

He seemed as if he wanted to do more than lock me up.

"Don't be so sour that I beat you up. It's not my fault that I'm stronger than most people." I grinned at him.

Back in my world, I took many self-defence classes. And those have paid off until now.

"If you say anything more, I'm going to kick you on your butt!" He narrowed his eyes at me.

"Bring it on." I grinned, "come in here, and let's fight it out."

"Do you think you are strong?' The stupid man started to unlock the door. However, he stopped at the last minute.

"What's wrong? Aren't you going to fight me? Don't tell me you have chickened out already?"

I tried to taunt him, to get him to open the door.

"Do you think I don't know what you are planning?" He smirked. "You will remain in there until you are shipped!"

"Chicken. If you think you are strong, open the door, and let's fight it out!"

The man smirked, "If you want to fight it out, do so with yourself." He whistled as he left the place.

"Damn!" I hit my hand on the bars of the prison.

I was so close to getting him to unlock the cell's door, but that stupid man with a peanut brain had to figure things out so fast.
