Building A New World

Every monster species has a powerful essence they draw from for strength. It comes from a primordial force dormant in their bodies that allowed their ancestors to rival the demon clans throughout the dark ages. Long ago they were completely controlled by these primordial instincts. They would fight among the other species over land or human mates. As time went on the demon clans began to feel threatened by the increased number of monster species appearing around the world. Worried they would one day be overwhelmed the demons took action. The demons began to oppress humanity and culled their numbers as much as possible. When the other species saw this they began forming factions to engage the demons. The result was a constant war waged among the lands. Humans scattered across the world trying to find places to avoid their extinction. Some humans found sanctuary in the elven cities hidden within the forest. Seeing them on the verge of extinction elves taught humans magic to protect themselves, but it wasn't enough. These battles plaguing the earth caused the angels to descend to protect humanity. As the demons, and angels clashed it almost broke the world. This led to a ceasefire, and a treaty was established. The world was rebuilt into a new landmass for the survivors that remained. This event came to be known as the first dark age and occurred over a thousand years ago. Since then three more dark ages have plagued the land. Due to this history, many humans consider these monster species to be evil, and it's why so many conflicts exist today. This story follows a young Nephilim named a century after the fourth dark age. After a tragic loss, Zack has had problems of opening up to others. Because of this, he's traveled alone for the past two years, but one day he meets a demon that changes everything. --- https://discord.gg/8zjAdmNtHB Has polls that involve the story, character list, the R-rated scenes marked, and a full-size pic of the cover.

Chapter 198

Leading the search for the kaumera was a man named Quintin, and they were slowly encroaching on the village. They were far closer than the slavers thought. Their village was discreetly made within the canopy above, and they have been moving underneath it for some time now. During a time of crisis, they would gather at the center of the town which is why they pushed farther in.

Standing in the trees above them preparing to strike was a group of warriors. They saw the slavers preparing to launch a flare. The kaumera ignited their essence as scales covered their bodies, and several warriors opened their mouths as their tongues launched out. The slavers preparing the flare, and those around him had their necks broke in an instant.

Looking around the men were puzzled how it happened, and before they could give it much thought jade spears pierced their chest. Slowly the spears lodged into their chest appeared, and the slavers stared up at the canopy searching for the culprits.

'You can hide your form, but not your mind.'Quintin smirked.

Quintin pointed at the nearby tree as several mages shot lighting. Two of the warriors sprang away, but one was struck as he cried out in pain. It wasn't enough to kill but it left the warrior's body covered in burns as he plunged out of the tree.

The slavers rapidly sped towards the fallen warrior as they chanted to prepare his bindings. Their comrades sprang down as a battle erupted. With the shimmers swarming in front of them it wasn't difficult to strike.

Each kaumera had its essence activated which made piercing their scales with steel weapons difficult. With a powerful pulse of electricity from Quintin, they were exposed, and they saw fifteen kaumera taking a formation. One of the slavers fired a flare, as they continued to clash.

As the other slavers were showing up to join their formation a powerful sword aura ravaged their ranks. Looking over towards its origin they saw Savannah entering the clearing with a band of lizardmen.

"Show no mercy!" Savannah ordered while igniting her essence.

Scales rapidly covered Savannah as she released another blast towards the arriving slavers. The kaumera never saw lizardman living in this area, and definitely didn't expect their interference.

"Reinforce the right, and focus on that loud bitch!" Quintin shouted while turning to check on the men.

A loud bang echoed through the back of their ranks as slavers went flying. Walking forward was a large cyclops named Arges. In his hand was a massive hammer, and a purple aura engulfed it as he slammed it into the earth. The ground rumbled throwing the slavers off balance, and when the other cyclops struck the ground spikes erupted through the battlefield. Slavers were being impaled, and those who survived had their formation broken in the process.

"You will all pay for the pain you inflicted on my people!" Arges declared as he charged forward.

Several slavers charged at Arges attempting to cut him down, but they couldn't pierce the armor so easily. The slavers who tried were rewarded with their armor becoming a permanent part of their anatomy.

"There wearing artifacts aim for the head!"

"Focus on the ones striking the earth!" Quintin ordered.

The kaumera took full advantage of the confusion pressing forward towards Quintin. While trying to rally his troops he failed to notice them fade away. Before they even realized the kaumeras absence the men surrounding Quintin were rapidly falling, and if not for his perception he would've been skewered along with them. Their thoughts of revenge were too powerful to hide, and he fell back to support.

"We need to fall back, but for that, to work some will need to be sacrificed." Quintin relayed to his men.

While connected to slavers Quintin he seized control over several of the warriors as their bodies began to rapidly gather mana. The slavers used to fighting alongside Quintin became drenched in sweat as they ran away frantically. Leaving their backs open most of them were rapidly struck down, and a few of the slavers began to emit a blue glow. Realizing what was happening Alisha appeared from the shadows.

'Who would do this to their comrades?' Alisha saw their bodies preparing to burst apart.

Alisha rapidly ignited her blades and struck each of the affected warriors with her swords as they erupted in green flames. The glowing blue light faded as their bodies returned to normal. Now that they were no longer combustible Alisha focused as the flames rapidly rendered them to ashes.

The green flames are made up of a high concentration of mana and are capable of eroding magical attacks. When mages are hit with the flames they are rapidly drained of their mana. Hours of cultivating could be burned away with a light touch of the flames.

Alisha being a master at wielding them was able to effectively nullify the bombs gathering within. Once there was no more danger of implosion the green flames went back to normal as they were roasted alive. Quintin was preparing to try again, but Vicente sprang out from the shadows behind him lobbing off Quintin's head.

"Box them in, and end this!" Vicente ordered while flying through their ranks.

With the slavers being surrounded they were rapidly losing numbers. With the defense force throughout the jungle taking action the slavers were wiped out by the time Zack arrived. Zack landed at the remnants of the battlefield and saw everyone standing around triumphantly. Several slavers surrendered and were being handed over to receive judgment from the kaumera.

"Not bad," Lilith told the others while descending next to Zack.

"Told you we could handle it," Savannah smirked.

"Can't blame me for being concerned," Zack replied as a golden light engulfed the jungle.

All the wounded were rapidly recovering, and the unconscious kaumera woke up seeing strangers all around. Zack was planning a meeting with a kaumera named Wulan as the others began to catch up. When Yu saw him in the jungle she sprang from the tree as they crashed into the ground.

"Sorry I was still using too much power," Yu told Zack as her aura calmed.

The armor dissipated from Yu revealing an elegant blue qipao that complimented her luscious curves. While Zack rested his hands on her ass he leaned up to kiss her.

"You're getting a lot better at it." Zack complimented while caressing her cheek.

Seeing the two in an intimate state Wulan went red as her body slowly faded away.

'How can they do that in public?'

"I'll tell the others about the meeting," Wulan said as she swiftly disappeared into the canopy.

Green flames possess a few weaknesses. They are effective against creation magic but can be beaten with a natural source(river, the earth beneath you, natural lightning, etc).

The reason for this is if you launch a blast of lightning the green flames will dissipate your mana within making you lose control, but the blast is already in motion. If you used water from a natural source you could even extinguish it.

The flames also cost a lot of mana to conjure. This makes it difficult for most species to use it efficiently, but elves are naturally gifted with mana.
