What Have You Done
(THIRD POV)
Their presence gave her chills.
The last time they were in the same room they asked her if she wanted to be kept in check. That was not what she wanted to hear that morning. Not after humans stepped on her legs. What she needed was her peaceful morning as she worked on something she didn't want to.
Her eyes met her mother's.
For a parent who hasn't seen their kids for weeks, they were supposed to greet them. Or even comment on how they looked that morning.
But not for Ava's mother. She glanced at Ava and shrugged. She returned to stare at the computer.
Ava's heart skipped. The fact that her mother was not on the couch as she used to do and in front of her computer was alarming. Of course, it was her working computer but she didn't want her mother going around checking her computer.
Ava placed her handbag on top of her desk and asked, "what brings you here?"
Her father locked it behind him.
