I Wish
"Dad, will she be the one I will always say, oh, she is the one that got away?"
We have been having this same conversation for the past thirty minutes and man, it has been fun. Because one, I am speaking to someone who understands me, and two, I am telling him because I want to.
Stretching to pick some popcorn, I slap my father's hand away. "Dad!"
"Yes. Oh. Yes. Yea. No. Well. Yes." My dad says.
Well, the funny thing is, I have been having this conversation with someone asleep. It is fun, oh. I already said that. He rubs his face and asks me, "are you warm enough?"
A smile breaks on my face. I cover my dad's legs and reply, "yes dad. I am warm."
He hums and returns to his sleep.
I kiss him on his forehead and take the bowl of popcorn from his lap and place it on mine. I just wish he could stay awake but then, how could he when all I have done is talk the same thing for the past two hours. At least he is trying.
