Daniel's Response

Daniel could not respond to the question, as a person who would like to know all the pros and cons before he did anything, this question was especially difficult because it did not just involve himself but the rest of humanity as well.

'I am not a saint and want to save everyone, I will always want to save my family members first, then everyone would come next.'

He was of great conviction when he thought that, he could not help lament the selfishness of intelligent species, as the selfishness manifested in him as well.

'I will not allow our fate to be in the hands of other people with different agendas.'

This scared him a little bit, the idea of being on the receiving end of someone's selfish thoughts. In a world in chaos many injustices are always forgotten, he did not want his family to suffer through it when the chaos finally reached Earth.

'Being the recipient of this system those not mean I have to be a saint. When the enemy finally reaches this planet, there will be chaos and people will die, I just have to make sure that the ones dying are not my loved ones.'

With that thought Daniel knew what he had to do in this situation.

'The system will not tell me how to save the world, so I can do what I want, as long as humanity or the Earth is saved, I am guessing the system will consider its mission to be completed.'

That was the truth of the situation, the system did not give guidelines on how its recipients should go about trying to save their world. The system was more of an artificial intelligence and did not give much thoughts to how it was used. Because of that there were moral codes that came with the system.

'Maybe I can become Earth's leader or dictator in order to save the world whilst leaving my fate in my hands.'

He thought for a while about such a plan, to become the world's villain so as to save it from its would be invaders.

'That is highly likely to end in a bad ending for me, people just don't like having other people in charge whilst they are not. But the idea to controlling my fate is something I want to keep.'

Daniel knew that people who dictated what other people should be doing always had bad endings, history could attest, he did not want to become to be remembered like that later in history.

'It would be good to have the world save itself. But I still would like to be remembered as one of the leading figures who saved the world. That way I can keep controlling my fate whilst helping the world save itself.'

Daniel did not want to be a hero, those people for some weird reason always had a bad ending, whether they are betrayed or taken for granted by the people they saved, he did want that for himself.

Daniel then gave the response the system was waiting for.

"Brain Potential Evolution System I give permission for assimilation."

[Candidate Daniel L Green has given permission…]

[Status change in progress…]

[Candidate status changed to System Recipient status…]

[Assimilation will take 5 hours, Recipient should find a safe and comfortable place…]

[Assimilation will start in 10 seconds…]

[10, 9, 8…]

Daniel ran back to him room and laid in his bed, and when the countdown went to zero his consciousness faded.

[Brain Potential Evolution System assimilation done…]

When Daniel woke up, the first thing he saw was the words telling him that the assimilation was done. Daniel at the moment could not notice that his thought speed was faster than before. His thoughts were much more clear, there cloud that usually hangs on peoples memories was not there anymore, he could remember things very clear.

Whilst Daniel was in his thoughts he noticed that something was wrong.

"Damn I feel hungry!"

Daniel had to quickly put his clothes which he failed to put on before he lost consciousness when the system was assimilating.

"Was this thing using my nutrients and body mass to give me more brain potential."

That was the only logical explanation that his mind could come up when he woke up feeling like he had not eaten for a week.

"I need to deal with this side effect later on, a highly developed brain will be bad if the body if not developed in the tier."

The brain uses a lot of energy, and if the body is not able to supply that required energy, something is bound fail. Daniel was always ready for a side effect when he accepted a system to assimilate to him, it was like a price the main character had to pay for to use something like a system.

"I have to quickly get something to eat!"

Daniel quickly ran down the stairs to the kitchen where he found his mother busy preparing food for dinner, but Daniel could not wait for dinner to be ready he went straight to the fridge and started eating what he could find.

Whilst he was filling his stomach, his mother Annabel got alerted by the way he was eating.

"Daniel will you wait for dinner?"

His mother could not help but ask why he was eating from the fridge, but he did not listen to her at all. He just kept eating until he could not.

"No mother, I am very hungry today."

"Daniel are you okay?"

His answer made Annabel a little bit worried.

When Daniel was finally full, he could finally give Annabel the attention that she wanted from him when she was talking to him.

"I am fine mother, I was just hungry. I spent too much watching anime that I forgot to eat."

Daniel had to lie to his mother, he just considered it a normal white lie.

"Oh, I know I said that you could spend a year watching that stuff, but I did not say you must take of yourself."

"I know mother, I will take care of myself."

"You must come to dinner tonight, we must eat as a family tonight. It looks like you have finished catching up with your anime, since you even had the time to come to the kitchen."

Annabel felt in necessary to chastise him a little bit.

"I understand mother."

Daniel went back to his room, where he had the time to reflect about he had just gone through, the only big change that he could see was that his mind was clear and faster than before. Ideas came much easier when he thought about them, there was no differentiation between the fields, as long as he thought about it he could get ideas, whether it was Engineering, Information Technology or some new ideas about genetics.

'The System has finished assimilation, what I just need to do to use it is to just say 'Status' to get an overview of its uses. Wait how do I know that?'

It seemed like it was just an instinct thing that the System left to get him started, at least that was what he thought he knew such information.

Daniel could not help but get giddy to see the way the System work.

"Status."

'I guess things are very minimalistic. But it shows the most important things, I get experience by developing new methods, whether it is technology or etc. I think I should talk to Jessica tonight.'
