Rebirth of Lian

Lian sprinted at his mother who was in the arms of the fiend of a man who claimed to have known his father. His fingers fell through the faded illusion, his feelings to save his mother were not enough.

On his knees his hands were outreached. His eyes faded in color as a bright orange lantern burned in front of his face.

"Can you hear me, Lian?" A voice asked.

Ghostly apparitions dressed in long flowing white gowns danced in circles in front of his vision. Their hands flowed in elegance to the light beat of a drum keeping beat only one. In and out he watched as they encompassed him.

"I couldn't save her…" He whispered.

Soft hands brought themselves around his shoulders to gently embrace Lian. He closed his eyes accepting his fated hug, being absorbed into the bosom of what he felt was his mother as the spectral serenade pushed him into a state of stupor.

"But I am here now my Darling." She said gingerly.

His hands trembled as he felt an aching heartbeat in between his hands. He cried out almost instantly in pain in his sleep.

"What's wrong? Are you in pain?" She asked.

A throb made the dancing illusions vanish. His eyes opened for a moment, he looked around everything was gone leaving him in the darkness of his mindscape.

"You need to stand up, Lian if they take Soleil you will cease to exist!" A voice chimed.

"Dad?" He shouted.

Drowsily he succumbed to the words spoken to him like an unsung spell. Dozing off to sleep everything extinguished around him and he was back in his bed.

"What happened?" Lily cried.

"Something is protecting him…Lian, please wake." Nina begged.

Lily pointed in the corner towards the scythe and smiled. Nina couldn't see what she saw curiously but felt an odd vibration from the weapon itself.

The door opened to Reaper dressed in a long nightgown and cap. Nina laughed at his old-fashioned striped nightdress pushing her fingers over her lips.

"Nour came and got me." He stated.

"I didn't know what to do, Lily came and got me originally." She panicked.

Nina held onto the slumbering Lian gathering the blankets up to his chin. She had a worried look in her eyes as she shut them momentarily.

She concentrated on Lian as she gazed into his sleeping mind. Every try kicked her out like a barrier. The need to get inside became greater with more effort.

"That ugly blue troll!" Reaper shouted.

"Shhh old man, I need to concentrate." She scolded.

Lian's eyes slowly opened gawking up the others piled in the room. He breathed in and out several seconds before sitting up puzzled.

"What happened?" Lian questioned.

"Lily had a nightmare…no worries." Nina laughed.

"Why is Reaper here?"

"I was about to leave!" He insisted.

"I see…"

Without a single word, they all leave. His attention was brought to the scythe in the corner, he could barely recall the dream he just had as the light of the moon penetrated through the window's darkened curtains.

He rose to his feet he strolled over to touch the dying blade calling out to him. Lily sat on the edge of the bed in awe, she could feel its life energy as it quivered in Lian's hands.

"What do I call you…" He whispered.

Words nearly on his tongue had him in a slight daze. He could feel a presence in the room with him a girl in a long white gown touching the ground, her illusory hand grasped his pant leg.

"Revive me, Lian…" She cried out.

Her long blonde hair sparkled in the rays of the radiance of the light beaming down on them like a beacon. She begged for the touch of his bodily contact.

"Aylin…" He said softly.

"Thank you…"

She said through tears taking form, a bright light glimmered bursting into a shine with luminous intensity transforming into a large scythe; ridges, craters of the moon appeared in the metal of the blade.

"Halo of the moon! The crescent of her light has looked upon you." Lily cheered.

Aylin, you are free!" Lian yelled.

He could feel her smile as she was rebirthed by Artemis goddess of the moon flowing through his veins. The spells of her privilege were newly imprinted in his mind as he clutched the handle tightly.

Lian felt a new with the restoration of his father's blade. It is no longer his he thought. It is his and his alone as her heart strongly beat in the middle of the gloom of the nightfall, her metal breathing in between his fingertips.

Bits and parts of his dreams came back to his mind. He placed the palm of his hand over his face. The moon's essence had allowed him to recall nightly endeavors except when he had been tranced.

"Do not waste Artemis's blessing."

"Right…Aylin I think that man was here." Lian stated.

"You need to be careful, Lian." She chided.

A knock on the door distracted Lian and Lily causing them to check when they caught sight of Reaper sleepily catching them about to answer.

"Lian, Lily go back to bed please." He mumbled.

Lian was still holding the scythe placing it behind his back as they answered to find a woman covered in scrapes and bruises panicking at the door. Her whole body trembled, Reaper pushed the two away as he went outside to talk with her.

Lily looked terrified alone of the lady who needed help. Lian took her hand, but she refused only waiting at the door for Reaper to come back.

"Lily, Reaper is an adult let him handle it."

"No!"

She was adamant on staying. Lian decided to wait with her as she planted herself on the floor crossing her arms patiently.

"Why must you be so stubborn?"

"Go!" She pointed.

"You win, I will stay with you…"

"Good…"

"Lily, what was wrong?" Nina yawned.

"She won't answer me. She just stays quiet." Lain replied.

"I see…" Nina answered.
