Chapter 8

J - Let's go out

Me - Out to where?

J - Let's meet at the park and then we'd decide where to go from there

Me - Alright then

J - Meet me there in 15 minutes

Me - No problem

  He hung up and I started getting ready. I wore a black kiss pleated skirt with a violet band on it, —the skirt stopped somewhere around my thighs, I'd say like 5 inches above my knee— a huge violet sweater, violet knee length socks and my black platform boots. I picked up my phone and bag and left the house getting into the car and asking the driver to take me to the park, when I got there Jackson was already there standing by his car.

"Hey" I said when I saw him.

"It's been more than 15 minutes but it's still fine"

"I'm sorry"

"Let's go in." We walked in together and at some point sat in front of a small pond, there was no one there and not many knew about it from my observations. We sat in front of it looking at all the little fishes swimming happily.

We sat there for hours talking and laughing nonstop then we ran out of things to talk about. I had things I wanted to ask him especially about that fight he and Ashley had when she asked him if he liked me and he didn't answer. I moved closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder.

"Jackson"

"Kyra." We both called simultaneously and then chuckled.

"Alright you go first"

"Hmm... okay so uhh" he moved to sit face to face with me. "Ashley and I had a uhm–" I cut him off by raising my index finger.

"Can we not talk about Ashley?...please"

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes, please"

"Alright then" before I could even think Jackson's lips were on mine, I was shocked but then I closed my eyes and put my hand on his cheek; this was my first kiss ever and I loved it. When I remember who I was kissing I pushed him back a bit.

"You're in a relationship with someone, Jackson" I told him.

"But you said I shouldn't talk about her"

"Well yes but this is wrong, you're cheating on her."

"Really? Cheating, I thought it's only cheating when you kiss any random girl I didn't think it's referred to as cheating when I kiss the girl I actually love" when he said that I felt my face burn and I looked away from him.

"Jackson it's still wrong, I mean, if she finds out about this I'm gonna be the one in trouble and all you'll do is fight with her"

"Kyra, can you just shut up and let me have this?"

"No!" I chuckled. "It's not right. Jackson, what if she did this to you?"

"It'd be great actually, but I already know she's doing it I just don't know the guy" he said.

"If you feel like you can do this, I can't I'm sorry. So we kiss and then what?"

"Then you become my girlfriend" he said.

"Just like that, you'd be dating two girls"

"I'd be dating you"

"I don't understand, are you listening to yourself?"

"Ashley and I grew apart a long time ago, maybe at first there was something but now...it's better we both know that we can be with anyone we want and still call each other boyfriend and girlfriend "

"But she said she doesn't want me to have you, she knows I would if I wanted to and that's why she said that, she'd be okay with you dating any other girl but me"

"You heard that conversation, didn't you?"

"And I saw what happened too, I see you lose your words when she's close to you...that..means you still like her"

"It was unexpected, I didn't lose my words. I want to be in a happy relationship that's why I acted like that" he said and I didn't say anything.

If I agree to actually be Jackson's girlfriend and Ashley finds out I'm going to be dead meat, like, I'm going to die completely, I'd be looking for a lawyer to hold my will. But if we think about it from the common sense, I'd be Jackson's girlfriend. The little me in my head was already so happy about it and was jumping and singing yes yes and yes. It's a risk to take, right?

I smiled at Jackson decided to tease him a bit.

"So you're actually in love with me"

"Isn't it obvious?"

"No not really, no, why don't you say it"

"I should say it?"

"Yes"

"I love you." When he said it I was caught off guard that I blushed so hard that he chuckled at seeing my tomato red face.

"It's too bad you don't like me back, we would have been great together"

"Y-ye-yeah, it's t-too bad" I said looking away from him." I took a deep breath and looked up at him again. "Why don't you make me fall for you"

"You'd like that?"

"Maybe." Before I could say another word Jackson's lips were pressed against mine again. He kissed me for a while with my hands over his shoulders and his arm on my waist before he pulled away and smiled.

"Did that do anything?"

"Barely" I chuckled and placed my head on his shoulder.

"Girlfriend?"

"And boyfriend." He smiled when I said that and raised my head, kissing me again.

"It's crazy how I let you kiss me when you've probably kissed Ashley loads of times"

"Actually...no...Ashley and I haven't kissed before"

"That's a lie" I said wide eyed.

"I'm serious, we've kissed each others cheeks but never had lip to lip contact."

"Your other girlfriends then"

"You're...my first kiss"

"That can't be true"

"I'm being completely honest, you are my first kiss, I never had luck with dating"

"So what makes you think you'd have luck with me?" I asked smiling at him.

"Gut feeling" he said returning the smile. I was extremely happy about being Jackson's girlfriend, I felt more free to ask him anything and with each question I asked came an honest answer with it.

It'd been a while, I was sitting on the ground with my legs crossed, my head on Jackson's shoulder and his arm around my waist.

"I know asking this question might be too much or way too sudden but I really have to ask" I said.

"I'll let you ask it only if you let me ask one right after"

"Deal"

"Then ask away"

"Why are you with Ashley? I mean it's very clear that you guys don't like each other, why don't you break up?"

"I'd love to answer that question but...I can't"

"Why not?"

"Cause I don't know, see Ashley and her family have this kind of bond with mine that allows for our parents to enjoy seeing us together not knowing or caring if we're happy with each other or not. Ashley and I have no feelings for each other, I would gladly leave the relationship but...-"

"Something's holding you back and till you know what it is you can't tell me, or you know what it is but you just can't share it cause you don't know how to" I said, completing his statement, he was silent before raising my head from his shoulder and looking at me.

"I want to know how you knew"

"I didn't, I had just assumed"

"Then you're very great at it"

"What's your question?"

"Oh...well...it's about... Verin"

"Continue"

"Are you guys actually just friends? I mean if you're dating him I would understand completely cause I'm basically doing the same thing but I feel like I just really have to know." I smiled at seeing the look on Jackson's face, it looked to me like he didn't even want to hear that I was dating Verin cause it'd just irritate him. I smiled and put my hand on his shoulder and then played with his hair.

"I've known Verin for a long time now, I think it's about–"

"11 years I know that already" he cut me off.

"He told you" I said.

"Yes, continue"

"Well, even in those 11 years of friendship Verin and I remain friends"

"Really?"

"Yeah... Is that all?"

"I think it is" he smiled.

"Do you think we'd be on Rumor Has It?" I asked.

"We'd definitely be on Rumor Has It" we laughed. Rumor Has It was a website for just our school and it's students. It was a gossip website where people post rumors about other people in the school and the truth is no matter who you are or how hidden you think you are you will still show up on that website.

"Let's see how long it takes people to find out"

"What? So we're gonna like kiss and hold hands in school?"

"No, course not, that'll be till after I break up with Ashley"

"And when do you wanna do that?" I asked putting my head on his shoulder again.

"I don't know, but I will" he said and I smiled.

Let's see how this goes. Can't wait till I get to school.
