Chapter 2

Mei continued her daily schedule as is, she was folding clothes when she saw an advertisement on the television about a contest for designing clothes. The winner will be given a chance to sell her designs at the same time will be given cash as reward and a store to start her own brand. Mei smiled, I guess I will try joining the contest.

Yun Fei was watching the tv when she noticed Mei's expression.

"What are you looking at stupid? Are you thinking of joining this contest? Forget it. I saw your sketches and even I think it deserves nowhere but the trash, look don't even dream of joining the contest. People will know you are my step sister and I don't want them to know I have someone as ugly as you as my sister! Besides if I remember correctly, the son of the man talking right now is someone who has high standards. He will be one of the judges and even though lots of girls are dreaming to work under him, they can't even go by his standards. So just give up."

"Is that so? I guess…you are right" she murmured and continued folding the clothes.

"Just leave her be Fei, there is no harm in trying out the contest" Tao answered back.

"Oh? Are you backing her up brother? Well I guess there is no harm, atleast when she will get eliminated on the first round, her delusions would stop" Fei said and laughed afterwards. Tao didn't comment back and just continued watching the television.

When Mei came inside her room, she slumped down on her bed and looked at the ceiling. Will I be able to get into the finals if I join the contest? Fei has a point, what if I joined and just make myself a laughing stock? No one even saw my sketches and critics it, so how will I know if I stand a chance? she sigh.

"Maybe what I need first is someone who could criticize my work…but who? Tao seems to have a knowledge but I don't know if he will help me, besides he might get angry at me if I started asking him for notes…but who? My co worker?argh!! whatever, let me just do some sketches for now…I will definitely come up with an idea" she muttered and sat down beginning her new designs.

When it was time for her shift to Mcronalds, she brought a few of her sketches and started working. After work, she sat down and began packing up. Her co worker arrived and went packing up as well. "Ah, ling! Great you are here…do you have some spare time?" Mei asked and Ling looked at her.

"Well I am planning to go home already…"Ling said in a tired tone.

"Ah you are right, it is quite late already. Sorry…maybe next time" Mei said in a descending tone with her last word going inaudible.

Ling sigh, "What is it? Just say it now Mei…otherwise you would forgot next time. Well…I am not really in a hurry to go right now. So…what is it?"

Mei smiled, "well you see there is an upcoming contest for designing clothes. I am actually sketching some and…I would like to ask you if it is ok you criticize my work…so I can know what should I improve."

"Ah? Well it is ok with me but Mei…I think you need someone who has knowledge on that area, I mean I could give you what I my opinions are but…those who really specializes in designs can see what should be improve" Ling said giving Mei an apologectic look.

"Ah…you are right Ling, sorry about this" Mei muttered.

Ling smiled, "Its ok. Why don't you show me the designs and I would give my opinion, then I will ask my cousin to gave you his opinion. Cause I remember he is fond of clothes too!!"

Mei gave a nod and showed her sketches to Ling. Upon seeing the designs, Ling seemed to have gotten excited and had forgotten her tiredness. "Now I am definitely convinced my cousin would have an interest meeting you!! I really love them all Mei! If you are selling these clothes you can rest assured I am one of the buyers!" Ling exclaimed.

Mei laughed, "Thanks Ling! I appreciate your opinion really. So um…when will I meet that cousin of yours?"

Ling smiled, "Oh I will tell him tonight when I get home but…don't expect to see him right away, he is a very hard person to convince. But I can I take one sample picture of your design? I need it to convince him."

"Oh…sure Ling" Mei replied and smiled weakly. She did say her cousin would be interested but then she also said he is hard to convince…it alright Mei, atleast someone is willing to help you!
