Chapter 37

Ari had asked Sam to drive her to the police station and he did gladly, but she didn’t miss the quick glance he gave to Piers before agreeing. She wondered what that was all about, but brushed it off, thinking Sam was probably silently asking permission. But Ari didn’t need Piers’ permission. She had a feeling that he had been left to run the security for the royals unchecked for many years, leading him to think that he was untouchable, which was a dangerous train of thought.

When they got to the station, Sam stayed with her, but stood across the room, a safe distance away, standing guard. She approached a middle-aged policewoman sitting there wearing a nametag that read JOAN KLONDIKE sitting behind the front desk. “I’d like to check on my husband, Prince Grayson Pierce.”

Joan’s head snapped up and then she narrowed her eyes in disbelief. “You’re Prince Grayson’s wife?”

Ari rolled her eyes. “Yes, I am. I thought everyone in the world had heard by now.”
