Chapter 142 - Colt's Attack.

Wilson weaved through the thin blades of ice, like a veteran surfer through the water waves. He stretched his hand like before to grab the furious twin by the head just like he did with his brother. He had developed a liking for grabbing his opponents by the face. His fingers were only centimeters away from securing a firm grip when suddenly he felt a change in the air pressure, or was it temperature, behind him. It was hard to explain if he tried. All he knew was someone was now there. He abruptly pulled his hand back, ducked his head and awkwardly rolled to the side as quickly as he could, barely escaping a fatal knife stab to his jugular.

"Tsk!" It was Colt who clicked his tongue and retreated. He left Wilson and went straight for Fawn who was by now, utterly exhausted from fighting two people at once. She was bleeding from her arms and thighs and various other cuts to her torso. Her clothes were in tatters. Wilson glanced at Dash and was surprised to see him holding out better than he thought. Dash's face was pale but in a better place than Fawn was. He cleverly avoided Platoon's reach while moving away from the gunner's gun point. The gunner constantly moved around in order to get a good view of his opponent, but apparently Platoon did not care for his feelings. Platoon, while trying to get his hands or kicks to land on Dash, unknowingly used his large body to help the latter hide from the long ranged menace. Wilson turned to glance at the ice ability user. The twin had pissed himself when Wilson's fingers nearly touched him and was now running for his life, all thoughts of revenge now gone from his mind. Wilson stood straight, his eyesight never leaving Colt, even as he tried to read the battlefield. He came to a conclusion that Colt's team was not all that great. The major thing that they had going for them was the ambush and their worrying abilities. If Fawn and Dash was to face the enemy one on one, the match would have ended in their favor by now, but reality was cruel and it was impossible to do so with them facing two at once.

"Where's Charlie?" He muttered and took a quick breath and held it. China's ability was disturbing but Charlie must have had a contingency plan for it. Perhaps he was making sure the others were safe. After all the poison was annoyingly slow at dissipating and looking too far still made their vision hazy.

Fawn needed help more. He concluded and ran towards Fawn. In his mind, he was going to ignore Colt directly for now. His teammates lives were more important than some revenge.

'You only live once but vengeful thoughts can live forever.' Wilson roared and pounced at the man clad in black from about a meter away. The man in black extended his hand in Wilson's direction and a wave of exhaustion hit him so abruptly that he fell down.

"Sh*t!" Fawn cursed as he blocked a diagonal slash and kicked the pretty lady in the guts. The kick pushed the lady backwards. Fawn roared and threw her sword at the man in black with all her strength.

The Man in black was not too far from Fawn but he only needed to take a step back to avoid the sword. It was all the respite Wilson needed. He stood up and darted towards the man in black.

*bang* *bang* *bang* *bang*

The gunner had been unable to get at Dash all this while but with Wilson going after the weirdo in all black, it gave him something to do. So, he turned his handgun and pulled the trigger, shooting at Wilson.

The gunshots ruined Wilson's plan. While he managed to dodge one, block two and the last one missed, he had no way to avoid getting shot and the exhaustion was like a ticking time bomb. He couldn't even find the chairs that were supposed to be around. Did these people tsk the chairs away to avoid being distracted by them or something. Whatever happened, Wilson knew that gunner had now become a problem.

Dash came to his rescue. He had noticed how the black-cladded weirdo was capable of turning the tides.

'Blackie has to go!' He concluded. As soon as the gunner shifted agro, he also shifted agro and using Platoon's massive fist as a pivot, he dashed towards the man in black.

"Where are you going? Running away?" Platoon's voice boomer aggressively, forcing Wilson to glance at Platoon, just in time to see Dash making a beeline for the man in black.

'Oh!' Wilson thought. He dashed straight at Platoon, ignoring the bullets that penetrated his skin. With all the adrenaline pumping through him, the bullets were useless. What he did not realize was that his blood that flowed out through his wounds pushed out the bullets and crystallized around his body. "Hey!" He yelled and jumped on Platoon, throwing a right hook as he did so. Platoon turned, saw a red humanoid, jumped back and met Wilson's fist with his.

A bullet hit the back of Wilson's head at that point.

*Bang*

The bullet bounced off his head and clattered on the floor.

"What the f*ck?" The gunner doubted his own eyesight. Did a bullet just bounce off his head?

"What was that f*cking armor?" He asked.

"None of your business." A voice said behind him and shot his brains out. After that, he walked back and disappeared in to the fog that was now almost completely gone.

Everywhere was clear enough now. China was no more in the ring and neither were the spectators, the first three idiots to die and cheap arena furnitures. But that did not matter now, because all the people fighting were busy playing a risky game of life and death.

Dash caught up to the man in black and stabbed at him with Fawn's sword. Blackie jumped back to escape the stab but was too slow. Dash jumped after him. The sword slid into Blackie's body like hot knife through butter. He proceeded to twist the sword, pull it out and stab again until Blackie was completely dead. Dash finished it all by beheading him. It was not being extra in Dash's book. It was called being thorough.

The man in black was not part of the skilled five. There was Colt, Platoon, China, the pretty lady and the last one had his brain fried by Gene.

Dash breathed out and ran towards Fawn to help her out.

Wilson threw punch after punch. Finesse had never been his stronghold. It wasn't Platoon's either. They exchanged punch after punch. Not bothering to block or dodge. Just a brutal exchange of brute force and so, they were in a stalemate of sorts. For a while. Platoon, at first could match Wilson strike for strike, but Wilson's punches got faster and stronger and Platoon slowly began to feel overwhelmed.

He took a few steps backwards, out of Wilson's reach and glared at Wilson, breathing heavily.

"Aaaaaah!" Platoon roared.

*Boom*

Wilson struck Platoon right in the face and sent him flying. Platoon hit the floor and fell unconscious. After all, no matter how strong he was, he was still a non-ability user and compared with an ability user, he would reach the bottom of the tank faster.

Wilson looked behind him at where the Dash should be dealing with the man clad in an all black outfit and saw a headless, brutally murdered being. He unconsciously shivered. He remembered Dash's face down beneath the trees back at the forest. Dash was very scary when serious.

He looked at Fawn just in time to see her pull out a glowing sword from the pretty lady's face. Wasn't that the lady's own sword? For a brief moment, as Fawn walked to a wall to sit down and take a long rest, Wilson thought about how he always somehow ended up friends with odd people. Jim, Charlie, Vox, Dash, Fawn, Gene (somewhat), even the instructor. Only Danny still seemed to be a normal person. And as for his enemies...

"Wait a minute. Where's Colt?"

Wilson looked around rapidly. Nowhere. Dash was the one who saw him. He appeared before Fawn whose eyes were closed. He raised his knife.

"Fawn!" Dash yelled. He and Wilson ran towards them but Dash's legs gave way halfway through.

Fawn opened her eyes and instantly saw Colt. She sighed. She was too weak to move. She watched the knife get closer very quickly. She watched. She wasn't gonna close her eyes.

The knife abruptly stopped.

"Wh..." Colt panicked. "What the hell is going on? Why can't I move?"

He had lost control over his own body.

Charlie walked over and responded, "Cause you've just been paralysed."

Wilson got to Colt, took the knife out of his hand and knocked the paralysed teenager out with a punch. And then, Wilson fell as well.

"Alright! You can take them away now!" A voice ordered. Immediately, men and women in military uniform jogged in and took charge of the whole place. Wilson, Fawn and Dash were stretchered out of the arena, Colt and Platoon were tied and rudely dragged out and the brutally killed blackie, lady and the gunner were conveyed out of the arena. Charlie, Gene, Danny and their instructor were taken straight to the nearest Tiger City's military branch for some necessary interrogatory measures.
