The police cars rushed towards the warehouse where Skye was held captive. Ash followed closely behind, his heart racing with anxiety. All he could think about was seeing her safe and sound.
'Please be alright.' He prayed inwardly for her safety.
The cars gathered around the warehouse as most officers cautiously approached it in case of traps. Although they found the possibility of the building being bomb trapped to be low, they still had to be careful.
Ash was anxious, he paced back and forth waiting for the officers to come out with Skye. An ambulance was already on sight in case she was in dire need of medical attention.
Ten minutes passed. Nothing happened.
Fifteen minutes passed. Nothing happened.
"How long will it take?" He asked the officer next to him. They were taking too much time and panic struck him deeply.
"Sir, they're doing their best in there and should be out soon. Give them time."
Ash sighed, each passing second felt like the world was ending for him. She was so close to him yet so far at the same time.
"Boss, he's been officially arrested," Dean said, referring to the arrest of Theo.
"That's good news... How about Earl, is there any progress with the investigation on him."
"Nothing has come up for now. The accident happened so many years ago that collecting evidence is hard. Especially when dealing with someone like Earl who is meticulous in planning and cleaning up his tracks."
Ash sighed, he knew getting anything to implicate and arrest Earl would be hard, and now that everyone was on his side, things would be way more difficult for them.
"Get as many resources as you can to catch him. We can't afford to have him run loose, it's too risky."
"Yes, boss."
"They found her!" An office shouting.
Ash snapped his head to the front of the warehouse where Skye was being wheeled out on a stretcher. It felt like the world stopped momentarily as he rushed to her side, pushing past those in his way.
"Skye! Skye!..." His eyes got teary as he stared at her pale and weak body on the stretcher.
She was still wearing his shirt from the night of the attack and was barely opening her eyes to look at him.
"Ash... Is it you? Am I dreaming?" She weakly asked as she raised her arm to his face.
"Yes- yes it's me- I'm here." He lightly squeezed her palm that was resting on his face.
"I thought I wouldn't see you- I thought... I thought." Skye broke down into tears before she could finish her sentence. She was so relieved to see him alive, against all odds. Her mind was finally at ease.
"Shh, it's okay. I'm here now." Ash wiped the tears off her cheeks while choking back his own. He knew what she was talking about because he too had the same fears at the dark part of his mind. But now all that was over, he finally found her.
Just then Ash took notice of the blood dripping from her back. "What happened to her?" He asked the officers who brought her out from the warehouse.
"We found her like this. Her back was stabbed but there was no one else in the building. We're still doing an extensive search so something should come up soon."
"Is- is the wound deep? Skye, are you alright?" Ash worriedly asked.
Before he could get a reply or reassurance from Skye, she passed out. She had lost too much blood and was weak by the time they found her.
"Skye?! Skye?... Are you okay?- Is she okay?" Ash asked the doctor.
"We need to rush her to the hospital now!" He replied.
They pushed the stretcher to the back of the ambulance and Ash joined them. He didn't want to leave her behind, not even for a second.
"Oh God, please let her be alright... Please..." Ash silently prayed as they rode to the nearest hospital. Tears rolled out of his eyes as he held her cold hands.
It felt like she was slowly slipping away from him and he wouldn't forgive himself if anything happened to her.
The ambulance siren sounded all the way to the hospital. Cars willingly made way for them to pass on the busy road. Words weren't needed to notify them of the situation the patient was in.
