Chapter 18: The Hunt part 2

"The rules, no stealing others successful hunt. No killing other hunters. Everyone will be rated according to how much they hunt or what kind of magical beast they have hunted. Everyone must wear this pin just in case you are in danger of dying. Begun after putting on this pin" Emperor Qaihong quickly explained the very few rules of the royal hunt.

Such as do not steal others' prey and if in danger the pin should send off the warning single to one of the stronger cultivators in attendance. I picked up and place my pin onto my hunting vest, unlike others who are wearing the traditional hanfu that are meant for this kind of exercise I am wearing western-style hunting clothes.

Since females in this country aren't allowed to show skin, I've had this outfit tailored so that the only skin that shows is my hands and face. It can be a bit hot in the outfit but fortunately, I asked my seamstress to make it from certain fabrics that make it more breathable.

One by one we got our pins "Qaihong Gho would you reconsider joining the royal hunt?" Emperor Qaihong asked with displeasure "Nope, I need the experience to protect myself your majesty" I replied before taking off to the woods.

My feet carried me deep through the wild lush green forests grounds, the natural wildlife sang their usual song like nothing was amiss.

Slowing down I closed my eyes to focus on the sounds of my surroundings, I heard light breathing to my left. I open my eyes and took out my beautiful spear from my storage ring.

The dark blue spear glinted under the sunlight, quickly adjusting my position I crank my spear arm back and toss the spear towards my left. Soon after a monster roar sounded out from one of the trees.

A yellow bird jumped down with my spear planted inside its skull, crimson blood dyed its beautiful yellow feathers. This yellow bird was around five feet tall, with a long neck and small wings. Its legs were long and thick, unlike other birds who have long thin legs.

"Why is your head so small? Do you have a brain in there?" a chuckle escaped my lips which enraged the bird, despite the rest of his body being normal size his head is the size of my two hands together.

The yellow bird charged straight towards me putting great strength into its strong thick bird legs, snapping its beak towards my face nearly biting my face off. I bent backward and swiftly pulled my spear out of its small bird head.

The yellow bird eyes turned red from rage and began moving its thick legs weirdly, it looked like a giraffe trying to dance. I kept my eyes on the weird bird, what does it hope to achieve dancing like a newly born animal?

I didn't have to wait long, the funny-looking yellow bird disappeared from my sights, a gasp escape my lips, quickly swirling around on the spot I raised my blue spear in front of myself in a defensive stance.

The bird's thick foot clashed against my spear just in time, if I hadn't reacted quickly this dumb bird would have left me heavily wounded. The yellow bird squawked out in disbelief, taking the chance I thrust my spear forward with hopes of unbalancing it.

The yellow bird magical beast disappeared once more; keeping my guard up I kept up my defense stance. Closing my eyes once more I focus on the sound of the wind just barely I noticed a faint swish of an incoming attack.

Acting quickly I thrust my spearhead forward with a force of ten punches. Peaking an eye I open the bird open up its beak in shock, the spearhead is plunge into its soft belly. I pushed my spearhead further in. Rearranging its organs in the process.

It didn't remain idle, it lower its head with quick precision plunging its beak into my arm. I gasped out in shock and almost let my grip loosen around my weapon.

"Stupid bird just give up and die already!" cursing out in pain I pulled my spear back out of its body and replunge the spearhead into a different spot before it could rejoice in being free. Sending a kick at the yellow magical beast bird legs it squawked again and let go of my poor abused arm.

My first instinct is to check on my injured arm but knowing that I am dealing with a tricky opponent I should keep my eyes on the yellow magic beast at all times. I charge once more but this time I enhance the speed in my legs and arms by using my refined moon essence.

The yellow magic beast jumped out of my spear range. The spear met empty air, I clench my teeth to ignore the pain in my arm and thrust my spear forwards once again but this time I used the thick trees around me to my advantage.

I kicked off the ground and punched the tree. The recoil force of the tree helped me jump from one tree to another, where I had to work out a unique rhythm to do so. The yellow bird tried to escape using its quick agile legs. I would stab my spear at the yellow bird keeping it trapped between the trees.

Panting slightly from the exercise that I am putting my body through I made my move and struck my spear through its eye socket instantly killing the bird. It let out one final helpless squawk before sliding off of my spearhead to the lushes forest floor with a thud.

Sticking my spearhead into the ground I leaned on it with exhaustion visible on my features, my shoulder slouched forwards. I looked at my injured arm to see how much danger the idiotic bird did to me, a deep gash that almost hit my bone filled my sight.

"Oh… for… the love of" gasping in between words I pulled out a pill bottle that has some medium-grade healing pills. The pills are red with a faint scent of earth, hastily opening up the bottle I pop the pill inside my mouth.

It dissolved soon after entering my mouth, hagrid breathing I turned my attention towards Angel who watched the fight from one of the tree branches. He clapped his hands with that usual angelic expression covering his facial features.

He jumped down onto the forest floor with grace and walked over "Child you should put this beast corpse away before it attracts more" Angle gave me a light warning, before walking off ahead of me.

I did what he said and follow my guardian angle to a faraway place from where my battle took place. After that wild encounter I took a small breather before I started hunting once more but this time I covered my eyes with my moon essence to find subtle opponents.

I found three types of magical beasts that are around the same stage as me, I carefully watched them from up high in the trees. I grip my spear tightly and cover the spearhead with a thin amount of my refined moon essence.

Descending downwards I twirled in mid-air to give it more of an impact, the magical beast that I'm launching a sneak attack on was a three-eyed squirrel. It doesn't look like it has noticed my presence yet so this will be the best time to land a sneak attack.

Swish! Sqeeeee!

The squirrel cried out in pain and gave me a vicious glare, its ears twitched the next thing the three-eyed squirrel did was unbelievable.

Riiiipp

My mouth open widely due to shock 'it ripped its tail off to escape me' I kept looking at the squirrel flabbergasted at its actions. It scurried off into one of the trees leaving me behind. Waking up from my shock I put its tail away into my storage ring and gave chase, following the squirrel through the high treetops.

Crack! Cling!

The three-eyed squirrel dodged and attack from time to time trying to knock me down so it would have more time to flee away. That's when the squirrel suddenly lost it. It stops avoiding my attacks, it looked beyond terrified.

Something scare it to the point it would rather be killed by my hands.

Frowning I put the squirrel away inside my storage ring that's when I heard a groan and thousand of footsteps. I turn my head towards the sound that seems to be coming from deeper inside the forest.

The strange thing was that cultivators around my age seemed to be running away "What are they running away fr–" hoards of undead ran amok, with some of them jumping on top of the cultivators and tearing them apart, limb by limb.

Placing a hand over my mouth to prevent myself from screaming out in fear, I turn tailed and trees jump from branch to branch towards the camp. Cuuukkk

Long claws dug into my back forcing me to fall off of the tree branch, I turn my head around to see the undead staring me directly into my eyes. Fear and panic consumed me, I hastily tried to rip it off of me till I hit the ground face first with a plat.

Its claws continued to dig into my flesh with a satisfying rip. Coughing up blood I reached my hands out in hopes someone would save me, anyone would do it doesn't matter who…
