5: Starting from Zero

After the game of tag and Ryo's several stages of sadness we had all made our way back to the dorms. We were all trying to make sense of the objectives on the screen.

"Hm, well the objective of the first selection is to score 10 goals, trade those points using this bonus thingy." He then pointed to the screen before continuing, "Get that one day pass and escape the hell out of here.

For a while there was silence, before one snicker from Reo led to the whole team erupting in laughter, I couldn't help myself and was rolling across the floor.

"You really are a damn moron!!" Reo said before laughing again. "I thought Japanese people valued their knowledge." I said whilst laughing my ass off.

"Hey Reo do you know if there's any board games lying around? I'll even take a deck of cards." Standing up wiping the tears from my eyes I sit down in the middle of Reo and Nagi. "Nagi, you have all the talent in the world yet you rather play games? I'm sure if you actually trained you would be on a similar level to me."

"Eh, what do you mean? I'm already better than you." Nagi then stared at me with eyes as mysterious as his talent. "Oh, you have so much more to learn before you even consider yourself my equal." Launching back at him with dark eyes.

"Okay okay, cool it down." The tension was a bit too high for a second. "Yeah sorry Nagi I did go to far." He then just nodded.

"By the way Zach, are you related to Wisdom Ibrahim in anyway. If I'm not wrong your from Manchester."

"He is my father yes."

"Holy crap so Ba Ya was right!!" "I'm a massive fan is he in Japan right now!!" I then had to push Reo back a little since he was a bit to close. No matter where I go his name still follows me. "Yeah he is in Japan, but right now he's just a retired old man."

"Yeah but he's also a football legend!" "Wait then what are you even doing in Japan, playing for England at this point of time would be way better than Japan." I can't blame him for his thinking either. "I find myself asking the same question, but Ego, I don't know what it is about him but he just piques my interest. I probably won't play for Japan, my goal is to use Blue Lock as a stepping stone to be able to get better, my future still lies with England."

"Then you're way better off than the rest of us. If we don't win we can kiss our national dreams away." I then laughed thinking about Manchester, sometimes I miss that place. My friends there, I wonder what Agi is doing right now. "Well even though that is true, I hate losing, so that's why I plan on conquering Blue Lock as a midfielder."

"Hahahahahah, conquering a place meant to develop the worlds greatest striker as a midfielder, then after that you won't even play for Japan. If you do win this whole thing then I think Ego will be pissed." Then almost on que the man behind Blue appeared to us.

"Well Well, hello you unpolished gems, just now team x and team y have been kicked out of their matches. Very soon team V will take on team team Y, this first selection will determine you fates as strikers. Take this exam as you passing through fire, this will separate the kings from the horses. This is a battle about building your team from Zero."

{TEAM V VS YEAM Y}

Warming up by myself I was trying to get myself into the zone, though it was a bit distracting when you could hear Nagi and Reo bickering. Ever since I was a child my dad always said entering into a winning attitude is the closest step to actually winning, I always hated that saying, but it stuck with me. Then after we got in our positions the whistle went off. Then I saw Reo make the first move, he bolted towards team Y's defense though there defense was very weird. They all charged together to try and steal the ball.

But suddenly Reo got tackled, but not from team Y but from our teammates, "Ego said the top scorer survives anyway, so I don't give a rats ass about the team!"

Then running with the ball in his stride he screamed about being the best striker which pissed off the rest of the team who then charged in for the ball.

So this is what Ego meant by starting from zero with a pack of idiots this seems almost impossible, so I stayed back with Nagi we simply watched the gang of Zantetsu's cause chaos.

"Are you going to do anything or just sit around," I ask Nagi. "Hm, sit around, but what about you won't you make a move." "I'll let the kids play for a little before I step in, I don't want to ruin their fun just yet."

There was much going on from my field of vision, the struggle for the ball by both my teammates and the opponents was simply embarrassing to the sport of football. Though I decided to watch the chaos unfold for a little.

That's when someone from the opposite team surprised me, he was doing something similar to what I was doing, he waited around the battlefield looking for any loose ball, and he finally got his prize.

"The kid with bangs is good isn't he?" Surprised by Nagi actually focusing on the match I responded, "Your catching on Nagi." Then bending down and tightening my laces. "I'm going in." "Wish you luck." Then lunging at breakneck speeds cutting down yards quick I was set on my target.

{REO POV}

The kid with bangs is good though I'm better! I managed to win the ball back slicing through the middle of his legs. "What?!" "Thanks for the ball!" "Right back at you!" Though my happiness was cut down when Zantestu arrived and took the ball away from me. "Goddamn stupid Zantetsu!" "Your still calling me stupid!"

But then me and Zantetsu where both shocked to see a towering figure over us, "Thank you for the ball." Giving me a smile that caused my anger to rush up, Zach then lined up for a shot from outside of the box banging it in the top corner with the GK still planted on his feet processing what happened.
