Chapter 11 - Broken Trust

I got back to where I was and there, I finally saw her.

"Where did you go? I was worried." She said panting. I can see on her face that she has been running for a while. Her lips were pale and she is sweating like crazy. I wiped the sweat flowing from the corner of her face and kissed her forehead.

"Sorry. I got lost." I explained and then embraced her. She just sighed as an answer and didn't argue anymore. Maybe she got tired when she was searching for me.

After we finished buying all the things that needed to be bought, we decided to go home. She looks tired.

How did I know?

Well, she didn't talk to me on our way home.

"What are you cooking?" I asked and came near her.

"It smells salmon?" I added and hugged her from behind.

"You have a very useful nose." She answered and smiled at me.

After minutes of waiting it was finally cooked, so we sat down and eat. It has been four days since she started cooking our meal and I just realized that she is very good at it. I'm the luckiest man if I got to marry this girl. Well, I will marry her. Definitely!

When we finished our meal, we cleaned up then she took a bath while I proceed to watch some news on the television. Right then, I noticed my phone vibrating.

How did my phone get a signal?

I looked at the screen and it was from an unrecognized number. I got curious so I answered it.

"Hello," I said.

"4 hours." The man from the other line stated then ended up the call.

"Who is that?" Aviana asked. I didn't notice that she was already finished taking a bath and is now fully dressed.

"Nothing. I thought someone called. My mistake." I stated. She will ask questions if she has known that someone called because apart from me, she knows that this place hasn't any reception.

I decided to pull her and kissed her when she got near me so I could distract her. Yet, I was surprised when she responded to it for the second time. I thought she doesn't want to do it yet but maybe that was before. I carried her to our room and then started to take off her shirt and so did I as I proceed to kiss her towards her breasts. She moaned while I was doing that but then in the middle of it, she stopped me.

"I can't." She said and pulled the blanket to cover her body.

"It's okay," I replied and kissed her forehead.

"Let's just sleep," I added and she smiled after that. It's a good thing that she didn't wash her hair. No wonder she was so fast when she took a bath. She turns away from me as I embrace her from her back then I gently caressed her hair.

Aviana... I'm helpless.

Hours had passed and I think she is finally asleep. I stood up quietly and wore my shirt that was on the floor. After that, I went towards the door but before I was about to close it, I looked at her for the last time.

"I'm sorry," I whispered as I silently went out of the room.

When I was finally outside the house, Sean is already at the shore and I saw a speed boat not far from where we were.

"Let's go," I stated as we went to the speed boat, then he started the engine in a hurry.

When we were about to leave, my skin started to feel cold.

Is it because of the cold breeze of the night?

No, it's not.

I looked behind me and I shivered in fear when I saw a figure standing at the tree where we usually stay to watch the sunset. I saw her vividly crying with that disappointed face.

I'm sorry Aviana, but goodbye now. This is for the best. I have to stay away for you to be safe. I don't want you to suffer because of me. I will do whatever it takes for you to be safe. So please, Aviana. Please take care of yourself.

I am already in front of our gate, thinking if I should enter or just go back to her. At that moment, a hand patted my shoulder.

"Go on." He said encouraging me as I looked at him. Seems like I can't run away now. I just decided to go inside and when I finally got in, my mom saw me and cried. She ran towards me and hugged me very tightly. There, I saw Ava too running from upstairs.

"What the hell Ace!" Ava shouted.

"Where did you go?" Mom asked worriedly. I didn't answer because I saw Father walking towards me. He caught me off guard... I don't know what to say to him but I was unable to think anymore when a slap landed on my face. I know deep down… that I deserved it for worrying them.

"I know that you run away with that girl." He said which made me look at him. So, he knows that I am with her? Then, he knows where she is.

"Dad, don't do anything. I'll do anything just let her be." I pleaded. He sighed as an answer and massaged his forehead.

"Your fiancé just called." He stated which made me froze.

Is he really going to talk about her now?

"She is asking if you are finally home." He added which made me frown.

"You told her?" I asked and father just shook his head.

"You were all over the news. Since you are back, I will contact the media as well as your fiancé to deal with your mess. You better behave yourself now and don't do anything stupid again." He answered. His voice seemed calm now and yeah, my fiancé… I totally forgot about her. I need to deal with her sooner or later.

I looked at my father and just nodded in return. After that, I left them without a word and then proceeded to my room. I throw myself onto my bed and remembered her face. The last face that she made as I went away. I can't believe that I managed to leave her.

I am a coward.

Everything will finally change now and I hope it's for the best.
