1 - Coffee Shop

Tik tik tik tik.....

Ugh, the closing shift is absolutely desolate for a coffee shop in a small town like this. I still have an hour and a half before I can go home. I really need to talk to Pete about changing the hours. We haven't had customers in over twenty minutes, and there is nothing left to do....

P-"Ronnie... Ronnie...RONNIE!" I hadn't even noticed Pete had come back out of the office.

R- "Sorry I was a bit lost in thought, what's up?"

P- "My wife called. The pipes are on the fritz again. Do you mind closing up by yourself? I don't think we'll be getting anyone else tonight." Pete jangled the keys to the building. I should have my own set by now.

R- " Yeah, I'll close. You really should get a professional to fix that place up before the baby comes." I took the keys and jammed them into the back pocket of my jeans.

P- "Thanks, kiddo. Get home safe, see you Wednesday."

Im grateful for the spare set of keys that are saving me the trip back over here on my day off. However, now that Pete is gone, time is going to drag even slower.

**ting ting ting***

This bizarre sound jolted back out of my daydreaming. As I looked up, I saw a dark-haired man tapping on the window next to the door.

**ting ting ting***

"Are you open?" The man half shouted at the glass. I looked at the open sign two inches to his right hanging on the door, and then the blinking neon one just above his head. Despite the urge to say we we're closed, I nodded yes. As he opened the door, a crisp autumn breeze blew in, carrying this intoxicating scent with it. It was his cologne. As he approached the counter, I really looked at his face for the first time. I could see bags under his eyes, along with stuble covering his chin. He had good bone structure, though, and these incredible intense hazel eyes. He could be very pretty if he took better care of himself.

"Aahhhmmm." The man cleared his throat.

I could feel my cheeks burning. I was staring.

R-" I'm sorry, sir. I'm a bit tired. What could I get for you?"

"What's your favorite?"

R-"My favorite? Um, the chai tea latte."

"Sounds exquisite. I'll take one to go please."

R-"Coming right up, and what's the name for the order?"

S-"Sabastian"
